  1. FYI: The Caldo fire if finally starting to settle down. Both Highway 50 and Highway 88 are now open without restriction between Nevada and Central CA in the Lake Tahoe area.
  2. I frequently travel between my mountain home located east of the Sacramento/Stockton area and our coast place in Morro Bay. The theoretically fastest route is to take I-5. I avoid it like the plague due to inconsistent traffic flow, the large number of trucks and poor conditions (in some places). My route of choice when having to head south is US 99. Yes, it passes thru several Valley towns. It has undergone a lot of improvements in recent years with many areas now featuring three lanes in each direction. it's not perfect but it doesn't beat you to death either.
  3. Valid point. Our Forrest have far more dense fuel sources than they did 100 years ago. I have lost my home owners insurance 4 times in 6 years during to companies pulling out of the market. I got lucky this year and found one company that decided to insure in our area. They too stopped writing policies 2 weeks after I signed up. So I am good for another year without having to use the expensive State Insurance program. Next year? Who knows? Bruce LaHargoue
  4. Don't get me wrong Chuck. I'm on the Central coast after being evacuated earlier this month. I left this time because the air quality index at home was 400 a few days ago. Home owner's insurance cancelled 4 times in 6 years. I too hope the wind doesn't change to the south and toward our area. It's already jumped Highway 88 near Kirkwood. As for Paradise, I lost a family member in that one. To clarify, my comment on fishing was meant to illustrate just how closed this are. Bruce.
  5. Thanks and you are welcome. I may no longer own a DP (switched to a towable) but I still think of you guys! Bruce LaHargoue, Arnold, CA
  6. This post likely won't effect many of you but... California has closed all National Forrest, State and BLM lands including campgrounds and recreation sites for at least the next 3 weeks. Might remained closed until rainfall helps extinguish our massive wilderness fires. I live in the Stanislaus National Forrest area and although this means I can't even go fishing at my nearby lakes, I fully support this move. Most places west of the Rockies are dry as a bone. So if you had plans to come and camp out for the next few weeks, don't be surprised if you have to change your plans. Additional Information on some road closures: Hwy 50, 88, 89 are all closed in the Lake Tahoe region. 49,000 people in Eldorado County have been evacuated including all of S. Lake Tahoe and part of Douglas County, NV near Lake Tahoe. I-80 remains open. Cal Trans says it may be weeks before the closed highways reopen because they are having to clear burnt trees and debris. Hwy 58 to Bakersfield, I-80, Hwy 108 and Hwy 120 thru Yosemite are your best bets for crossing the Sierra from Lake Tahoe and south. Perhaps someone else can address the Highways that are closed up in the Nor Cal Dixie Fire area. Be prepared for possible heavy smoke depending on the winds. No need for a lengthy political discussion. I just don't want to see anyone caught by surprise. UPDATE: This order does not affect national parks such as Yosemite or state parks such as Anza-Borrego Desert and El Capitan Beach. It also doesn't affect the Eldorado, Humboldt-Toiyabe and Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests. Some State Parks remain open as well. Check before you travel. Bruce LaHargoue
  7. Just a reminder for those folks that may have missed a post or two: California has removed out of state motor motorhomes from the proposed emissions inspection regulations. The original topic of this thread is no longer relevant. Bruce LaHargoue.
  8. CA just modified the proposed rule. Out of state Motorcoaches will be exempt from the emissions testing requirements. Semi Trucks now have a 3 day grace period, allowing truckers to enter the state, deliver or pickup cargo and get back out of the state before the emissions testing requirement kicks in. Basically this new law should have zero effect on all out of state RVers.
  9. As others have said, tank capacity isn't a critical factor for just tire inflation. Look for a unit that offers the best combination of adequate air pressure and CFM volume. A higher CFM rating insures that you won't standing around waiting for the compressor to put enough volume of air into the tire to fill it up. Bruce LaHargoue Currently in Morro Bay, CA
  10. For what it's worth, Cummins replaced my electric lift pump twice when I owned my '06 ISB 300hp in my Vacationer. Mine displayed the same symptoms as yours. It would start and idle but bucked and stalled under load. As others had said, I doubt if it in the tank. Mine wasn't but I never inquired about it's exact location. Also, the fuel delivery system and high pressure pump had nothing in common with Dodge trucks. The high pressure pump, like you mentioned is mounted to the engine side of the bell housing and is driven by the flywheel. Dodge trucks used a VP series pump mounted near the front of the engine. My suggestion is to perhaps find another mechanic more familiar with the engine and chassis setup. It may not be a Cummins part either. It may have been a pump installed by the Monaco Chassis shop. I think you the reason you can't hear yours run is that it has failed. Bruce LaHargoue Former owner, '06 HR Vacationer 34PDD, Cummins ISB
  11. The same thing applies to the used pickup market. Dealer's are begging for trade ins. Used inventory in CA is limited to daily rental returns. I decided to increase my towing capacity last Sunday while still staying with a 1500 series truck. I traded in my '17 Ram EcoDiesel with 63,000 miles on it to my local dealer. I got $1500 less than I paid new for the truck some 3 years earlier. That is negligible depreciation. And they still knocked $10,000 off the MSRP on my new Ram Laramie E-Torque Hemi. I was very surprised by the trade in offer. It was far greater than I had expected. Bruce LaHargoue
  12. For what it's worth, my 06 5.9 ISB in my Vacationer displayed the same symptoms. The first time it was the lift pump. The next year it was the fuel pump. 7 months later it was the turbo. Two weeks later it became somebody else's problem! By the way, it never threw a code. Bruce LaHargoue
  13. And you can add the Monaco LaPalma and it's equivalent HR Vacationer to the bottom of the list. They had diesel pusher models between 2006 and 2009. Bruce LaHargoue
  14. Did Dish every get HBO programming back? I looked into it a couple of months ago and was told by a rep that they didn't offer HBO on their system. They did say that I could stream HBO if I wanted but sometimes that's not an option. My wife is hooked on HBO so it was a deal breaker. Bruce LaHargoue
  15. I like the new site. Great work, folks.
