Replacement motor for door awning
MurrayD replied to Wilwag's topic in Body, Awning, Roof, Slides, & Steps
I replaced mine back in 2018, it looks the same as yours. Ordered on Amazon, Carefree R001189 over the door awning motor. -
Remove the tile as I suggested and clean up underneath. Then temporarily glue the same piece back in.
-
I would remove the 1/4 round trim at the bottom of the cabinet and then cut/break the tile off. This will allow you to see underneath and determine if water has damaged the subfloor. If not, cut a piece to match, install and replace 1/4 round to cover the joint.

Replacing 120V receptacle's
MurrayD replied to rustykramermetalfab's topic in Audio, Video, & Electronics
I installed 2 Leviton brand USB receptacles and they’re operating fine. We have our phones and iPads plugged in daily. -
There are 2 breakers on the Magnum, microwave and bathroom/kitchen, have you checked them, they are push to reset breakers?

Lost power in kitchen? AC? Need help.
MurrayD replied to 4rickyg's topic in General Motorhome Discussion
Did you check the pop out breakers on the inverter? Also check the GFI receptacle in the bathroom. -
Bob, I have 2 of those lights I’d be willing to part with if you’re interested. I removed the head banger TV cabinet.

gfci 2008 Diplomat. Replaced GFCI and STILL NO POWER? Ideas?
MurrayD replied to fredelkamp's topic in Electrical Systems
At the risk of beating a dead horse here, the green indicator light on with NO power at the receptacle indicates line load reversal, according to the Leviton patented smart technology. If wired correctly green light indicates power available. Is it possible you have the wrong neutral on the line terminal? -
gfci 2008 Diplomat. Replaced GFCI and STILL NO POWER? Ideas?
MurrayD replied to fredelkamp's topic in Electrical Systems
It sounds like you’ve mixed up the Line and Load wires. -
Ron, there is a small notch on the side of the taillight, this is where you insert something and pry the light out. Be careful not to scratch the paint. The entire assembly will pop out and you can access the bulbs.
-
Bill, you stated several outlets in the bedroom go dead when the gfci outlet trips. This indicates those receptacles are on the load side of the gfci plug. There is no need for those receptacles to be gfci protected. I would simply move the wires that feed those receptacles to the line side of the gfci receptacle, you’ll see the screws in the gfci marked line & load. Anything on the load side will be gfci protected while anything connected to the line side will be protected by the breaker feeding the circuit, which is not sensitive to minor current loss to ground.

Slide topper measurement
MurrayD replied to top flight's topic in Body, Awning, Roof, Slides, & Steps
I just recently replaced my slide topper awnings and the rep told me 47” was the standard depth, which is exactly what the existing ones were when I removed them. -
Sorry Tom I didn’t finish my explanation. What I described with the power steering fluid is how all other vehicles work. What Jeep did was trying to do this electronically, there is no power steering fluid in our Jeeps to force the wheels straight, that’s why power is required from your fuse in your 2011.
-
Tom I also have a 2016 Grand Cherokee, the steering wobble happens to me once or twice a year. I contacted Jeep in 2019 and they said they were aware of the issue and working on a fix but I’ve heard nothing since. When I make a 90 degree turn I go a little slower, I’ve found that accelerating through the turn will make it occur. Sometimes hitting a bump or a driveway will also do it. What’s happening is the wheels don’t return to straight because there’s to much side pressure during the turn. The system Jeep is using requires power to force the steering fluid to go from chamber to chamber in the pump, but when towing all power is off and the fluid is left to balance itself between the chambers. If there is force against the wheel the fluid is unable to balance itself so the wheels don’t straighten out. The fuse installed on your 2011 provided power to the steering pump to alleviate this issue.

Les, first check for power at the trailer plug by turning on the lights. If you have power on one of the pins to ground then trace the ground wire to the frame and remove and clean it thoroughly. The ground wire is almost always the failure point on trailer wiring. Likewise for the running lights.

Correct way to extend slides Cheetah 2004
MurrayD replied to Les Hurdle's topic in Body, Awning, Roof, Slides, & Steps
Les, you will get many opinions on the proper procedure for extending slides. My method is dump air to lower coach so step is not too high, deploy jacks, then extend slides. A level coach will provide the best situation for extending slides. A second note regarding your post, never lift the tires off the ground with the jacks. If the surface is uneven your coach will put too much side force on the extended jack causing it to retract askew. This will damage the guides inside the jack, thus requiring replacing it. I speak from experience as this is exactly what I did my first year of ownership. Dumping air before deploying jacks will usually allow the coach to level without lifting tires. An alternative would be driving onto blocks on the low side before levelling. -
Have you looked into the Monaco Watts Linkage? They custom make front and rear sway bar kits. I just installed a front kit on my unit but I haven’t driven it yet so I can’t comment on any improvement.

Air filter vacuum gauge
MurrayD replied to Steve P's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
Jeff How do you change the filter without opening the canister? Of course they recommended not to blow dirt out of the filter, they want you to pay them to replace it. -
Air filter vacuum gauge
MurrayD replied to Steve P's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
The gauge is measuring how much the air flow through the air filter is being restricted. As the filter gets clogged the indicator shows a higher number. If you take your air filter out and blow it out with an air compressor, then reset the gauge by pressing in the rubber end, you’ll see the next trip the gauge won’t go as high because you’ve removed some of the restriction. DO NOT blow air into the air filter box, you will be blowing dirt into the intake of the engine. Instead use a damp rag to wipe out the filter box before inserting the filter. Higher air restriction to the engine leads to higher diesel consumption, so keeping a clean air filter will save you money. -
The air intake goes directly into the air filter box thats visible in your picture, to the right of the power cord.
