  1. At age 81 I planned to sell my 1998 Monaco Windsor, but wouldn't do it with the King Control knowing it couldn't be serviced. And it had intermittent problems. So we put on a Williams air throttle. Bought a floor mount (top of floor) pedal assembly and a matching actuator. We took the throttle return springs out of the King pedal assembly and attached it to the Williams to get throttle position info just as original. When the Williams pedal goes down it pushes the King unit proportionally. The King part that was attached depended upon the spring in the original throttle position sensor to return it to idle when the pedal was released. This part requires a skilled fabricator. In the rear, we fabricated a bracket to mount the actuator just to the front of the King actuator which was left in place as original. So cruise control still works (for now). The Williams actuator was positioned so that the cable ran under the King and very close to it. We replaced the stud-type link for the King on the fuel injector pump with a 3/8 inch Heim joint. Another Heim joint was put on the other side of the fuel injector pump level for the air throttle. We used cable and connectors purchased from Aircraft Spruce to connect the new throttle cable. The air throttle is a huge improvement over the King. Throttle response is immediate unlike the slow reacting King. Very nice when pulling out from a stop sign onto a busy highway. We should have done it years ago. Sorry I didn't take photos, but the Monaco is 1700 miles away now with it's new owner. Bill Perry
  2. JamesW, if you presently have the Air Throttle why are you considering returning to the King Control throttle? Many hours of mechanic time have been invested in getting my King Control throttle to work reliably without success. We are considering switching to the William Air throttle. With the air throttle, does your King Cruise Control still work? Bill Perry, 1998 Monaco Windsor, 8.3L mechanical.
  3. After a two year fight with the King Control throttle on my 1998 Monaco Windsor, I am ready to give up. After the last "repair" we drove it 7 hours. No problem. I sold it yesterday and the new owner had three failures on the way home. I went and retrieved it and gave him his money back. Returning with it - no problem. I refuse to sell my problems. Questions for those who have done the conversion to air throttle. Is the air modulator for the 3060 Allison the only thing needed for the transmission or are there other considerations? Which throttle pedal arrangement: through the floor, floor mount, or firewall mount? Does the King Control cruise control still work without the King throttle pedal? Happy with conversion? Any information is much appreciated. My wife decided that at age 80 I no longer need a motor home. I don't know if she is right, but then she is always right. So I do need to get it fixed up right and sell it. Bill
