  1. Without a Soft Start, the current required to start the AC motor approaches 34-35 Amps., then settles down in the 11-14 Amp range. Most breakers can handle this brief surge, but aging components can cause a trip. With a soft start kit or option installed the current to start is more in the 18-20 Amp range. with a longer spike but still within the capabilities of a breaker to handle without tripping. Because the running current is 11-14 Amps, a qualified engineer would specify 12 gauge wire for this application. I am certain you will find 12 gauge in your coach.
  2. I do this on all my vehicles now - works great. The hard part is finding the right grade of steel wool.
  3. And fuel has not come down either. $3.79 in Georgia, but I bet it is higher elsewhere.
  4. Somfy is a morized shade manufacturer and is one of the largest in the world. Motors (somfysystems.com)
  5. We had a Tiffin and the build quality was good. First year IFS was introduced. Ours was 2005 model. Any coach that has sat will need a thorough inspection, as you said.
  6. The final solution for me is the Line-X spray on truck bed liner. You can match the color or use black. There are some DYI kits available on Amazon (Raptor). You will have to scuff the clear coat to get better adhesion. Watch your over-spray. Lots of work. To remove the adhesive, use oven cleaner, but be careful as it will attack any adhesive it makes contact with.
  7. Sounds structurally sound. If you choose to use 1" construction screws to keep the squeaking down, try dipping them in epoxy before installation. This will help keep any moisture from getting in and keep the screw from backing out. Wouldn't it be nice if coach makers would use better subflooring to eliminate these repairs? I would gladly trade the marble and tile (and grout, weight) for luxury vinyl tile with a good base.
  8. In residential construction, underlayment is screwed to the subfloor every 4 in. Do you have 2 layers under the tile? If you want squeaky proof use adhesive.
  9. A pump having to lift 1,000 ft. will be stressing. Maybe put 2 pumps in-line in case one fails next time.
  10. The most important take-away I got from this story is that Steven has a dedicated beer refrigerator.
  11. It is not recommended to staple category cable as it interferes with the transmission speed and could cause retransmission errors. Instead use plastic zip ties with a screw hole and leave them loose so you don't crimp the cable.
  12. If you ever run Ethernet cable under the chassis or exposed to weather conduit is not necessary. You can zip tie this cable as you go. I use direct bury rated burial cable as it has a sheath that is weather and UV resistant. If you are running power over Ethernet, use 23 gauge. https://www.amazon.com/Cables-Direct-Online-Ethernet-Network/dp/B0B39FTLTV/ref=sr_1_3?crid=B3007H23KUE0&keywords=direct+burial+cable+cat6+23+gauge&qid=1702649974&sprefix=direct+burial+cable+cat6+23+gauge%2Caps%2C81&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.17d9e15d-4e43-4581-b373-0e5c1a776d5d Licensed & Insured Low-Voltage Contractor GA 6OUT234RX.pdf
  13. Somewhere between 98-118k depending on condition and how it shows, mileage, service history. If it is not in good shape you could get less. Allow a discount of up to 20% if you don't want to bring it into top shape. per NADAguides: 2009 Monaco Camelot Series M-40QDP 425hp Cummins Prices and Used Values | J.D. Power (jdpower.com) Now there is only one rig on RV Trader and he is high, very high. 2009 Monaco Camelot Series M-40QDP 425hp Cummins Prices and Used Values | J.D. Power (jdpower.com) Get good pictures, use a good camera (minimum 1080P) Take time to describe the rig as if you were buying it. Good luck!
  14. We have sold 3 RVs with RV Trader. Got what we asked for every time. You just have to know what your rig is worth and be patient.
  15. We advertised our coach in RV Trader and people came from all over the country to look at it. The 3rd look made the purchase. We did not park it in public. Because it was in good condition we got asking price, but during inspection found a few items to repair ~$10,000. This is typical if you don't use it enough to know its condition as in our case. Our daughter and son-in-law had taken it over for the last 5 years. Still walked away with $$$ so very satisfied.
  16. You could replace the carpet on the riser with the same flooring material and use one of the many stair nose products available. That extra vertical tab is to hide the fasteners, but if you used stainless steel round nosed screws it would look nice.
  17. I used similar ones to the ones shown in the McMaster catalog for stairs on my deck. Not what you want..
  18. Just my 2 cents: Luxury Vinyl Tile less weight easier installation less money easier repairs easier to clean
  19. With this faucet you have the added advantage of scalding protection in case of a flush during shower. https://youtu.be/ES2LfJEyhIk
  20. It is recommended to charge the batteries prior to adding distilled water. Don't know why, but I read it on the Interweb.
