Looked for a previous discussion, no luck. In August, 2020, my right rear jack wouldn't stay down. My knee jerk reaction was the jack was leaking, needed rebuilt. Last fall the jack failed again. Now I realize that there is no up and down on the jack itself, it's all controlled by the solenoids. Searching how the jacks work, I realized that maybe the solenoid that controls the lifting or lowering of the jack may be bad. If that solenoid is always open, there wouldn't be any lifting. There is no sign of leakage on the outside. It worked for 3 1/2 years. Any suggestions? I just bought a quart of ACDelco automatic transmission fluid Type III (H) on Amazon. On the front of the slide between the window and the outer flange, there's that black cover piece. I believe that controls the slide movement. There should be one on the end wall. There is something that controls the slide movement. I'm sure someone will explain it. My neighbor had a problem with his. I never got involved because my slides don't have it. Gary 05 AMB DST

Have they totally pulled away and the spring section of the topper, on the slide out, had a free wheeling spin? It's important to lock down the spring loaded roll so the spring doesn't unwind. Gary 05 AMB DST

Andrew P, your Sailrite cording is a hollow pipe. When I replaced my toppers, Stone Vos sent a solid "rod" with the toppers. That is what Monaco used from the factory. Gary 05 AMB DST

The white plastic is probably UHMW. My 05 Ambassador has a beveled slide lift the whole length of the slide on the floor and the slide has a beveled edge the whole length, the bottom of the slide is all UHMW. Very expensive. With my self-made plates, the center of the slide barely touches the beveled cam. On the later models, Monaco probably realized they didn't need so much UHMW and just put it on the ends of the slide. I had the same problem. What I did was with 1/4" ss washers, nuts and bolts. Put a 1 1/2" bolt and washer from the back of the hole and a washer and nut on the outside of the hole and used a wing nut to hold the license plate on. Gary 05 AMB DST

Jeff, the two things that I came to appreciate about my 05 Ambassador after I bought it new was, no DEF which I think started in 08, and no multiplex. Two areas that I had no knowledge of. Grew up in the 60's when they only used wire to communicate and gas to travel. I am seriously considering a 60's/70's car to tow. No computer, no electric steering, no multiplex electronics. just points, plugs and light bulbs. Gary 05 AMB DST

Ed, remember the 05 Ambassador is the same platform as the 04-08(?) Endeavor. The Endeavor just had more items than the lower grade Ambassador. Its wiring would be the same. Gary 05 AMB DST

Check the poly spacers that stabilize the jacks. Don't remember where they were, but they are somewhere on the jack. I know cause I changed mine when I was repairing the jacks. How's that for a vote of confidence? Gary 05 AMB DST
