  1. I have AAA with RV and needed a short tow to a service shop in Sioux Falls S.D. I called and described my situation and told them I had a 43 foot class A, she asked how many wheels were on the motorhome. Eight I say and she said that they will only tow vehicles with up to six wheels. I still keep AAA but only for cars.
  2. Paul, that may be true. Draining the holding tanks revealed no moisture or oily substance so I think I'm good there. But, your right, I'm not going anywhere for a while and plans are to replace it. Thanks, Jim jdw12345, thanks for the link, going into my file! Jim
  3. It might be easier to rebuild than it was to find it!
  4. Thanks Ben, I'm considering that option.
  5. Yes both needles actually maybe 125 or 130 PSI then drops to a steady 120. I drained the tanks this morning checking for water and they were free of any contaminates
  6. Good morning, thanks Ben, I use the aux compressor to air up when I'm leaving the campsite early in the morning so as not to wake anyone. But even using the engine compressor the air dryer will not purge. Jim 2000 Signature
  7. Have noticed lately that my air dryer is not purging as it has in the past. I have listened for it as the compressor reaches operating pressure, nothing. Also have used an aux compressor to fill the system to 120 PSI, still nothing. Yes, the filters have not been changed in maybe three years. Could the pop-off valve be stuck? Could the filters be so clogged that it can cause it not to release? Jim Eastburn 2000 Signature
  8. Tim, that's the same as my Signature. I also had a broken string replaced but I'm having a problem with a slight unevenness when lowered.
  9. Studor Mechanical Vent, Home Depot
  10. I have a Goo Loo GP 4000, which saved me from a tow. Due to an alternator failure, we lost the chassis battery and were unable to even get a click out of the starter. Called a tow company and they said "try one of those battery jump-start things if you have one." Well, I had just purchased one a month before and was lucky enough to have it with me. Hooked it up to the starting batteries hit the boost button and it spun that ISM 500 like I had new batteries! I now own three and will not travel without one.
  11. Oklahoma has closed the toll booths or in the process of closing. Oklahoma's Pike Pass good for all Texas and Kansas.
  12. Grampy OG. Ken, when you complete your installation could you please post a picture, would appreciate it. Jim
  13. I concede to knowledge, Blue Seas ML-ARC has been ordered. Jim
  14. Bill, this might be a fix or not. My steps would not come out. The step light was on when I opened the door, so I know I had power there just no action. There is a four lead connector by the motor. When I unplugged it the step light went out. When I reconnected it, the step opened, scared me! I opened and closed the door several times just to make sure it wasn't messing with me. I opened the connection again and applied some Dialectric grease in it for a better connection. Worth a try. Jim
  15. One more thing, I fully intend to go the Blue Sea ML-ACR route but in the meantime, I have a new isolator that has been sitting on my shelf for a few years and the question is if I undo the jumpers on the old isolator and install the new one, would it function as it should with the new alternator that I now have?

  17. Thanks Myron, I think your right at this point leave well enough alone. I did find this excellent post and it may be the way to improve and prevent future problems. Thanks again, Jim
  18. Just for information, here is the repair summary. Tried to delete as very hard to read. Thanks Ivan very useful!! Myron that's a lot of information and thanks for posting. Being a electrical novice it will take some rereading.
  19. Thanks Ivan and Frank. Sorry for thee upside down pictures but... Ivan there is what appears to be a ground wire from the bottom battery connector over to the side of the case that you don't have. Should I leave that where it is? This is the original alternator to be rebuilt and the box shows what they replaced it with. Thanks, as usual for all the help. Jim
  20. No, that is not the original alternator, that is one they sourced for me. My original is sitting on my bench waiting to go to the shop for rebuild. I had better than 1/2 fuel on board so that was not the problem with the generator shutting down. Basically after the generator quit, I ran until the batteries were exhausted. The jump start pack I used is a Gooloo GT 4000. It gave ne enough juice to start and could go a few miles with just keeping it connected to the batteries.
  21. Engine Electrical Problem Traveling through South Dakota last week, I began having problems with keeping my generator running while traveling. Soon after this I lost cruise control then noticed that my voltmeter had dropped to zero. Within a few minutes the transmission dropped down to 4th and what I believe went into limp mode which resulted in a top speed of 55MPH. Hoping to press on to Sioux City another 30 /40 mile where we could get some help and avoid a tow. As we pulled off the interstate it was obvious that we were about to lose all engine power but were able to make it to the truck parking area where it just died. Across the street was a large truck repair (First State Truck Repair) but we are dead with no starting power. Of course, this was a Sunday, and they were not open. Monday, I called a tow company, but he was relucent to come out for a ¼ mile tow and suggested if I had a jump start box it should get me started and if left connected would get me across the street to the shop, and it did. “I” told the shop that it was an alternator problem and so they replaced the stock alternator (Cummins ISM 500), with a new alternator but had a problem getting a charge to the batteries and said there may be a problem with the battery isolator, they could replace it or wire around to make it work which I had them do so I could get back on the road. Now I would like to undo what they did with a new isolator and my rebuilt original alternator. But I need a picture of how the high voltage was connected at the isolator. Ivan, would you mind posting a picture of the High voltage box to use as a guide? Thanks, Jim
