  1. Ivylog, Had you looked at mounting the lights closer to the ground, like along the bottom of the facia. I almost refuse to drive at night due to the Monaco lights.
  2. I also use FMCA and have had one tire change with no issue. Very reasonable yearly, less than Good Sam and I am member of both. Also better coverage in my humble opinion, last time I compared a few years ago.
  3. Years ago I put in a Rear View Safety system. I did not go with the side cameras as I felt they were more of a distraction than help. I always use the mirrors. Regardless, I used the cable from the Weldex, and the Rear View Safety was pretty much a drop in. I do remember slight cut in the dash, but that was all. There is a write up here in the files. I used the RVS camera. Weldex is junk and support was nonexistent. Spent more in replacement screen which did not solve problem than new RVS system. Forgot about heat sink which fell off and shorted out monitor that was not covered by Weldex.
  4. Learning experience. Ceramic tile is great for shower walls and such, but not for floors. Porcelain tile is meant for floors, as it is stronger, resistant to cracking. As an aside, when we replaced our carpet with engineered wood, we kept the tile floor. I did square off the tile in the kitchen using the spares provided and stored under the bed. No carpet anywhere now, not even the slides.
  5. My Windsor was purchased used with 4000 miles, one year old from Lazy Days in FL (when it was still the old Lazy Days). They did a conversion for the original buyer to Bosh washer/ dryer. The dryer is 240v. Yes, you have to be connected to shore 50 amp and it is vented to the outside. We can do many loads fast, just like home. Strange the buyer wanted the conversion since they were not full-timers. They did not even remove the stickers from the inside of the shower. Lazy Days informed us they tried to talk the buyer out of the conversion to 240v, but he was mind set on Bosh appliances. Nice coach, probable one of the last true Monaco coaches. We added wood floors and wood slides. Kept the tile kitchen and bath.
  6. For the King Omnipro, do you have to purchase the separate mounting plate to cover the hole from the Batman?
  7. For those concerned about boondocking with a residential, our RF18 consumes very little power and runs on MSW. We recharge a few hours every day. Not sure about those without an inverter compressor. The Nocold was removed working and we could not give it away. Someone on this site took the electronics but that was it. We had added all the recalls to the Nocold over time and eventually took the class action money to purchase the RF18. I just did not want it to fail or catch fire on my watch. Never had a part fail, it just was never as cold as a residential, even had placed one of those small circulating fans inside which helped.
  8. I agree with comment on side camera. I found them a distraction and when i replaced the Weldex went with back up alone and never regretted decision.
  9. I converted to the Samsung RF 197 or RF18. Cannot remember now. I use the MSW original inverter. Love the unit. Should have converted the day I bought the Windsor used (1yr old) instead of fighting the NoCold unit. If you ever intend to resell, I think it best to have a residential. If you are uncomfortable with MSW and inverter compressor, it is cheaper to install a small PSW inverter for the refrigerator alone.
  10. Those home made devices for the brake sound great, especially for the brakes not on a level surface, such as the Windsor being level and easy to accept the end cap. I found the PVC end cap easy to put on and off and it sits there. Now a habit, even though the dog has passed, and only a few light weight cats remain tramping around. We are using store bought tray, upside down, for the switches on the passenger side, and the few unpowered on the drivers, we ignore until we startup. I'm enjoying the funny stories, although they are not so funny, like ours, when it happens. It is funny to tell it now. That scratch on the front still exists 17 years later to remind us of the event. It was three toads ago, but still have that same used coach, which we did not expect to purchase on our visit to LazyDays. It had 4000mi and 11months on from the original owner, and our trade of our 98' single slide HR Endeavor (which we also bought from LD used in 98) after discounting the Windsor, they gave us what we paid 8 years earlier on the HR. Forgot to mention, things moved fast in those days at LD. We bought the Windsor the day it arrived as a trade and they sold our trade the day we transferred our materials from the HR to the Windsor.
  11. Dog did do it. Just closed on our used RV at LazyDays in FL and went for dinner. Came back and the dog ran the generator into the drivers fender of the toad. No damage to the slide but a nick, and a dent in the fender. I immediately put a plumbers cap on the brake and disconnected the generator slide from the inside of the coach. Dog was only 20lb but enough to operate switches on both sides. Now have covers for both and slide still disconnected.
  12. I'm not close to my Windsor to give specifics, but I removed the two Sharp and replaced with I recall Best Buy brand digital which fits height exactly. Then made frames and covered with black speaker cloth to fit the side gaps. Looks made for the space.
  13. I researched the subject to death. Samsung RF18 was my conclusion. I did get the 3D printed with twisted aluminum bracket holder for the doors by a private party as Cherry suggests. Works great and keeps doors cracked when not in use. My Windsor has access panel for plumbing under the refrigerator and for electrical for the kitchen slide, so we keep a foldable step for the top shelf. That is the pain. For travel we use the spring loaded double closet stops like a curtain road hanger, to keep thing from falling out when we stop travel. Batteries lasts the day, run genset a few hours each day and that's it when boondocking. We have Sams golf cart battery bank of four. Wish we had changed out the refrigerator when we purchased the unit used one year old.
  14. Better than Michelin FMCA program price by a long shot. Southern Tire does not participate in that program.
  15. Just replaced my tires with Toyo 144s for $4050 drive out at Southern Tire. Included balance and stems.
  16. My old '98 Holiday Rambler, 38' got 10mpg sometimes 11. Moved up to our 41' Windsor. With the added weight, 36000lb, it rides like it is not scared of trucks passing and tows the TOAD, full size Traverse, with ease. We run around 65mph or 63, and run the AC, dash with the overhead ACs. Have Residential RF18 and Bosh washer and dryer in the rear, so we are no light. Constant 8MPG regardless. Generator pulls 1 gal per hr in that 8MPG. That is how I figure my fuel consumption on the road as I do not trust the gage, especially when it is at 50% or lower. When I fill up, I can guess pretty much to the gal how much it will take. I just need to remember to reset the odometer trip meter. learned not to trust the gage after a couple of times loosing the generator fuel feed due to low level.
  17. Jim, What do you have inside the coach? If you do not have a residential refrigerator yet, I would do that first, then consider if you need the extra freezer. When we converted to the Samsung RF18 in our Windsor, we have both sufficient freezer and refrigerator storage, unless you are full timing perhaps. Then you may need the extra freezer space, but you loose basement storage, which we fill up as pack rats, and we have a 41' coach. We take too many toys with us when we travel. Beach stuff, mostly.
  18. I searched the Motorhome tires website. They have the M144. Would cost 20% premium after installation and taxes. I can wait.
  19. My '06 Windsor, I believe, did come with 295/80R/22.5 tires. Those are the Michelins that are on there now and they have aged out. The sales man at the local truck tire store here quoted the Toyo 295/75R22.5 M177 as that is what they have on hand. Not knowing much about Toyo I wanted to do research and concluded the Toyo M144 295/80/22.5 is a better tire than the M177 even though both are load range H and 16 ply rated, the 144 have a higher load range and if pressured properly could give a smoother ride (Rev per mile is 518 vs 501for M144 ) . They area better match to the original Michelin 80R as well. Cost of 6 M177 vs M144 drive out is $3995.60 vs $4050.00. I had called back to the shop and talked to an experienced tire man who helped look for the M144s. The issue is the M144 are no where to be see, other than a wholesaler who wants an arm and a leg. So we will give it a few weeks and see what Toyo will do. Definitely a no brainer since I do not need the coach for a few months.
  20. I need to replace my Michelins on my 2006 Windsor. I have always run Michelins even with my previous HR. So a switch to Toyo is a new world for me. I have been reading as much as I can on Toyo and it appears Motorhomers are well satisfied with the performance of Toyo and the price is competitive with the purchasing program of FMCA for Michelin. Where I am now stuck is the difference in designations of Toyo M144 and M177. My local dealer is recommending 295/75R22.5/16 M177 STR/DG $ Toyo 547130 Are the M177 only long distance trucker tires? Why are all your discussions centered around M144 with no discussion of M177? They are also discussed elsewhere as RV use.
  21. Ivylog... I purchased a few rolls of LEDs and intend to convert the lights. Yes my ballasts are failing and I purchased a conversion kit a few years back for too much money and used it in the toilet room. It is daylight and way too bright. The rolls I purchased to convert the remainder of the coach, we also use in model railroading and cost only $5ea pre-pandemic off eBay. At that time, retailers like hobby lobby were selling a roll for over $40. I do not know current pricing. I was wondering what are the "panels" you reference as an alternate to the LED strips? 22. Before trading up to our used 06 Windsor, we had a 38' 98 Endeavor. Great coach, but like others we about froze. We were headed from Houston to the Rose Parade on I-10 and could not get the front end warm. We had generator running to power electric heaters, furnace running, towels tucked everywhere, and we were wrapped in blankets. After the Parade and game, we headed to UT to ski. Mistake. If overnight in VanHorn was cold, the base of the mountains was worse. Everything froze., even with trouble lights from the local hardware. The Windsor is better equipped for the cold.
  23. Walter hit the nail on the head. Not to worry. Run the icemaker also. We just have the 4 Golf cart batteries and the original modified sine wave inverter. No issues with the RF18, just run the genset in the AM and PM for a couple of hours. I have just begun to convert the puck lights to LED and intend to convert the tube fluorescents to LED strips. By the way, for conversion we brought the refrigerator in the driver window. Should have made the conversion years ago.
  24. I had a similar experience with my Bosch washer. The previous owner chose to have the washer/dryer connections converted to 240v so they could install Bosch units against the advice of Lazy Days in FL. Of course, I purchased the coach under 1 yr and less than 4000 mi, and did not realize that you can only wash or dry with a 50 amp hook which is not an issue 90% of the time. Well the cold water valve broke due to road vibration and water leaked in to 75% of the washer level. Could not pump out as the generator only produces 120v and the Bosch washer uses 240v. I do not know if Splendide has an emergency drain, but the Bosch does. It is a little black 1/4" plastic flex tube in bottom front door. I cold not figure what that was for previously. Now I know. I slowly drained into a waste bucket, and after many trips to the bathroom sink, done. Thank goodness, as we did not have 50 amp service for days. By the way, never put a Bosch into a Motorhome. They are great appliances "for the home" not the road.
  25. I should add that the problem with the drip and water on the floor tile, occurred after hook-up at night and the slide was extended. Our first day of vacation was halted and we returned home for repair. The water was also dripping on the inverter in the basement, entering that area via the bundle of water hoses from the distribution system.
