  1. Thank you for this writeup. I've had noisy steps every time i enter or leave and it is driving me crazy. Just today started looking for repair and did not like the retail prices on the per bolt kits. Your list helps and I may go with the Amazon kit as it is much cheaper.
  2. Have an 03 Holiday rambler Neptune 36PBD 300ISB and am looking for the 6 bolt automatic water drain separator. It is on the front tank and I do not have air brakes. Mechanic cannot find one and don’t know part numbers. We do not know if it is available, a work around, or replacment so all help is great. It is slowly leaking and I could not hear it but the mechanic can. Dale N 03 Neptune 36PBD
  3. Just did 6 M122 Toyo 255/70R/22.5, spin balanced, mounted and all other costs for $2800 in mid Michigan. Tires were less than 4 months old when installed. I do this every 6 years to be safe
  4. This will convert the .wr1 files to what you need. https://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/Other-Office-Tools/ABC-Amber-Lotus-Converter.shtml I would also like to access the files you have. Dale N 03 Neptune
  5. Just replaced the caps on my 03 HR Neptune and used Autozone Duralast #5791. $18.01 each and seems to work well. Problem is they are not keyed the same and also use a different keyway. I color coded them so I know which is which. Dale N 03 Neptune
  6. I have the 2003 Neptune so prices may be different. May of 2021Rotors were $237.41, Calipers were $258.1 and labor was around $500. Can't be more accurate since other labor was done. I hope this helps. I believe the pads were alright just the calipers locking at times. The parts were, I think, International Harvester. Work was done at a local independant in mid-Michigan. Dale N
  7. I have replaced the old fuel caps with vented ones due to a problem several years ago. A friend was following and noticed nothing other than long time to get to speed. Trans shifted like normal at the right times and the rpm was like it always was. Trans was serviced Commins a few years ago, fluids changed at Maintenance session, Silverleaf did not show anything different than what I see on it for the past couple of years except boost never went over 20 and % load never over 60. The Neptune does not have a diagnostic switch but my Silverleaf shows everything as it happens. Nothing unusual. It seems like the exhaust brake is the most likely culprit and I'll get to it in a couple days. We are home for 5 weeks then to SD, Havasu, Phoenix, TX, and then 6 mo in FL. Thanks for all the suggestions. I just now need to get to the exhaust brake. Dale N 03Neptune
  8. There is a gauge on the air filter and I routinely keep the side grill clean. The fuel filters are recent and the water separator bowl was without ANY water in it. A great thought on the exhaust brake. Now I will need more help. I am a mechanical engineer but when it comes to vehicles I am a 'Parts Changer' so I will go out, now that we are home for 5 weeks and find it. What is the recommended lube for this? I know I do not want to attract dirt. Dale N 03 Neptune
  9. 03 Neptune 36PBD, 300 ISB Cummins with Focus toad. In Upper Michigan, good weather, had an 8% downhill grade of 1500 feet, curve, then sudden construction stop at bottom. When flagman released us had a loss of power where boost would not go beyond 20, engine load maxed out at 60%, and getting up the hills was very slow. On the way downhill I had hard breaking, sharp turn, and applied the exhaust brake. The oil pressure of 56, temp of 198, 2100 rpm, had not changed from what was normal yet the 'stop engine' light came on. Stopped and checked all issues, had no water in fuel as had just filled in small city. We continued slowly to the next campground and stayed for 2 nights. meanwhile checked for lose hoses or clamps on the turbo and CAC. CAC did not have crud on it and had been replaced 4 years earlier. When we left that campground the boost and engine load was back to normal and 'stop engine' light was gone. Had a great 386 mile trip that day as normal. My questions are 'What can cause this?" 'What else could have been done to diagnose?" "How to prevent in future?" Thanks for the help. Dale Noel 03 Neptune 300ISB Cummins
  10. My Neptune has had the right front brake lock up a couple times and my mechanic has found blackened spots on the rotors. They do not appear out of round and did not pulse when stopping. He wants to replace them but we don't know where to look. I've searched the Parts List and don't see much on the hydraulic brakes. Is there a source for the rotors or a supplier that would help or whatever. This is on a 2003 Neptune 300ISB 36foot. The coach only has 64,000 miles and I have had it for only 4 years. It seems to have been taken care of but all that is unknown. Thank you for any help. Dale Noel 03 Neptune
  11. Now I start over. It worked yesterday when the humidity was high. Today after the rain it again is not working. Now to weather proof all connections since I know they work but the weather has an effect. Dale 03Neptune
  12. The update that was promised won't give a solution. FIRST: The slide works as it should Here is what was done. Double checked the switch, reversed the wires, swapped wires with the other slide, put in a different switch. No change, only out but not back in. Reversed wires at the motor and found the motor will work both directions and eliminated the motor Bought a 87a relay and tried it in all of the positions one at a time and did not change malfunction Removed circuit board and cleaned like Bluetoad7 suggested with no change. Tried the relay swap again and no change Traced the wires from the motor to the circuit board. Built the Bypass control per Bob Nodine but had not installed. Ordered 2 more 87a relays since they are cheap and was going to put in tomorrow. Went out to try the switch again and it works. Only possibility was moving all things around made a connection. Pretty much like the DW saying something is broke and when I try it the thing works. I am going to keep all parts as spares and spray circuit board with dielectric I use on RC boats to keep water off. Thank you everyone for the help. I learned a lot but solved nothing. Time well spent and glad for the education. Still don't need it until July as Michigan is locked down. Dale N 03 Neptune
  13. I was getting upset with myself in that some things did not make sense. Then, took the plug off the motor and jury rigged wires to cross these connections and the slide will then go in but not extend. Somewhere else there is a problem and I'm slowly trying to find it. m Thanks everyone for the help so far and I'll keep looking and post what I find. I did order a $4 switch and will start with that replacement. Dale 03 Neptune
  14. Further details on bed slide. The assembly was a Dewald DN14666 with a Power Gear motor 522791. After talking to Lippert, who bought Power Gear who bought Dewald, the assembly is obsolete and does not have a replacement. Then talked to a local motor rebuilder and there are no parts available so he said he will check the motor out and repair if necessary. Also hae a call into Bontrager's in White Pigeon, MI for a possible part. They are only dealing with emails. I hope the motor is alright and there is another relay that could be the problem. All fuses known have been checked.
  15. UPDATE: I don't need this fixed until late June so was not willing to work in the cold. Michigan is still locked down and just warming up. Checked switch by moving wires for rear slide to front switch and same for other switch. Everything worked as it did the other way. Since nothing changed I assume the switch is alright. Then purchased a spare 87a relay, $6.14 at Advanced Auto, and one by one put it in the four positions on the existing panel board. Nothing changed with each position. One of the relays' has text of 'ignition dis-engge' Does anyone have any other suggestions or how to check the motor. I am not sure if the motor reverses or if there is a clutch some where that is not engaging. Thank you for the help so far and I'm sure we can solve this.
  16. Bob, Thanks for the suggestions. I did swap the wires and switches for both slides and the result was the same. I'll look for the one board and see if it is in the battery compartment. Right now we are home and safe so there is no hurry. Also only 38'F so not too much in a hurry. I'll get to this in a day or so and let you know. I also want to empty under the bed to make sure all is connected better there. Will post photos of the motor connections when I get there. This has sat for 5 months while in FL and would not close when we tried to leave. 03 HR Monaco Neptune 36PBD with ISB300 Dale Noel
  17. My bed slide extends but will not retract. Needed to disengage mechanism to crank slide in. Have not had time to check motor but it will only actuate to extend. The switch is good and contacts work both ways. Have not had the problem before. Will check fuses in the morning but not sure where it might be. 12V fuses in bedroom are the first possibility. Don't know if there is a relay that might not be actuating. Looking for any suggestions or directions. 03 HR Monaco Neptune 36PBD with ISB300 Dale Noel
  18. We have the MH at a seasonal site in Spring Hill. Don't want to move as we have already paid for a site. We also do the MS in Elkhart as it is close to home in Michigan.
  19. To bring everyone up to date on the results. Had one cell of each parallel pair that was bad. Generator would not start unless engine was running and had a code of 1. Replaced all 4 GC2 Duracell batteries that were coded as Feb 2014. Found most connections were not as tight as I would have liked. We bought this coach 3 years ago and did not check the connections. (My fault). Now all is working well and the genset starts and does not give a faultcode. Thank you all who have made suggestions as I did learn some in the process DaleN 03 Neptune
  20. I do have one cell in each of the parrallel pair that is bad. The battery replacement is our next step. I appreciate the information as we have only had this coach for 3 years and it is a continual learning curve. Dale 03 Neptune
  21. I have two sets of 6V Duracell Golf Cart batteries for my house battery bank. One cell on each of the pair is very very low on the SG. The remainder of the cells and all of the unaffected batteries show well. I will be rewiring the banks to only use one pair of 6Volt batteries to give me a 12Volt system for the house. Probably done on Saturday. I am hoping this will solve the generator problem. Since we do not boondock then there should not be a need to even replace the missing batteries. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
  22. Thanks Bob, I will be checking the SG for each cell today but not crazy getting underneath here due to all of the fire ants. I will look at that as soon as I am on pavement and it will then let me know between the batteries and the genset if there is a problem. I've had this rig for 3 years and did not change the house batteries but did do the chassis ones. The house ones could be very old and I'm going to look for dates later today.
  23. House batteries were charged when plugged in and also showed charged when trying to start while unplugged. I'll double check them and all their connections and let you know the results. thanks for the suggestion. I thought the genset was connected to the chassis battery. Ran the test start with the 110 connection and without it. Tried this to eliminate the transfer switch being part of the problem
  24. This may be long but all is needed. I have an Onan 5500, Mod. HDKA-2733B in an 03 Neptune, 300ISB Cummins Diesel. When going to exercise the unit, Genset, it would prime but not start using the controls in the cab or on the unit. Occasionally it would turn over a couple of times but not start. Fuel level is 7/8 of a tank, same action with breakers on or off on the unit, Fault code is 1. There is no second code. Before each attempt in a new setup the Fault Code was reset. Next oil level was made into the center of the indicators, coolant level was checked and full. Air filter was clean and not blocked. Starting trials were repeated and the same results with the same Fault Code of 1. Next Onan was tried with motorhome running and it started and runs well until the motorhome was stopped then in 15 seconds the genset quit. This happen several times until dark and we stopped testing.. Two days later I tried again with motorhome running and it would continue to run until I shut it off. The Genset would not restart without motorhome running. This scenario was repeated with the shore power connected or disconnected and results remained the same with a Fault Code of 1. I know the genset does not have it’s own battery.. Has anyone had similar experiences or have any suggestions. I do not need it as we will have FHU or will use the genny while traveling for rooftop AC. Dale, 03 Neptune, 300ISB, 5500 Diesel Onan.
