I just replaced two 22 year old AC/heat pump units in my rig. I have the five button thermostats for sale if anyone is interested. The new units required new ten button thermostats. My front Penguin has bit the dust. The unit comes on and the compressor starts but I just get outside unconditioned air. Is my assumption correct that the refrigerant is gone and cannot be recharged? If so, what replacements have folks had good luck with? It is a 13,500 btu model with heat pump (which I never use). I have the five button thermostat. Also, this issue happened right after a tree fell on the rig causing other extensive damage. Could that possibly be the cause? Thanks in advance. Large pine fell on my 2002 Dynasty last night and startled me out of a sound sleep. The front cap has separated on the top and I need a new windshield. Anyone have an idea about how deep I’m in to get damage repaired? There is other damage as well but I think the worst of it’s the cap and glass.

Sorry, Wayne, didn't mention the venting. It comes with parts and instructions to vent outside if you wish. I chose not to do so. Brouck

Wayne, I replaced a Sharp 1850 with a Sharp 1874 ty. It was an exact fit but had to make a new hole in the right side adjacent cabinet for the power cord plug. It took two of us and my helper is, unlike myself, young, strong and flexible. I’m very pleased with the result.

I just returned back to my rig in the Smokies after spending two months doing a Santa Claus gig in Yonkers NY. Apparently there were some sub 0 temps while I was gone. I’ve been greeted with a freeze damaged water pump (and maybe pipes as well). Also, and the reason for the post; one of my jacks released some pressure and I’m leaning noticeably. I tried to start the engine to air up and take initial stress off the jacks so I could relevel. I got dash lights and a couple clicks but no engagement. I then tried the jacks and got lights but no extension. 14.5 volts on the chassis batteries and 11.9-12.4 volts on the house batteries. There is no corrosion on any of the terminals and the house batteries were topped of with distilled in October. They are three year old interstate OEM type. The chassis pair are interstates as well and are two years old and not serviceable. I assume the jacks are chassis powered and they are somehow related to the starter solenoid in the forward driver side run bay. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Unfortunately I had back surgery shortly before I left for NY and I don’t really have my legs back under me yet. Happy NewYear to all! I have found the Samsung RF 18 on sale at Lowes right now. Replacing the Norcold with this unit appears to be the best option by far, both in terms of dollars and importantly safety. I thank all of you that chimed in with useful information and suggestions. I do have some slight confusion yet about the question of the insulation with the install. Some say yea, some say nay. Looks like I need to replace my Norcold cooling unit, at least, again so I’m entertaining the switch out to residential. I’ve seen issues with the previously popular Samsung units. I have a broken side window (third window in the vernacular) and I’m curious if anyone has experience with this situation. Replacement with a brand new window which must be fabricated from scratch, I’m told is $1600 including labor. Does installing a salvage piece make any sense? Thank you all.
