  1. Was @$ 100 for a generic replacement at HD or Lowes, I forget. Easy to do.
  2. I switched to waxing the windsheild and all windows. Easy on, easy off, water beads and runs right off.
  3. Try Braddandhall.com 800 445 1830 I just got the bearing ring for my chairs there.
  4. I put in the same units, 15k each. I put a cardboard baffle in the ducts so one does the bedroom and the other the living room and that pretty much eliminated that issue for us. We can go to bed with ac on in bedroom, and have the livingroom programmed to come on heat at 3am, so it's warm when we get up.
  5. First thank you to the many who have provided info and knowledge over the years. I guess I finally understand the strong recommendations to go res. The JC unit has been great for 5 yrs. But I have had nothing but problems for the past 3 months with misc parts remaining on the norcold. Changed board, brow, fans and thermostat and the unit randomly would power off, after as many as 10 days. Had 4 days to find one, get it delivered and installed b4 heading up to the mountains. So, I had it yanked. Window came out and back in, easy. Doors off both units, slid in and out with ease. For those interested went with Whirlpool 2 door 14.3cuft , took off handles, model WRT314TFDB $749 on sale for $599 at Lowes. Smaller than space, requiring no mods. Had to buy icemaker as an add on, @$100. Be sure u have room for door swing. Again, thanks.
  6. Thanks for all the input. For those interested. I have the 120v from JC. Keeps freezer at 0 and frig at 33 set on 4 and 75 degrees outside. Rarely have had to turn it up beyond 6 in warmer temps. I do have it under our awning.
  7. Moderator Comment. There were duplicate posts time stamped within a minute. This is against the Forum’s rules. The two have been combined. Please to not duplicate post or if an accident, notify a moderator. End of Moderator comment. I dont heed to hear about switching to a res refer. Have amish cooling unit. Works great, 6 yrs. Control board went bad, temp stuck at 41°. Had control board, brow, temp sensor and fans replaced. Randomly, 10, 7, 1 day power will turn off. Happens on electric and propane. Brow will occasionally will give a AC/RE code. 20% of instances. Been looked at by a Tech, everything checks ok. Norcold refuses to replace the control board under warranty, claiming my inverter is randomly sending bad power. Does anyone know of another source for a replacement board, or a solution to my issue.
  8. Just happened to us. Found a 5 amp fuse on the control board blown. Appears a fan has bound up and is blowing it. Took the cover off the control board outside, our fuse is on lower right side. If it blows again, find the wire going up to power the fans and disconnect it, replaced fuse again and it's running while we wait for delivery.
  9. I had similar in my 01 Dynasty. Cummins and one other place said they could find nothing and brakes were OK Decided to put black electrical tape over idiot light. Stayed on for a couple years. Got cut off and had to hit brakes hard(I use exhaust brake to slow mostly). What do you know. Light went out and hasn't come on in another couple years for whatever it's worth.
  10. I believe my tech connected the blue wires bypassing the heat pump, removed the existing thermostat and connected those wires to a simple wall mounted thermostat in the same location. It works fine when we needed it. Surprised, the Houghton has worked great down to 28-30 degrees. We've rarely used the furnace since installing. But will when colder than that.
  11. 2001 Dynasty. yellowstone early Nov. Skirt around rig. No problem til Temps hit 15 below.
  12. After spending @ $200 twice in 7 years, asked tech what options I had when the 3rd call was going to cost another $200. Decided to spend another $200, but had him install foot pedal flush and 8 years later haven't had to have it repaired again
  13. We live in Grand Teton NP. DAMAGE is extensive in YNP. All 5 entrances are closed They've been evacuating the park for two days. Northern loop will not reopen this year. Southern loop will not open for another 5 days at the earliest. Reservations to enter the park are being considered. Per Superintendent.
  14. I am not mechanically inclined, so I can't explain. Here are the instructions and my guess is it has to do with the plenum and the mounting of the separation baffle. Beyond that you might try Recpro, but I don't think the have tech support.
  15. I've had a number of repairs done at Affordable RV. Just north of Henderson. You should reach Allie at +1 702 776 1487. Tell her Jerry Gonsiewski referred you. They were referred to me by Cummins for Chassis work they didn't do.
  16. Just had to replace my duotherms. Have a 5 button thermostat. $100. Plus $15 shipping. If interested call me. PACIFIC TIME. 727-460-8464
  17. ok guys here's photos from each side of my opening. don't have the plenums, so you'll have to go online and look at mfg photos. I think the angle iron welded inside the box also interfered with the plenum and you can see the new holes that had to be drilled to secure the unit to. I'm not mechanically inclined, so you'll have to figure this one out.
  18. Yes, I believe you can open the plenum to dump air straight down, but with fans on high you might find this unnecessary. With split ducts, suspect it should be pretty straight forward pull out the old, drop in the new. Remotes use 2 regular AAA batteries which come with the unit. There is another supplier besides Rec Pro, but I can't remember their name. Maybe they have CS for these.
  19. Followup on Houghton AC replacement. Units ordered, shipped and arrived in Vegas 2 days ahead of initial estimated date. First do not buy these units if you have a center duct system. These are designed for rigs with a duct running down each side of the coach. Unfortunatety not mine. Maybe my center duct was a custom build? Only motor home we've owned, so I had no idea there was different ducting. Couldn't use the plenums(inside ceiling covers) had to keep my wood framed ones and make other modifications. Probably wouldn't have done this if I'd known their ducted unit wasn't compatible with all duct systems. Second, did significant modifications and thankfully got them installed just in time for two 94° days in a row. Units easily kept temp at 75. Units blow very cold. Fan is much quieter, has 3 speeds which I love, and turned down to low, is way quieter that the old dometics. Watch TV without turning it up. Another difference from the dometics which connected to a hose and drained through the coach and out bottom of rig. These drain on the roof, so if that's gonna bother you these might not be for you. Nice having remote controls. User manual pretty lame. Seems like there are more functions than there are an explanation of. Appears there is no US customer support. As to the propane furnace, the telephonish cable going from the living room dometic unit was cut and tested as to which wires fired the furnace. The old thermostat was then removed from the wall, wire split and previously identified connected to the simple Emerson thermostat.
  20. BTW they don't have a low profile 15k unit w/ HP, ONLY 13500, so that made my decision.
  21. We are in Vegas. The units won't arrive for a week or so. When I take the rig in I'll ask which thermostat they picked up for me and let ya know. I'm about the same height, so I'm not worried about a few inches.
  22. BTW Rec Pro has them for $1149. These are not available low profile, but are only 3-4 inches taller than old dometics. They are offering a 5% discount for giving them your email which you can opt out of after. Just be sure to ask if you call to order or look for it if you order online
  23. Same size. My tech quoted $140 to remove and replace each unit. Said they did another customer yesterday. They ordered a new thermostat to hook up to the furnace so it will be seperate. I ordered two 15k units yesterday
  24. Thanks, Quiet and efficient, looking up my alley! Jerry
