  1. I have a 2001 HR Ambassador with 2 slides. They are on the drivers side and the larger slide includes the living room and kitchen. The small slide in the bedroom is for closet and a few drawers. Both of the slides are raised. One side under the smaller slide has come loose, so I'm going to install guardian plates before it gets worse. I can see that there are rollers because of the small marks on the floor and marks under the slides. I was looking for help from someone that can tell me how I can get access to the rollers so I can check their condition ? They are installed under a 3 inch platform that holds furniture etc and I was hoping not to have to tear it apart to get to them. I'm thinking of installing the roller plates that mount under the slides as well. Any pictures or advice would be great. Thanks for the help.
  2. Close to Richmond or Williamsburg Virginia
  3. My frend just removed an Dometic refrigerator model RM 2820 from an air stream he is restoring. He said it worked great when he removed it. I was wonder if anyone could use it as is or for parts? Its in very good shape and I would like to give it away instead of throwing it away. I live close to Richmond Va. Its taking up room in my garage and I need to move it soon. Could text a few pictures if needed. Thanks for the help.
  4. Thanks Tom. I'm away from home for a few days but soon as I get back I'm give this a try.
  5. Tom I did unplug the compressor because I was afraid it might blow a fuse if it tries to come on because it's locked up. The 20 amp fuse label hvac in the front left side compartment is good. There is no current going to the control knob on the dash panel. I took the vacuum generator off and cleaned it good. Noticed had plenty of air coming from my air tank to the generator. I think it's a matter of finding why I'm not gettting power to the control switch. Still looking for a fuse or switch I can't find. Thanks
  6. Thanks for the pictures. I checked the 20 p fuse and it was good. I'm going to buy me a wire tracer and see if that will help. Like I said my air conditioner isn't working. The pump is seized up and was.like that when I bought the mh. Could that stop the heater and vents from working?
  7. Robert, I took the vacuum generator off and cleaned it good. There was a little bit of stuff inside it and the electric solenoid worked well also. I checked the air pressure before I took it off and had plenty of air pressure. I do have a problem with 12 volts going to the heater switch. It's never worked since I've owned the mh. The fan wouldn't come on and the meter shows no voltage getting to the heater control switches. I have checked every fuse and switch labeled air cond or heater and haven't had any luck finding the bad one. The air compressor is locked up so I up plugged it. I'm not interested in getting the air conditioner to work just the heater to work. Any help would be appreciated.
  8. Your picture show what mine looks like. I had a picture and wanted to post it but not sure how to attach it. Thanks for every one"s help.
  9. I was able to find my manual and it show a red tube coming off to a vacuum generator. I've been looking for a pump. Thanks so much. I' m going to try and clean it out. Do you still have this system on your mh? Don't want to change the whole system unless I really have to.
  10. Ray the red hose going down and towards the back of the coach is wrapped in black plastic and is included in a 6 in ball of wires. My question is where does the red tube go? Is it hooked to my front air tank?
  11. Thanks, I'll try to take it apart and clean it.
  12. Hey Ray I can't seem to locate the pump that is included in your response. I do have a small black metal box above the vacuum bulb. The rubber tube came out of the bulb into the box and there is a 3/8 red rubber hose that comes out and go back towards the rear of the coach. Could this little box contain the venturi vacuum generator you spoke of?
  13. I have a 2001 HR Ambassador with the 5.9 cummins. I think the vacuum pump has stopped working. I was hoping someone could give me an idea where the pump is located and the fuse that its connected to. I see the vacuum storage bulb is in the front compartment . It has one black hose coming out of the bottom of the bulb and going down under the coach towards the passenger side of the generator. It's raining today but I was want to get out tomorrow and start looking for it. Thanks for the help.
  14. Thanks for the info and picture. I'm going to try and get a better look at the pump in the morning. I was thinking it was the original gasket for the pump. I know they has a history of problems, but I've never worked on one. I'm hoping a little tightening will stop the leak.
  15. I by passed the original lift pump on my 2001 HR Ambassador with a 5.9 cummins about a year ago with the air dog unit. I am heading to florida and stopped for the night and noticed the old lift pump is leaking diesel fuel. When I installed the air dog I by passed the old unit and left it in place and just capped it off. Not sure how fuel is getting into the unit unless the electric pump is causing the fuel going back to the fuel tank to back feed to it. I just had a hip replacement 2 weeks ago and not sure if I can get down inside the engine bay and try to tighten the bolts to the pump a little. Now the leak is just a few drops ever now and then, I like to know how bad can this leak get and does anyone have a picture of the pump to help me locate where the bolts that hold the pump on is located. I looked in the engine bay and can see the pump but now much else. Thanks for any help.
  16. A friend of mine has a 93 Tiffin allegro 8.3MH. He was getting ready to replace his cabin batteries and decovered that there were 4 12 volt deep cell batteries instead of the 6 volts he was expecting. He doesn't know if the MH came with 6 volt batteries and someone changed them to 12 and can't find anything in his manuals that address it. He was also wanting to know if the 12 volt deep cell batteries were better or lasted longer them 4 6 volts deep cell. Both of these questions are above me so I thought I would put it out to people who do know. Thanks for the help.
  17. IDOC57 I have a 2001 HR Ambassador with the 5.9 Cummins with a the scan d. I found out the computer on my mh doesn't have the capability to send the trans temp to the scan d. I installed a temp probe on the line coming out to the trans cooler and mounted a gauge .
  18. Rick if u contact the manufacturer they may be able to help you receive other information that you currently can't get. They were really good helping me out. Good luck.
  19. Sounds like you may have a problem with the wiring harness from the back connector to the front connector at the steering wheel. Again make sure you clean up inside each connector hole at the back connector. I used a small copper brush along with contact cleaner up inside each hole to get all of the dirt out. Hood luck and let us know what you find.
  20. Rick the dirty connector I found was in the engine compartment area. I THINK this is where the wires from the engine and trans comes together and sents info to the front of the MH. If you can find the connection you can plug the scan d there and see what info you can get there.
  21. I installed one on my 2001 HR Ambassador and had the same problem. I found the 9 pin connection in the engine bay was full of dirt, grease etc. I took it apart and cleaned with contact spray and them the 6 pin at the steering works fine. I think you will find that the 6 pin will not give you are the info on the scan d. I found that the mh computer doesn't send that info out. I installed a separate trans temp and fuel pressure gauges and probles to get that info. Couldn't get in on scan d. Hope this helps.
  22. I've been using a 375 watt inverter for the tv, a small fan and a few other small items but never at the same time. The wires connecting the 375 inverter to the power outlet were larger then the wires coming to the power outlet from the fuse panel so I was concerned about putting too much draw on it. My coach had 2- 210 ah batteries in it but they were 5 years old. I decided to replace them and add 2 more 210 ah batteries for a total of 4 and that's the reason I am wanting to place an inverter in the coach. The computer my wife uses takes 360 watts to run so I wanted to be able to plug in the tv {45 watts] and the mobile internet at the same time. This would total maybe 500 watts. Our small coffee maker does use 1400 watts, so I would like to use it in the morning without starting the generator. We don't boondock a lot but we do have 2 places that don't allow generators from 10-6 and10-8 am. That's why I added the 2 extra batteries for having more power longer. My wife still does a little work while we are on the road and once I had to run the generator coming home just to power the computer. Its not that the generator cost that much to use just tying to find a better way. I don't plan on powering the refrigerator from the invertor, use propane while on the road. If I mount the inverter in the baggage compartment I could run an extension cord to the frig if need be. Looks like it might be safer to mount it in the bay beside the batteries and run 6 wires forward and mount 2 receptacles in the front of the coach. I don't want to install anything that's unsafe. Thanks
  23. I'm wanting to install a 1500 watt inverter in my 2001 Holiday Rambler mh. Currently there's no place to power my tv, laptop or anything else with 120 volts without running the generator or shore power. I know the instructions say the inverter needs to be installed as close to the batteries as possible, but I have a question. If I install the inverter close to my batteries I will need to run wires about 35 feet to the front and through the front wall of the mh to mount a plug in receptacle. There is currently a 2/X wire from the cabin batteries to a lug in the front bay under the drivers seat that supplies power to the front of the coach. This wire is protected with an inline 130 amp fuses. Would it be safe to connect the wire running to the inverter from the lug in the front bay to the inverter? I could mount the inverter in the driver cockpit area with 5 ft of wire and plug directly into the inverter. I would use all necessary inline fuses from the front lug to the inverter. Not trying to make an unsafe situation, just wondering if this would be an option.
  24. Thanks everyone for the input. Went ahead and replaced the 2 old batteries , starting with 4 new Trojan 6 volt 210ah batteries.
  25. My 2001 Holiday Rambler Ambassador came with 2 6 volt cabin batteries and now I'm adding 2 more 6 volt batteries for a total of 4. I'm adding a 1500 watt inverter also. Should I wire the new batteries together or mix a new one with a old one? The 2 old batteries aren't that old and are working great so not going to replace them. Thanks for the input.
