  1. I'm really sorry that the expert is no longer available. I had mine rebuilt and then checked out by Steve (?). But I've been in mind and believe there are 'fix it's places that can fix it, just got to find one. FYI - Mine needed rebuilding because the electric motor that moved the cable lost a bushing. I had it checked out because my rig just wasn't shifting properly. I later found out later that I installed it incorrectly. I put the cable pull in the middle hole but it needed to be in the hole closest to the armature.
  2. Hi there. I hace a 96 Monaco with the 8.3C and King cruise. Many years ago I had to have my King cruise rebuilt. When I got it back and installed it my rig was down shifting too soon. It just never gave me the great power performance . I talked to Steve about it and couldn't figure it out. About 5 years ago I had Steve give it a refresh. This time Steve told me, as if I should already know, that the throttle cable is connected to the throttle lever at the hole closest to the armature, not out in the 2nd whole which is what I had done the last install. What a great fix that was. So, just some info that might help. I sure hope all goes well. Be safe and visible out there. Steve King
  3. I apologies to any who wanted a reply. I 'm not one to frequently visit this site and have not learned to get notices of any replies to my posts. So, one question was about zero restriction connections and if they are equal to a how with no connection installed the answer is yes. To me, very cool design. Thank you all for being part of this very important site. I have learned so much from many of you and love trying to help when I can. Have a wonderful 2023 and I hope to get my rig in better shape and on the road once more. I just love it when I can use my rig!!
  4. Great to hear. I have a 96 Dynasty and have had my King Cruise rebuilt once and serviced one other time. So... I would like to have that link and other links on how the change over is done. Thanks
  5. From back to front: a very short one from pump to next longer one. This second piece went to the third hose that ran the full length the the backbone with maybe 6" or so hanging out front and back. The last connected this 3rd hose to the steering box.
  6. Hi there. I had my hydraulic hose fitting near the pump give out. It was the type that gets push in and the collar screwed on to compress the hose and fitting together. And that didn't last long. Luckily I was able to put it back together and limp home with slow and easy turns. I have a '96 40' Dynasty. What I did was to replace the hose. Yes, all of it. It is not too difficult to take down all the panels that cover the center "backbone" to the rig. Once open loosening the bands around all the hoses and wires wasn't too hard. I then had the replacement hose built 4 sections using zero restriction (?) fittings. One hose was about 2'long from pump to next hose which went from that section to next one that went from just outside the backbone (rear fire wall?). The hose running in the backbone went all the way to the front of the back bone leaving just enough extending out to attach to the last hose that went to the steering box. When I installed the new hose down the backbone I also included two wires and a strong cord just incase I needed them for future use. I secured the hoses and wires back up leaving the cord free to pull through if needed. This did take a while but it wasn't too hard when I did it in my late 50's. But I think I could do it now that I'm 70. Side note for anyone designing rigs like ours - if able, always make hoses in this way - limit amount of hose exposed to weather and allow them to be changed without opening up the backbone.
  7. I have had a frequently occurring issue like yours with speed being high about 15 mph. I didn't do a stop start as you did. Mine settled down after driving for a while. My current issue is high RPM being way too high. Sometimes it settles down when I speed up the motor and other times it continues for a good while. My feeling is that in my 96 Dynasty these are caused by my alternator. I'd love to hear more about these problems and fix them.
  8. I have a 1996 Dynasty and had my odometer die. I got a replacement from a salvage yard. It worked but it wasn't giving good readings... a real mile read as 1.3 or so. It took me a while to find out how easy it was to recalibrate it. Sorry, I don't have the steps in hand but it's an easy google search. Just note that the reading is not true whenever you give the odometer reading.
  9. I know this may be odd to most but check your fuel shutoff solenoid. I've had mine go bad in a way that let me start but no power. I could even shut down normally. Filters checked, changed, checked air intake and exhaust. My issue turned out to be a broken "arm" in the solenoid which "always" causes either no start or no shut off. In my case the bellows was able to open the fuel shutoff valve only a little and allow the closing of the valve to shut ft he engine down. No one that I've talked to ever heard of this. So, just thinking it's a good thing to check... Good luck.
  10. Just a guess... to me it comes on when the key is on but engine is off let's you know the light is working. Steve King 1996 Dynasty
  11. And if those don't work I recommend Aerokroil. It's the best I've used. It's a bit pricey, $15 6 yrs ago.
  12. Hi there. I had the same problem on my '96 Dynasty. That fitting is a pressure fit...screw on/pressure of fit...sorry if wrong terms, but a shop should be able to either take it off, cut some of the hose off and put it back on or split in a short section without taking the whole hose out. It might fit your problem. Just the reinstall of the pressure fitting only worked for a short time for me. I ended up pulling off the storage center ceiling panels, loosening the support straps and removing the whole hose. Knowing how it's installed tell me you'll never just pull the old one out. I replaced mine with a 4 section hose. Front section from pump to front nulkhead, second section down the spine, third section from rear bulkhead to about 18" from the pump, and then the 18" section to pump. All fittings are zero restriction so it all works as one hose. Now I should only have to replace a section exposed to the weather. And that 18" section came in handy when my pump needed rebuilding (found way to do that on this site). That short piece made it much easier! Good luck.
  13. I use Sygic RV. It does a great job allowing you to input your rig's sizes and weight. I especially like the images of the yellow warning signs for tight turns. I think it's worth the price.
  14. Thanks for that. I can't believe that I didn't just look what the 2 AC's have and buy that. Silly. And I, too, will buy an extra. Both of my ACs have the 25 + 10Uf, 370V. Thanks again. It sure is wonderful to have this web group. It's saved me a whole lot of money over the years. Be safe and healthy, all.
  15. I am having a tough time finding the proper Run Capacitor for my Dometic Penguin AC 620315.421. Can anyone tell me, please?
  16. Ivan K and Waterskier_1 thank you very much. Great info and fun to read. I'm doing the easy thing for those back side light which are just like the 87 RV. And I'll just leave the one incandescent 1156 bulb per side to get those odd ball lights to work. And Ivan K getting an electric flasher to help is nice to know. I'll keep all this for future reference. Take care, be safe and as my wife tells me, be visible (when on the road...)
  17. I read a long time ago where someone posted about the need to change my Flasher so I could use all LEDs in my Turn/brake lights (1156 bulbs). I ask this because I am currently making the change over. I have on problem, it's an odd one. When I put 1156 LEDs in all three lights per side. My corner light (marker/turn) and the lower side (red) clearance light (turn signal/marker) don't work at all. If I put 1 incandescent 1156 back in these side lights work fine. So, is this a problem that a alternate Flasher will cure or not? I fear changing my front turn signal bulbs to LEDs and make the problem worse. So, any info will be fun to read and hopefully fix this issue!
  18. Nice! I'll work with that info. Thank you very much.
  19. just_john1, Thanks for that info. I have them here and wonder what is the best way to install them. So, how did you installed them to ensure no leaks, etc? Everything I can think of is a bit complicated.
  20. Well, I'm still searching and just ordered a set from Partsam, 4 LED. They are similar to the other ones I ordered but have less LEDs per light and the power wires come out of the center, not a corner. To me having the better wire feed is well worth the # of LEDs. I'd love to hear what other people have done. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
  21. I have a 1996 Monaco Dynasty, 40'. I've done a lot of my one repairs and other maintenance like so many of us here. And here is the best place to get great info. My last win from here was the info and pictures on the rebuild of my hydraulic pump. New the cost around $2000 and with your help it cost me $400. Thank you all for that. So, I need more help... I want to replace my clearance lights. I have done this several times in the past but they don't seem to last long enough for me. They are the Bragman 34-68. And I can't find the amber lens and would rather change to a better set and with LEDs, if able. Currently I am trying to install the Partszone Trailer Side Marker/Clearance Lights I got through Amazon. They look great, are LEDs and in my price range. But the Bargman originals have screw holes that are 3 5/16". These new ones and mostly all the other's I researched have 3" on center. Plus these new ones don't come with any gaskets, has a completely flat backing and the 2 wires come from one of the corners, not out of the center as the Bargman do and my RV is designed for. So, making them work can be done but with a good bit of effort- especially to ensure they don't leak. So, has any one found a good replacement set of lights, LED or not? Any price is OK.
