  1. I have found and repaired 35 air leaks on my 08 Dynasty. After getting her all sealed up we made two trips for about 1500 miles and an airbag has started leaking. It leaks out completely within an 30 minutes. There are a few holes in the side of the bag where the rubber has rotted and dried out. I am now replacing all the bags with new Firestone bags. My point is you could have many small leaks or one big one. The best thing to do is stack about 5 each 2x12 boards screwed together to make some ramps. You need at least 4 ramps and drive that coach up on them. Get a cold beverage and a spray bottle of soapy water and start check any and all connections. That way when you find the leak/problem you can find an appropriate shop and explain to them in general what and where the problem is. I don't know about everyone else but I am not up for paying some dude $150 - $200 an hour to lay on their back and spray water just to say "yep you have a leak".
  2. One more vote for Toyo M144. When we bought our 2008 Dynasty all the tires were "New". still had the knobs on them. Only problem is they were put on the coach in 2018. Date code on the tires were 2017. The previous owner parked the coach for 2 1/2 years and never moved it. Flat spotted the brand new tires and they were a total loss. Inner walls were separating. I replaced all 8 tires with Toyo's and wheel balancers. All good now.
  3. Amazing timing on this post. I have been researching airbags all day. I have a hole in the driver's side drive axle front bag. That sucker will be tough to get out of there. It looks like the Contitech have about an inch more travel overall on inflated and deflated size. Those of us with air leveling only, may need that extra travel with the Contitech. Unfortunately those are not available here in Vegas. Must be shipped in and will not arrive until next week. We are hitting the road on Thursday so I am going Firestone. My trusty super mechanic prefers the Firestone as that what he puts on all the heavy haul trucks. They are more money but good is never cheap and cheap is never good. At least that is what my Dad always said.
  4. Mike, I am going to replace all my airbags on my 2008 Dynasty. Did you happen to save the airbag part number you used???
  5. I do leave the system on after leveling. The aux compressor comes on for about 5 seconds then goes off. It comes on every 4 or 5 hours for a few seconds. the other 3 corners stay up. I am going to plumb in a pressure gauge on the little leveling tank. The left rear does not lose pressure until the leveling system is activated.
  6. Did you get a "seal kit" from Valid directly? Did you do the work and how was the task or have it done? On our last trip to Utah Bryce Canyon over the 4th the left rear bags would lose air within an hour. The weird part is the compressor would not kick on and the air pressure in the tanks would not drop. I totally agree that using what is already built onto the chassis to level is a great idea. On my other coaches with jacks I never lifted the coach off the ground to level. If things were that far off I would drive the coach on blocks to get it close then level with jacks.
  7. Good morning Ivan K. I do not like the system for three reasons. #1) A small air leak can be very difficult to locate where as a hydraulic leak will show easy with leaking fluid leaving evidence of a leak. #2) The coach is not as stable as hydraulic jacks. We have two 190 lbs. Great Dane/Mastiff mix dogs. When they move around at night (or anytime actually) in the coach you can feel the coach moving. #3) I do not care for the auxiliary small air compressor coming on the middle of the night. The coach is a 2008 Dynasty that had 26,000 miles on it when we bought it 1 1/2 years ago. It sat too long without much use. That is hard on any machine. Things dry out and seals leak. I have repaired/fixed 28 air leaks to date. Monaco built a beautiful coach and pretty well made but to use the cheap quick connect fittings was a mistake. I am replacing every fitting/connection with brass DOT approved compression fittings. I will most likely be preplacing every airbag as well. I like the simplicity of the idea of using a system already on the coach to level it. In theory it is great, in reality not so much. We very rarely stay in RV parks. We boondock 95% of the time so the ground is seldom flat or level. I wish the coach had both air and hydraulic jack leveling system. I am not sure it is worth the money to add hydraulic jacks at this time with the economic crash on the horizon.
  8. I have made ramps from 2x8 boards stacked on top of each other and screwed together. I have 4 of them so I can run the rear duals and tag axle up on the the ramps. That way I will never get squished by an air system failure. I have the air leveling system ( which I hate and would never buy again) and no hydraulic leveling jacks. During the numerous air system repairs with the coach on the ramps, I can completely drain the air bags and still move freely under the coach on a creeper. Oil changes and chassis lube are very easy to perform with the coach on ramps as the frame and rear axles are high enough to get under.
  9. Paul Whittle did you develop your computer backup system for the Intellitec system???
  10. Is Paul doing back up now for the Intellitec. Last time I spoke with him he was working on it.
  11. I have had the same experience with them. REV Group is useless and a complete waste of time.
  12. My 2008 Dynasty has the transfer switch in the second bay back on the drivers side of the bay mounted to the front wall.
  13. Ok no big deal, find another insurance company and don't mention anything about any heater. Read the policy and see if space heaters are an issue. What really caught my attention in the original post was the word "finked". I have not heard that since elementary school which was about 55 years ago. Thank you for the flashbacks and a quick trip down memory lane.
  14. Hello Richard. Hope you are well. Did you get a new coach? I did an initial check on the cord. I had power in the receptacle on the side of my shop. I had power in the cord, power in the 50 amp shore power cord. I took the cover off of the transfer switch and had 110 volts in the box. I could manually activate the shore power switch by hand and energize the coach if I held in the switch button. All connection and hardware looked good. No heat damage, no corrosion, no sign of equipment failure. So I went back to the beginning and started over. When I unplugged the heavy duty extension cord from the wall the ground prong looked a little long. When I pulled on it the darn thing came out of the molded rubber cord plug. Learn something new every day.
  15. I found a really well written and clear trouble shooting flow chart online. Turns out the ground terminal on the power cord I was using has broken inside the plug. Open ground issue. The plug looks good and does carry power but the ground side is apparently bad. So instead of spending $800 on something that was not broken to spending $8 on two new plug ends equals a good day. Research and process of elimination goes a long way. Thanks to anyone who chimed in on this. Have a great day all.
  16. Where you able to actually talk to anyone at Southwire?? Called them today and all you get is a recording directing everyone to their website and fill in all your personal info to try and get an answer as to which transfer switch is a direct replacement for a Surge Guard 40250?? Do they really need my address to point me to the correct product??????
  17. I have bought and sold many trailers. In today's market your trailer is most likely worth what you paid for it new.
  18. The movie Poltergeist may hold all you need to know. It really is the only logical reason that could possible happen.
  19. Same here. We have been all over the west since we live out west. When we went back east to MN and WI we bonsai it to get where we want to be. 550 - 650 miles per day is normal. I set the cruise control at 68 mph and let it roll. I did a trip to Georgia and back in 7 days this summer. 4,600 miles in 7 days was a bit much.
  20. Congratulations and I truly hope you have many great memories and trouble free miles in your new coach. That is a good looking machine.. The awning on my Dynasty is 110 volts drive motor. We figured it was broke when I bought it because it did not work. We finally figured out that either be plugged in or inverter on for it to work.
  21. Richard is right on the money with the Surge Guard plug. The GFI will trip on the receptacle the the device is plugged into. At least mine does. I made my plug up for about $6 from supplies at Home Depot. A question for Dr4Film, how is the rest of the potential new coach and will you be the new proud owner????
  22. I don't want to get into a side discussion and highjack Dr4Film's aka Richard's original post and question. He asked a very good question and I wish I knew this before going half crazy with my backup generator not working. With regards to a non bonded ground generator, the inverter style i.e. Honda, Yamaha etc. will need a tweak. A regular Coleman or other construction site use type generator will most likely work without a jumper plug. We dry camp 95% of the time in the middle of nowhere. My wife uses electrical appliances like a kid in a candy store. I use the Honda to power the crockpot, TV, vacuum cleaner, refer, DVD player and everything else that seems to be on all day. I am the exterior operations manager. I don't get involved in interior operations. It is safer and more peaceful that way.
  23. Our coaches are not a bonded ground system. I found this out when I tried to power my 2008 Dynasty coach with a Honda EU 7000 inverter generator. No power to the coach from the generator. Plug the same cord from the coach into the house power and everything works. The Honda is not a bonded ground like the shore power. I believe your possible new coach is wired correctly. I had to "trick" the generator with a plug wired with a jumper from neutral to the ground and have it plugged in to a outlet on the generator.
