  1. Dometic gave no other option other than to say the new Penguin II was only compatible with the 10 button thermostat. Below is MicroAirs initial response: "When you have our 357 thermostat and switch AC units requiring the 350, you are in luck. We can reflash the 357 to make it work for your new needs." Then when I asked for clarification, I got this response from someone else there: "Just replace the board in the new AC unit with your old board. No other changes are needed. The replacement is only for people replacing both with new control boards." So that leaves me more confused than when I started!
  2. The rear Penguin on our 2004 Windsor no longer functions on heat or a/c, I think it's the reversing valve itself. I'd like to replace it with the Penguin II. We still have the original Penguin in the front of the coach and are using a Micro Air 357 thermostat. (FYI gas furnace, only two zones) Micro Air says I need to put the old control board in the new a/c and nothing further should be required. They said I only need to send them the thermostat to be reflashed if I was replacing both front and rear units with the new style. Is that information correct? If I am reading the other threads on the this topic correctly, I'll want to hold onto the new controller that I swap out because when I replace the front a/c unit then I will want to put that new controller back in and have the Micro Air 357 reflashed? Just want to make sure I'm correct on that thinking!? Obviously it would be ideal just to replace both units at the same time but that's not in the cards right now. Thanks!
  3. Can vouch for Scott. I've known him for years and he does great work. He recently made a cabinet door for my 2004 Windsor when I did the TV delete and it's a fantastic match, right down to aging the wood in the sunlight. They also have a full upholstery shop there.
  4. I was able to get my color codes from REV group just a couple weeks ago and take it to a local supplier and had paint mixed.
  5. I haven't been able to find paint codes anywhere on my Windsor in Twilight . I really need some touch up paint and I'm hoping someone has paint codes for these colors they could share. I know I could take a panel into a paint shop but just haven't had the time. Thanks!
  6. What do you mean FMCA roadside assistance was closed? They close? What the hell good is emergency roadside assistance if they close???
  7. Had a scary occurrence yesterday with our 04 Windsor. Running on a flat road about 15 miles into our trip. Smelled hot brakes, pulled over and could feel front left wheel was fairly warm. Drove another two miles without touching the brake to get to a safe spot. Pulled over and left front brake is smoking and bursts into small flames. I was able to put it out quickly and spent the next 8 hours waiting for a tow truck to tow us 16 miles to the shop. This will be expensive but it could have been much, much worse! Interested to know more about those Meritor helper springs?
  8. Just changed taillights on my 04 Windsor this weekend. https://www.ebay.com/itm/133645266611
  9. Has the compressor been replaced? I spent many years working on RV chassis and the a/c compressor is a common source of leaks and a tough one to spot. I think when under pressure or vacuum the shaft seal may hold but then leaks out as the compressor cycles. If the bearings are worn you will get compressor vibration which could lead to leaking. I'd zero in on that compressor.
  10. This happened on our 2004 Windsor, I also noticed an occasional, random beeping noise. I unplugged the exterior keypad and all the issues stopped. Still works with the fob.
  11. Thanks. I think I will just leave the keypad unplugged as long as the remotes will still function.
  12. For months I've been hearing a couple soft beeps in our coach. The other day I was standing in the step well and heard the beeps coming from the keypad area. When I pushed the keypad buttons it's the same beep. Our keypad has never worked although the key fobs work fine. Wondering if this has had anything to do with the couple of phantom lockouts we've experienced? Has anyone had this happen to them and should I just unplug the keypad? I don't want to lose the use of the key fobs. Thanks!
  13. So by that theory you can never use a floor jack to lift your coach? The levelers are providing the fixed contact to the ground, same as a jack stand would do.
