  1. Dear Monacoers, My father, Ken Stender, passed away on 22 September, and I am selling his 2009 Monaco Dynasty. He bought it new and has taken meticulous care of it, including keeping it in the garage when he was not traveling. I have, what I am assuming, every single manual and service record since he purchased it. It has a brand new Samsung 18CF stainless steel refrigerator that was installed in July of this year by Oregon Motorcoach Center, and the couch was replaced last year. It has 83,139 miles on it. Please call or email me if you or someone you know may be interested. Kind regards Stacie Stender +1.443.721.5362 scstender@me.com
  2. Tom, I have an Easy Lift/Coach Lift sitting in my garage. I bought it for my late wife to use probably around 15 years ago. She passed in 2015 so I took it off my 09 Dynasty shortly after she was gone. It's yours if you can come and get it. I live in Reno and I imagine that it would be difficult for me to get it packaged up to send to you as It is bulky and quite heavy. Fairly east to install. I installed a fairly heavy 4" angle attached to the step box to support the weight at the bottom then drilled a couple holes through the coach sidewall to support the upper bracket. I got the power from the front run box. Think it requires 30 amps.
  3. Lost power to the Thetford Tecma toilet in my 09 Dynasty. The Tecma specs call for a 40 amp fuse, so I thought it would be easy to find. No luck finding the fuse I’ve got the original Monaco Owner Manual I don’t see a circuit or fuse location for the Tecma mentioned anywhere. Help!!! We’re living in the coach and it’s a bit of a pain to run to the RV Park restroom several times a day. Ken Stender
  4. The water pump on my 2009 Dynasty ISL has started a small leak and it's time to think about pump replacement. I would like to replace the pump, idlers, tensioner and serpentine belt while doing the replacement. I remember seeing a posting some time back about a member buying a kit containing all of these items but couldn't find the article in the archives. Does anyone have this info? 5. The parking brake must be applied in order for the HWH slides to extend . On my 2009 Dynasty the wire that goes from the parking brake air switch located on the firewall to the HWH brain was loose as installed by Monaco at the factory. I fought interim slide deployment for several months before I discovered the loose connection.
  6. Cummins uses a variable volume turbo on some engines. I had a problem with this system while the ISL engine in my 2009 Dynasty was still covered by the Cummins 5 year warranty. The Cummins shop replaced the turbo itself, the turbo tachometer sending unit and finally they figured out that the problem was with the variable volume unit. Not too sure how it works, but I was told that it is not a waste gate but works in conjunction with the EGR system. What happened was that on a long pull the engine would lay down and the boost would drop down to the 10 to 12 psi range. Wow! When you are on a 6 or 7 percent grade going about 36 mph in third gear and you lose power, you don't have much room to move onto the shoulder, if there is one. This happened to me about ten times before Cummins replaced the variable volume unit. Whenever this happened I would stop, turn off the engine, wait awhile and then restart and go on my way. It happened very randomly.
  7. Also state the year and model of the coach please
  8. Try Packer Truck Repair at 775-329-1872. They have a trucking business but also take on other customers. Also, there is a Freigtliner dealer near the Petro truck stop
  9. I think it's a matter of safety. My 2009 Dynasty is constructed semi-monocoque style using mild steel square tubing with welded joints. It's like a rigid box. I've been to the Newmar factory in the last couple of years and they were using aluminum extrusions in place of Monaco's steel tubing and the extrusions are fastened together with tec screws. Back in September I saw a photo of a newer looking motorhome which was involved in accident on US 395 south of Susanville, CA and the chassis was shown in an upright position with what looked like the floor system still attached to the chassis. Looked like a gas coach. The "house" box was laying on it's side next to the chassis, somewhat intact. The screws holding the sidewalls to the chassis obviously pulled out. We all are having service issues with our older Monacos, but I for one feel safer with my Dynasty. The interior may be dated, but the cabinets, floor tile and carpet still look new. A friend of mine had a 2009 Executive and his wife fell in love with a new Newmar Mountain Air because of the gorgeous interior. The new coach turned out to be a piece of junk and they have been in lemon law negotiations for nearly a year. The chassis was a Freightliner and it dog tracked down the highway. Apparently the drive axle trailing arms were not equal length. Also lots of interior fit and finish items. So we are keeping our old dog. Keeps me busy trying to figure out how to fix the latest issue.
  10. To further clarify my previous post, it is my understanding that the major weight of the bedroom “dresser” slide box is carried by the two black rollers that run against the fiberglass bottom of the box. These rollers are about 4 or 5 inches wide and are spread out at about the quarter points of the slide box. If you will lift the slid box slightly the rollers can be adjusted upwards, which will thereby relieve some of the weight on the center guide roller. I think that the primary job of the center roller is to keep the slide box positioned fore and aft. Ken Stender
  11. The support rollers are positioned to bear the weight of the slide box on the unprotected fiberglas bottom of the box. Over time the rollers started to cut through the Fiberglas on my 2009 Dynasty. The guys at Elite RV in Harrisburg, OR fixed the problem by installing stainless steel “slider plates” on the bottom of the box for the rollers to run on. Ken Stender
  12. I own a 2009 Dynasty that I bought new in 2008. My dual Aqua Hot electric heating elements probably have many hundred hours of on time over the past 12 years and I am wondering if these elements ever deterioriate similar to what happens in a residential electric water heater. Has anyone ever had to replace their elements? How many years do they typically last? Is this that the technician should be checking the next time I have the Aqua Hot serviced?
  13. I have heard nothing but praise about the radiators sold by Source Engineering. I have also heard that there are radiators made in Asia that appear to be well made but are known for early failures due to cracking and metal failure. Our diesel engines vibrate excessively and the metallurgy of the radiators is extremely important.
  14. Check out the current Newmar products. They are using wood joists in the floor system. That’s right. Wood. Just like in the storage shed in your back yard
  15. I bought a Signature with an ISX engine new in 2006 and it had slow cranking problems from day one. Monaco replaced the apparently good Lifeline starting batteries twice under warranty with no improvement in the slow cranking. While at Camp Monaco a fellow 06 Sig owner told me that his coach had a similar issue and that the problem was with the main ground wire lug which was welded to the frame on the passenger side behind the tag axle. I told the Service Center guys about it and they ground off the poorly connected stud, welded on a new one and the problem was solved. Remember guys and gals that the ISX is 15 liters of high compression diesel engine and you cannot expect it to crank over like your old 289 Mustang Ken, 2009 Dynasty
  16. I also have a 2009 Dynasty and was able to correct the red light problem by removing the sensor pad on the outside of the black tank. I cleaned off the sticky stuff that held the sensor in place and re-installed the sensor with clear 3M double sided tape. Has worked fine for over a year now.
  17. A generous dose of ATF (automatic transmission fluid) applied from the top works for me. The ATF lubricates and also has enough detergent qualities to clean away the dirt and grime. Be sure to place a drip pan under the slide because is does get a bit messy. There will be some oily residue on the ends of the slide box for awhile, but you can eventually clean it off.
  18. I remember from back in the days during my many factory tours at Coburg that the front caps were constructed from fiberglass similar to a small boat hull. The windshield opening was raw and needed trimming to fit the size of the windshield. I think they used a sawzall to do the trimming and sometimes the opening didn't actually match the size of the windshield with the proper margins around the edges. Over the years I have met several Monaco owners who have suffered the dreaded cracked windshield problem. To my knowledge the only fix has been to have a competent boat repair shop (or a RV body shop) re-do and enlarge the fiberglass opening to fit the windshield and then install a new windshield. Not cheap!
  19. Unfortunately congress has voted to take away our DNS (East coast/west coast feeds) effective June1. At this writing I have only lost both ABC feeds and CW (no big loss). I have been using internet feeds to get YouTubeTV, Netflix and Amazon Prime, which is OK, but I really hate losing my ability to record east coast programming three hours ahead of my Pacific time. I guess I can record on YouTube TV, but that’s only for the current day and cannot be used for repeat recording Thinking maybe I should scuttle Directv and go with Dish to save a few bucks
