  1. That's because you're trying to adapt it to the INSIDE of the door which doesn't work. The strut is installed on the OUTSIDE of the coach door, which IMO was the deal breaker for me. Good luck...Dennis
  2. I had 'evidence' a rat was in my engine compartment. So I rigged up a camera and recorded the party that was taking place at night while I slept. See the two videos below....Dennis First night: IMG_4301(2).MOV IMG_4302(1).MOV
  3. I had one of my side windows break, not sure how but since they were double paned only the outside broke. I researched it as you are and found any competent glass company can replace them. Only issue I had was the window was bronze and most companies like Safelite only carry grey or smoke. I laughed at the insurance company (I'm no longer insured with them) because they said they wouldn't pay unless I used one of their companies. I told them it would be like putting a green door on a red car. The window color MUST match. I found a local company that replaced it with bronze and it was $600 for the window including installation. After getting past the adjuster to a supervisor's supervisor, they paid in full and waived the deductible..There is nothing fancy about the side windows other than double paned. Any glass company can help you.....Hope this helps...Dennis
  4. Perhaps it's time to look into the ReadyBrake and ReadyBrute products. I've been using mine for 11 years with zero problems. The braking system is built into the tow bar. I can't help you with the BrakeBuddy or the Blue Ox as I haven't used the BB for 11 years and I'm sure there have been upgrades during that time. After years of using the BB I discovered the ReadyBrute. No extra stuff to cart around and nothing to hook up or break. JMO, but I think it's worth a look. Best of luck...Dennis https://www.readybrake.com/
  5. You should have three, or more, ways to turn on the genset. Did you try the bedroom switch? If you're having the same issue with all switches, then it's in that wire loom....Dennis
  6. Jim, a couple of things. Putting "closed" the way you did, looks like your topic is closed. At least that's the way I first interpreted it. You may want to reword that. Second, I'm guessing you've accessed the INSIDE of the stuck closed door thru the body of the coach. If I'm correct, that square you see is attached via 4 screws and can be removed to activate the opening/locking mechanisms. Most likely one of the pins has come loose or maybe just needs adjustment. Either way, remove that square cover and manually operate the mech. Make sure the lock is in the OPEN position. Below is a picture of the type of clips that hold the rods in place. They're available at any auto parts or hardware store......Dennis
  7. Bob, passenger side of the genset at the top is a wire loom of about 10 wires. There is a connector there that is exposed to the elements. It's most likely zip tied. Open that connector and look for loose, dirty or compromised wires. Clean the connections and reassemble then try it. Best of luck....Dennis
  8. Steve, the Fire Stick is a pretty simple device. Even without connecting to the internet, it should show up on your screen. Since it doesn't there's really only two, actually three reasons why it won't. 1. Device is defective. Since you said it works in the house, I'd assume it's fine unless you did something to it moving from the house to the rv.; 2. Your HDMI port is bad or malfunctioning. Try a different HDMI port or plug another device into that one and verify it works.; and 3. Your device is not powered up. My TV has a separate receptacle where I can plug it directly into the TV. If yours does not, verify the receptacle that you're using is hot. You can also try to reset your device using your remote. To do so, press and hold the select button and the Play/Pause button at the same time for 5 seconds.... hope this helps.....Dennis
  9. Duh! I apologize for not re-reading your original post where you said it's a model 6600. My sources tell me there is no replacement for that remote. Etrailer thought the FV9068-09 would work but apparently it will not. Soooo...you might try some of the RV salvage yards or simply upgrade your fan. AdventureRV has an upgrade kit to the 7350 with remote for $163 bucks....Dennis https://www.adventurerv.net/fantastic-vent-upgrade-kit-7350-wireless-remote-off-white-p-30975.html?osCsid=g6b2uec0vt98ferv85vjj5hbj3
  10. Bob, what's the model of your Fan-tastic Vent.?? Obviously the 417RF is obsolete but there may be a substitute for it. Otherwise junk yards will be your best bet....Dennis
  11. Tom did a great job of explaining how it works. Since you indicated you have the GFCI breaker, start there. If it won't reset then I would replace it and see if your issue goes away. Replacements are available at Home Depot. Make sure everything is OFF and coach unplugged BEFORE opening up your breaker panel. If the problem doesn't go away with the new breaker, then you will have to start check every receptacle. As Tom pointed out, these are mobile home type receptacles. If one of the wires 'pops' out of the V notch that can cause a short. Receptacle replacements are easy, just use a regular receptacle from any hardware store. You will have to install a box also. I've replaced several in my coach as I don't care for the snap in place ones. It will take a little more work to replace them but it's worth in IMO. Another plus is getting a receptacle with a USB port which is beneficial in some cases..Be sure to let us know what you find.....Dennis
  12. They just want to make sure you get it!
  13. Try removing the plug in the front and see if you can tighten it that way before you replace it. There should be a plug where the red/blue dots are. An allen wrench is necessary to tighten.. If it is a Danze, they have a lifetime warranty.....Dennis
  14. Look in the kitchen and bathrooms. Not in the obvious places though. I think Monaco techs sometimes play games with us. I've seen receptacles in the strangest places. Look UNDERNEATH the medicine cabinet and the one over the toilet. Look also under the cabinets in the kitchen as well as that one that's hidden next to the sofa.....think of it as a treasure hunt. Finally, look in your breaker box for a breaker that's different than the others. Some will have a white button on them and some will simply have a white wire attached. Let us know if your box has any of those..See below.....Dennis
  15. BINGO! Your rig HAS a GFCI somewhere. I have three. One in the bathroom, one in the basement compartment and the third in the engine compartment for the block heater. You may have one behind your fridge. Pull the outside cover and look in there with a flashlight. Also, post the brand and model of your inverter. Often it's hard to find the circuit breakers on the inverter as they are simply buttons that need to be pushed in. See pic below.....Since you don't know where your GFCI is, my money is on it being tripped.....Dennis
  16. I took mine out and filed it in the dumpster. It's much easier to simply roll the hose up. I do use the power cord reel but the hose reel was IMO just a waste of space.....Dennis
  17. The salesman switch is by the front door. Make sure you didn't accidently bump it. Assuming it's ON, then check the relay. For more info on the relay, refer to the link below or simply go to the Electrical issues page here....Dennis
  18. Looks GREAT, Steve. By the time this virus thingy is over, we'll all have brand new looking coaches. The repair shops are really losing a lot of money...and we're getting right up close and personal with our rigs...Dennis
  19. Well, no one had a replacement stair nose, sooooooo on the advice of my wife, I modified what I had. I ordered a replacement part from MD Supply via Amazon. This was a vinyl strip instead of the hard plastic. Using a sharp blade, I cut off the bad part of the original nosing across it's entire length. I then modified the MD part to match that which I had cut off. I then glued the new strip in place with some construction adhesive from Liquid Nails. Finally, I put the original modified part back in place. I'm happy with the result. Only time will tell if it holds up to the wear and tear of the step. Here's the final result...Dennis
  20. Woody, Group 31 would be 12VDC and be your starting batteries. Your house batteries would be GC2 or similar and be 6VDC. The reason for Golf Car Batteries for the house is you don't need CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) for the house, but you do need them to be cycled frequently which is what Golf Cart batteries are designed to do....Dennis
  21. Sorry Woody, but constant cleaning is the bane of all RV steps. Think of where they are and the amount of road debris, dirt and grime that they are subjected to. They should be cleaned every time you wash/service the coach or at least after every couple trips depending on when and where you've driven. Obviously rain and snow demand immediate cleaning. I clean mine every time we get to a new campground. Once a month, they get treated to the silicone treatment. Mine work like new.....Dennis
  22. IMO, never, ever, trust hydraulic jacks to hold up the vehicle while you're under it. Blocking is the ONLY safe method. Be safe....Dennis Most likely then, you have an air leak. Get a bottle of kids bubbles from the Dollar Tree. Liberally spray around the air bags. As they age they can leak. Also the fittings around them and everywhere in that area. The way I do it is when I do my annual oil filter, oil, fuel filter and lube, I get it done at my local SpeedCo. They will allow you in the 'pit' and check your fittings then. Often they will simply do it for me but I've been going to them for several years. Doesn't take long and I get to ensure there are no leaks. If any are found, at least they're pinpointed. Block the coach and fix it or take it to a competent shop for repairs. You'll know where the leaks are. Last year I found six places where air was escaping.....good luck..Dennis DL..You beat me to it.!!!
  23. Ron, this is just my opinion but without the computerized assist when trying to level your coach, you may find yourself twisting the frame to the point of windshield breakage and/or slide issues. I would not recommend leveling as you've described above....Dennis
  24. Thank you. Now that I know what it's called, I can order one. If I can find the replacement AND stores open up again. With the stay at home order in place we can't get the parts we need to fix the things we now have time for. :).....Dennis
  25. Last month while exiting my coach I forgot to pick up my feet, (just had a knee replaced) and tripped on the plastic floor piece at the top of the stairs. Fortunately I did not fall but I did damage the piece of plastic that goes across the step. It's the transition piece over the tile entry to the steps. I'll post a picture of it tomorrow. My question is, if you know what I'm talking about, where can I get a replacement piece ???? TIA ...Dennis
