  1. Thanks to all of you guys. We are going to sell our beloved coach (original owners) due to health problems. We really, really don't want to pay $11k to replace the turbo, but see no option, other than to shop around...Was hoping my neighbor could determine something from looking at turbo, but it is all electric and little obvious evidence of failure, just a little soot on the underside of bed cover access hatch in the area above the turbo. Stop Engine light does not come on, but Warning light does. Back many years when a got my second sports car, I whined about the price of maintenance and a buddy told me "if you wanna drive like a sport, ya gotta pay like a sport" Easy to say when its not your money. guess I am not such a great sport? Anyway, this group is great! Frank Walter
  2. Hey Fellas! First, thanks for the suggestions and so quick, too! There are fault codes for the turbo. But got conflicting answers from the trucking company shop. And it took more than a week and $800 for the info. Remain somewhat doubtful as power is still fine. Codes number more than a hundred. Got a neighbor who is retired mechanic. He is gonna look at the turbo and check the capacitor? on it to see if it is worn or free. The Stop Engine light used to come on and accounts for the hundred plus codes, but does not come on now after service. Just the warning light. Years back the old Monaco service in Wildwood decided it was low coolant and it seemed to go away after adding a tiny bit of fuel. Might also replace the coolant sensor as this issue mostly came about after replacing the old plastic coolant tank with an aluminum one. Thanks again and I will keep you all posted on how this plays out. Frank Walter
  3. Hey to Monacoers Reputable local shop cannot help. Read manual and it did not help either. Anyone know how to re-set the warning light on a 2009 Cayman 38 SBD? Already turned off the engine battery switch and waited an hour, turned it back on and started the engine. All idiot lights came on and turned off except the warning light. warning light lights when service is overdue according to my manual. Thanks in advance, Frank Walter
  4. Thanks so much for the pics! Gives those of us who could not be present a reminder of the lifestyle. Monaco surely made some beautiful rigs. Frank & Jeannie Walter 09 Cayman 38sbd 09 CRV
  5. Chris, Ingrid & Dustin Ya'll replaced our '09 Cayman slide toppers quite a few years ago. Our Cayman sat on Camping World parking lot in St Augustine, Fla for 444 days while MCC went belly up. It was several years before replacement, but the toppers are still fine now even though our coach has never been inside out of the sun and we live in Florida. Wish a lot of other items we replaced lasted nearly as long as your stitching. You are the real deal, and thanks! Frank & Jeannie Walter
  6. Filisity You have the same chassis as we: the dread 4 bagger from Cheetah. Luckily for MCC owners there aren't that many so even Monaco owners don't know you should only move the slides (in or out) when fully aired up. Just us 4 baggers. It shouldn't take too long to air up and then you must shut down engine to move slides due to the lockout ignition. Yes that means starting the engine twice, but we have no "hi idle" so not that obnoxious as the larger Cummins. Don't worry about campers or (other Monacoers' on this group's) ignorance of the old Cheetah frame. Do worry about your trailing arms if they have not been replaced. Go to Source Engineering and research/call them. I highly recommend the "ride enhancement kit" in addition to trailing arms. About 6K will make your MCC ride the way it should have upon leaving the factory. Good Luck Frank Walter '09 Cayman 38SBD
  7. Gary M. The wet bay heater on our '09 Cayman stopped working after the first time I tried it. Fuse. Replaced it twice, same result. Checked the specs and the draw on batteries is really fierce and would preclude its use unless generator or shore power. Don't remember the exact draw but it was stunning. There were files on Monacoers concerning replacing the fuse with something or other from Radio shack, but don't remember now. So, decided to just forget the wet bay heater, and use a 'trouble light' with a 60 watt bulb in it. Of course we live in north Florida, so don't need much heat on the few nights it gets into the 20's. IMHO easy is good. Frank Walter '09 Cayman 38SBD
  8. Chris/Ingrid Its always later than we think. Congrats! See you in March? At least your staff. Frank & Jeannie Walter
