  1. Where is a good place to purchase replacement awning fabric for a Carefree of Colorado Eclipse awning without breaking the bank! TR Staska 06 Dip
  2. Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it. Did you have to pull the CAC to install the fan?⁰
  3. Can someone give me the diameter of the fan on a 2006 Diplomat (blade tip to blade tip). Also, the shroud opening diameter. I tried to measure but it is really tough for this 83 year old body to get an accurate measurement! I think the fan is 30" and the shroud 31". Can somebody confirm? I want to order a new fan from Source Engineering but I want to make certain I get the right one Thanks, Tom Staska 06 Dip
  4. Thank You for the phone#. Regarding the engine rebuild. We had a small oil leak. It was determined it was the head gasket. They removed the head and determined that some of the sleeves were out of tolerance causing the gasket to fail. Cummins recommended that we have the engine rebuilt. We had a good extended service policy so I said go ahead. Nineteen days later, we had completely rebuilt engine including a new head and a new turbo. $30,000 cost us $2000.
  5. The engine cooling fan in my 06 Monaco Diplomat ISL400 is starting to is starting to show stress cracks after 155,000 miles. Can anyone help me with a vendor and part #? Vin #1RF434362037009, Engine#46479548. Also, The alternator froze up last fall and was replaced. It makes me think that maybe I should replace the air compressor before I'm stuck on the side of the Mass Pike again. Also, the Dash AC pump maybe? what do you think? I'm just trying to think or things that will get me stuck on the side of the road. Once is enough for the experience. The engine was completely rebuilt at Cummins Coach Care in Arizona 18,000 miles ago
  6. MODERATOR's EDIT This topic was discussed at length in an original post. This is a FOLLOW UP and should not have had a new thread as all the details were lost. The new topic has been merged into the older one for continuity. NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS. Please do not start a new topic when the original one was not that old. Thanks End of Edit So i am the one who broke down with a frozen alternator on theMass Pike about a month ago. So I took some time to get a new hip and now I am ready to get back to the alternator problem. As I previous stated, I have a new (Wilson 160 amp) alternator installed. Between Massachusetts and Minnesota, the "Alt/charge" light and alarm started intermittently blinking on and off. The voltage at the batteries and on the Silverleaf never drops below 13.6 and the alarm stops at 14.0 but it doesn't maintain at 14 or above. The old LN alternator always ran a little under 14.0 on the average with no alarm and no problems. Is there a way to set the voltage to run a little higher or a way to reset the alarm parameters? I don't want to listen to the alarm all the way to Florida when we take off next month. Also, I just installed new chassis batteries TR Staska 06 Dip
  7. It happens as I am traveling down the road and the generator is NOT running. I realize it can happen if the generator is running or if I am plugged in. That is not the problem. We are parked in an RV Park in Prior lake MN for 4-6 weeks while I get a new hip. Maybe tomorrow or Tuesday I'll disconnect the shore power and fire up and take a reading at the chassis batteries if I get the alarm. It's so inconsistent though, that I don' know if I will get the alarm. thanks to everybody for the advise. TR Staska 06 Dip And I hope I pressed the right button
  8. I was not running the generator when this happens. The Alternator is a Wilson #90-01-4577N. I put more info on posts to Hutto and Truex so I won't repeat it here. Any suggestions are appreciated. Also, I do notice that I am getting that scary pause sometimes when starting up. The chassis batteries are 5 years old. I disconnected the Trik-L-Start the other day and left it off for two days then checked the voltage. The voltage was 12.4 on the chassis batteries. I'm getting a new hip this Thursday so my crawling around under the coach is kind of limited for the next 4-6 weeks.

  10. The alternator Bay State installed is a Wilson 90-01-4577N, 160amp alternator. One of the things that I thought of is that I have a Trik-L-Start charger charging my chassis batteries from the house batteries that I leave connected all of the time. It's never been a problem in the past but maybe the new alternator doesn't like it? I checked the diagnostics in my Silverleaf and no voltage abnormalities showed up. I have a plug in voltage readout on the console that tells me that the Trombetta, the IRD and the inverter are working when we are going down the road. What do you think?
  11. By the way, can anyone give me a part# for a replacement alternator for an 06 Dip. ISL 400 160 amps. I might want to buy a spare alternator! TR Staska 06 Dip
  12. Two weeks ago, as we were leaving Massachusetts, our alternator froze up on the Mass Turnpike and wiped out the fan belt. By the time we found a safe place to pull over, we overheated and of course it was on a Sunday. We were towed to Bay State Truck Center in Springfield by CJ's towing. Monday morning Bay State got right to it and we were on the road by 1:00PM with a new alternator, fan belt and universal joint all for a thousand bucks which I thought was excellent. If you ever break down in that area, both companies are excellent. All went well for two days, then in Port Huron, as we were leaving an RV park, the ALT/CHARGE light and alarm came on intermittently for a couple of seconds at a time. then I shut the engine off and fired up again and everything was fine until we were arriving in Minnesota three days later. Then, as we were approaching our destination, Dakota Meadows RV Park, Prior Lake MN., the ALT/CHARGE started acting up again! Intermittently, just a second or two at a time no pattern to it. I have a Silverleaf system on the Dash and there is no increase or decrease in the voltage (steady at 13.8 13.9 once in a while as high as 14.1). I checked to make certain the belt is tight and i checked to make certain the wires on the alternator are tight and no loss of power. ANY THOUGHTS? TR Staska 06 Diplomat
  13. Wow! I had no idea that I was going to hit such a hot button issue!! My original thought was that it is just too hard to maneuver a class A towing, in and out of a Buckee's. We have stopped at two and both parking experiences were terrible and the second one I sustained damage. They are NOT RV friendly!!! So for this guy ,with 33 years of RV experience, NEVER AGAIN!!!! It seems to me that they don't want big rigs. They even state "No Trucks".
