  1. Lead/Acid Batteries at 12V are 50% discharged. You are seeing 13 volts when plugged in because they are charging. When the engine is running or you are connected to power you should see 13.6-14.7, and when engine is off, unplugged from power, the batteries should read 12.7 if fully charged.
  2. I have edited my original comment to add and resort the ones I left out in transposing from one document to another.
  3. Yes, the Cayman and Neptune are "clones."
  4. Wow. Looks like some serious guessing here. Are you talking about Hughes Autoformers or Hughes Surge Protectors or Hughes EMS devices? I have looked all over and never found an instance of a Hughes Autoformer or other device causing a fire. Few things in RVs are UL listed. Even in high end solar systems. Look at Victron and you will see both UL-listed and non-listed devices like inverters. The UL-versions are much more expensive so most RV installs use the cheaper versions. The UL listed stuff is primarily for residential systems to satisfy utilities and insurance companies. Hughes has not "sold the rights" to their devices to another company. They are still manufacturing and selling them. Autoformers are prohibited in the 2020 NFPA, but there is no evidence that this is because of any fire hazard. Hughes is fighting this change vigorously and the science seems to be on their side. I suggest you read Mike Sokol's tests of Hughes Autoformers. https://www.rvtravel.com/rv-electricity-hughes-autoformer-testing-part-1/ https://www.rvtravel.com/rv-electricity-hughes-autoformer-test-part-2/ https://www.rvtravel.com/rv-electricity-hughes-autoformer-test-part-3/

  6. A 14 gauge wire should be protected by a 15A fuse, 12 gauge 20A, 10 gauge 30A.
  7. I just looked up the current draw of the coil circuit on a typical 12V Bosch-style relay, which is ~160mA. 18 gauge wire with a 10A fuse would be fine.
  8. Nice job. I would suggest you don't need 10-gauge wire and a 30A fuse for the coil circuit (85 & 86) on the relay, since it uses very little current. All that does is activate an electromagnet to close the relay. You should always fuse to protect the wire, in this case 14G from the headlight switch so a 15A fuse is a better choice. 12-gauge wire with a 20A fuse would be fine for the headlights. Using a 30A fuse to #30 is way too much to protect the 14G wire to the headlights, which I would replace with 12. Something else I have done on past vehicles is to add another relay that uses the high beam circuit to energize the relay, then sends 12V to the low beams. That way you have both high and low beams lit when the highs are on.
  9. Water filters come in four basic sizes: 10" or 20" long, 2.5" or 4.5" diameter. You probably have 10" x 2.5" filters. If you have one housing it would be for a sediment filter which can be had in various porosities, usually from 20 Micron down to 5 or even 0.5. The lower the number the smaller the particles that will be filtered out, at the expense of increased pressure drop. If there is a second housing it is normally used for a Carbon filter to remove chlorine and bad tastes. These come in different types, such as a carbon block or a GAC/KDF (Granulated Activated Carbon/Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) which removes chlorine, heavy metals, hydrogen sulfide, and is anti bacterial and anti-algae.
  10. That looks to me like the air horn compressor with a pair of air pipes coming out of it, one of which is disconnected. If you didn't disconnect it your problem might be the air just venting out of the connection instead of going to the horns. It looks like there is an adaptor fitting missing from the left connection, which you could source at any hardware store by taking the other one as a sample. I would check and see if the compressor blows air out of that open port when you push the button.
  11. LEDs generally have a wider operating range of voltage than halogens, but they are polarity sensitive. If they don't work at all try reversing the wires.
  12. I sticks to the inside of a window with suction cups close to the Mifi. You want to move it around to find the best reception. I did purchase extensions for the cords so it could be as high up the window as possible. https://smile.amazon.com/uxcell-Female-Coaxial-Cable-Jumper/dp/B07V7V19JM/ref=sr_1_4?crid=18K4NZNXRULDL&dchild=1&keywords=ts-9%2Bextension%2Bcable&qid=1616701216&s=electronics&sprefix=ts-9%2B%2Celectronics%2C228&sr=1-4&th=1
  13. This works great. Better than a WeBoost. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DN3J03O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  14. According to a recent post, some 2003-2005 Exec and Signatures that were built in Coberg, WA had bad welds on crossbars supporting A/C units. Might want to check into this or do a search on here.
  15. Very nice. I'm wondering about the SD card. Is that in a separate recorder attached? I think I'm looking at the same unit you show for the multiplexer but not seeing an SD slot.
  16. I find my Power Probe IV to be a good diagnostic tool. Not only functions for continuity, voltage, current, etc., but also can supply power or ground connection directly to an item. That said I do have a digital switching power supply but that is more of a bench testing piece that stays at home.
  17. Anyone using a 12 VDC Inverter fridge, like the RecPro Ever Chill, Unique 12/24V, NovaKool RFU9000, Dometic DMC4101, Danfoss?
  18. Perhaps the dimmer operates on the Negative side? Remember there is no "ground" in DC, just positive and negative.
  19. I know most people don't think of this anymore, but have you checked shipping via Greyhound? The can be surprisingly inexpensive.
  20. Out of curiosity: Every Koni I have had on passenger cars was adjustable. Are the ones for motorhomes?
  21. Can't tell you which ones you need, but Monaco used both Bilstein and Monroe as OE. Bilstein claims 100,000 miles life, while the Monroes are done at 18,000. The upper bushings in the Bilsteins can fail (they are different from normal Bilstein bushings) and replacement bushings are available from Bistein for $4 each. Bilstein East 1.800.745.4636, Bilstein West 1-800.537.1085.
  22. Not the lest expensive but I love their seats. https://www.recaro-automotive.com/us/commercial/recaro-ergo-mcii
