  1. Have a 2003 Holiday Rambler Endeavor, so coming's up on 18 years. AC's have worked fine, and all I've had to do is tighten units a couple of times. Saw something yesterday online about a product for RV AC's called Soft Start RV. Suppose to reduce the surge at start-up, and allow one to even run 2 AC's on 30 amps. ? That's what they advertise. I've had technicians try and sell me "soft start" gadgets for home AC, which they say stops the "clump" you hear at start-up. I'm wondering if these devices reduce the "power" coming to the AC after start-up, and may damage unit long term. Appreciate any thoughts/comments. Incidentally, a couple of years ago I bought a Wackoproducts RV AC Silencer for front AC, and it REALLY works slick. $200. Bob.....2003 HR Endeavor
  2. Several months ago, a buddy and I removed the 1200 Norcold from my 2003 HR Endeavor, and installed a Frigadaire residential unit........ooooo how I wish I'd done it years earlier !! On the way out the front door, the Norcold in a final act of defiance, wacked the front dash. Not a ding that warrants professional attention, but one I'd like to try and repair. Dash is that "tan" color Monaco used for years on dashes. Lots of vinyl/leather repair kits out there, many with color kits included. Has anyone used one they liked well enough to recommend......or suggest I stay away from ? Appreciate any comments or suggestions. Bob Barton 2003 Holiday Ramber Endeavor
  3. Currently running 275/70R 22.5 Michelins on my 2003 Endeavor, that need replacing. Checked with a local tire outfit that has Falken tires at a very good price in that size. This outfit says they sell a lot of these tires to a very big local motor home dealer here in northern Calif......hummmm. I'd never heard of Falken tires, but just got the annual Consumer Reports Buying Guide and see they're mentioned favorably in several categories for auto and truck tires. Has anyone used, or have information, on this brand tire and care to comment ? Bob 2003 HR Endeavor
  4. Steven......2 months ago completed a Norcold to residential conversion in our 2003 36 ft. Holiday Rambler Endeavor; had the front propane heater under refer unit. There were three units I found that would fit the opening, with no alterations. Believe all three were 13.9 cu ft. models, so almost 2 cu ft. bigger than the Norcold. Frigidaire FFHT 1425 V, energy start rated, a Whirlpool and GE unit. All three carried, but NOT necessarily in stock or currently available, by Lowes, and HD. I wanted black, none available or on order, so lucked out a a Lowes and got a white unit and painted black. Any of the three would have worked in my unit, but I preferred the Frigidaire based on what an appliance repairman friend advised me. Plus it was the only one Energy Star rated. MH came with a 1500 watt Heart Interface, Freedom 458 Series Inverter/Charger. We haven't taken any long trips with it yet, but I have run it several days without charging off 4, 3 year old Costco golf cart batteries, and didn't drain them down all that much. Once this thing gets cold, runs very little, and that was empty !!! Soooo, there's my story, and I'm stickin to it :))))))
  5. Six years ago I added a Blue Ox True Center steering device to my 36 foot 2003 HR Endeavor; which still seems to be working fine !! I've been following discussions about Sheppard/TRW steering boxes recently; got under the coach, and found I have a Sheppard . We haven't taken any long trips in a while, so I'm relying on memory, but do recall after a 6-7 hour day of driving, I wasn't a particularly fun person to spend the evening with........Sitting, engine off, I'd say my steering wheel has about 1 1/2 inches of play before resistance felt, which I understand is within specs. for a Sheppard, but before True Center would kick in ? I'm thinking about a TRW changeover. Guess my question is this; Does anyone feel the True Center, or Safe-T Plus would have a dampening effect on the steering play wander associated withSheppard box ? Appreciate any comments/suggestions. Bob 2003 Holiday Rambler, Endeavor
  6. Bob...... Did you install the MCD shade yourself ? Did you leave partial curtains for driver/pasenger side windows ? Robert Barton 2003 HR Endeavor
  7. It seems to me, back when members first started replacing Norcolds, there was a lot of talk about having to add/replace our 2000-6 square or modified wave factory installed inverters with a pure sine wave inverter when converting to a residential refer. I think the supposed problem wasn't so much running the refer, but with automated/timed functions such as defrosting, etc. Anyway, lately I haven't seen that mentioned, and have seen several report their residential refer conversions running just fine with their older/original inverters. I'm considering going residential, and would appreciate any thoughts or comments about using my old Xantrex 1500 w inverter/charger.......which has been rebuilt, and working fine.
