  1. Just a note of interest, Brake buddy portable brake system is the most popular for a reason.
  2. Look at AM solar website for mounting help.
  3. Looks like a MSW inverter. What year is coach ?
  4. Interesting. The engine temp normally runs 175 at cruise, was up to 190 going uphill, but dropped some going down the grade. Hmmmm. Also, the shift pad shows that when engaging the Jake brake, the target gear is 3. I think it only got to 4, but not absolutely positive. However, 3rd gear is also supposed to be lockup. (I think) Former owner was from Texas, so west coast grades were not something he encountered. 😟
  5. Transmission fluid O.K., Side radiator. will clean and inspect. BUT, Allisons are NOT supposed to produce heat in LOCKUP ! New to me also. Allison tech said MAYBE torque convertor was failing ? Lockup IS working, Jake brake does slow it down bigtime. Rig is right at 38k lbs with toad. Maybe my fan is not speeding up when hot ? Had it checked/serviced by Source engineering in Oregon last Summer. Supposed to be the best. 🙁
  6. On my 99 executive, M-11 cummins, allison 4060 transmission. On a recent trip thru Oregon I was noticing my transmission temp on my recently added scan guage. Accesind a long 6-7 mile 6% grade over the Siskiyou mountains, my trans temp went to about 195, 4th gear, outside air temp 50 degrees. Over the summit and down the grade into Ashland Oregon, Jake brake on low, 4th gear, 50 mph, 10 mile grade @ 6%, my transmission went up to 238 degrees. Normal temp at level cruise is about 170. Dash guage also read about 220, although they are notoriously un-reliable. Transmission is 'pre-selected' to try for 3rd gear when applying Jake brake. Talked to an Allison tech yesterday, who was 'not sure', he thought transmission should not produce heat when 'locked up' going downhill with Jake brake on. What am I seeing ? No warning lights on dash, no codes produced on transmission. Trans fluid level is good.
  7. There is a latching relay near the water pump. A square black box.
  8. We got the old 1850 microwave out, here is how it went. After unscrewing and removing the bottom plate holding the screens, we loosened the LONG screws/bolts and rocked the microwave forward. Had to remove the wood panel above the microwave to got the cord free. The hole in the cabinet that the cord went thru was TOO small for the plug. Monaco had added wiring AFTER they installed the microwave, so wiring blocked plug. I cut the cord since I am throwing the old Sharp out. ThenI rotated the microwave forward and guess what. They DID put wood screws in the lower walls of the microwave. VERY HARD to see and get to. Once I was able to remove them, the Microwave fell out. It IS HEAVY, guessing about 50 lbs. Took us old folks about 45 min. total, we will be sore tomorrow. Have ordered a Sharp r-1874T from Lowes, a drop-in replacement. Wish me luck, Jon
  9. Thanks all. Got lots of good advice and instructions. Will proceed to remove and replace with Sharp 1874T. Will report back on results . Bigjon.😁
  10. Help ! My 22 year old Sharp R1850 has died, panel is all broken, need to replace. I hear that there is a exact drop-in replacement. How do get the old one out ??
  11. What make, model, year coach. Bushings in front end are worn.
  12. Check the AM solar website, lots of good info and how to videos.
  13. Interstate sells THREE quality levels of 6V batteries, Costco sells the cheapest of the three. I have them in my golf cart. NOT nearly as robust as the trojans I replaced. I replaced the 6V trojans in my motorhome with the premium 6V interstates(green cases). Big difference in price. Interstate says the premium 6V are made by trojan. I paid $160 a peace for the premium Interstates. They are performing very well, I boondock a lot. Google the interstate web site.
