pwhittle
I installed my BOYO VTK230HD cameras this weekend. A few notes: - I made a fitting from aluminum on my my mini lathe. - Main outer diameter was 0.98” to fit in where the old camera was mounted. Overall length was 0.9” - I left a flange of just under 1.25” diameter that was .200” thick - Through hole was large enough for the M8 thread on the mounting stud. - I bored the center to .625” to a depth of .7” to accommodate an M8 coupling nut. - I drilled out most of the threads on the M8 coupling nut so it was easier to pass the connector through it. - The coupling nut was used so that I would not need to bore the adapter out to accommodate a socket. - Wiring was pretty simple. I cut the blue loop so there were no parking lines. - I cut the connector and wire from the old camera with as much wire as possible. It is only about 4” long. - I used an RCA to screw terminals so it was a solderless installation. (WGCD 20 PCS Phono RCA Male Plug to AV Screw Terminal Plug Connector Audio Video Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XKWFQQF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_S2MIEbRQXQKS3) - The wires on the old camera connector are: Red 12V, Black GND, Clear, Video signal. The white and green are not used. The shield on the clear video is just trimmed off. - I pulled most of the new wiring into the mirror arm after taping it to keep it all together to make it easier to get the new wiring in, - Picture is color and seems to be good in my driveway. Much better the old B&W picture. - I have not driven it yet, but will report when I do Edited April 5, 2020 by pwhittle
Chargerman
Looks good and the picture looks better than the old cameras for sure. Looking forward to working on mine on a few weeks although it looks like we won’t be going out for a bit.
Chargerman
We are back north at the coach and starting on my Spring to-do list. Assembled and installed the mirrors with the replayed arms I had done and the marker light in place of the head banging ugly brick cameras. Then I installed the new cameras and wired everything up. Cameras are super small. My only wish would be to be able to paint them. I had to take a peak inside the old camera just to see the size of the actual camera components. After seeing them it’s pretty easy to see that the manufacturer could have made the house much smaller and sleeker. If anyone needs a brick camera let me know I and I will send it over. Chargerman
Here you go. Doesn’t look as clear as it does outside. Coach is still in the garage and lights were not all the way warmed up when I took the pics.
Chargerman
All of the lines in the first pic are not from the camera. I will post better pics when I get the Coach outside.
Steven P
Still looks good. Just to check, you did not already have cameras in those locations, correct? If you did, how was the paint underneath?
Chargerman
Correct. There were not cameras where I now have them. They were in the mirrors. I kinda wish I had purchased the more expensive cameras that Tadi sells. Not because of the picture quality but for the better housing. These housings are rubber and not paintable. Still ok though since they are so small. Edited May 13, 2020 by Chargerman
