Hi... we are in Naples.  We have a house here and come down from Michigan and put the RV in storage...  so just too much to close up the house, get the RV operating and make such a trip mid season.  We leave here in Mid April and go to Disney World for 5 to 10 days with resident passes (easy to get with our electric bill).   Timing just not right for us. Money and topics not our issue.  We would attend just to be with you all but for the above.....  we do miss Bill D.

I've created a poll to get some feedback on the Gathering.  Please respond, and feel free to add comments by responding to this message.

I didn't attend because of health reasons.  If you consider other locations, consider Memphis, TN or that Casino in Mississippi that was previously used.

We also live in So Cal.   Too far.  It would be interesting to see another poll to create statistics on where the general membership lives.  I suspect the vast majority live on the East Coast, but  that's just my gut feeling.

I have been a member since Bill D. stared the group many years ago. After a couple of years of doing the rally at Lazy Days it was discussed trying new location. There was a real nice RV resort at an Indian Casino in Arkansas or Louisiana I can't remember which.  Well considering we have a large number of members in Florida that didn't want to travel anywhere else the rally location has remained in Florida. When Bill D. was still alive we talked about making a trip back but never did. It is just too far to travel from Palm Springs to a three day event in Florida.

We attended, our first time and it was very informative.  We came from north of Spokane, WA.  This time of year we had to go the southern route, down I-5 to I-10.  About 5,000 miles one way.  We will not have the time to go every year to Seffner.  Too far, too much fuel.  Sure had a good time and learned a lot.

I have been with this group since the beginning.  I have attended previous gatherings and enjoyed them.  However, I find the topics are kinda repetitive;  I may be the only one who feels that way.  With that said, I did not attend this year's gathering because of other commitments.  Will probably make it next year just for the fun of it.

I had planned on attending this year, but after unexpected expenses and a 6,000 mile trip last fall we decided to not do Florida this year. I don’t have a problem with the location, in fact I have friends in Naples, Florida and several other events  which I would go to if I make it over.  So, I would be in favor of staying there since many members are there. Sorry I missed y’all.

One thing I really enjoy is seeing other people’s coaches. There are good ideas in each one I have looked at.

I vote for an optional Open House where those that want to participate allow others to see their coaches and share their upgrades/updates.

Walt,  I am in a state of shock. How long has it been ?  I hope everything is going well with you. Remember our Sunday night chats.  What was the name of the RV Resort in Louisiana  that was discussed ?  I think it was north of Shreveport ?  It was owned by an Indian band.

I agree that it is time to choose a different location. One that is more central in the USA.

how about Kerrville Texas? A great place to stay.

maybe I am in the minority but the discount really means little to nothing for me. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice but it doesn’t sell me on whether or not to go. Consider the cost of fuel overnights costs to get there I would go no matter if I received a discount or not at the destination.  We need to add some fresh new topics along with some/few  “old” ones too.

its time for a change all around,  Location, topics, and maybe more members would attend.

I think you guys are shortchanging us on the west coast.

For me it’s not the distance it’s doing the same ole same ole. I mean no disrespect to our owners etc etc. but I am always looking for a new place to go to.
MY first wife and I say (when RVing) “been there done that”.

i belong to a local EV club. Many want to go back each year to the same old places that we have been going to for many years.
boring.

i have only attended one “gathering”.  But have been in nearby states when the gathering has been held in years after.

In my line of business The yearly gathering was  held  1 yr on the west coast the next year on the east coast.  Maybe repeating the same location in five or more years but never the same place year after year.

there should be more that the agenda to entice members to come and get together.

How about Palm Springs, CA or like  I said Kerrville Texas, .  ‘Ya know there is more to the US than Florida.... (just kidding....well sorta kinda).

topics to add suggestions.
1. how to sell your Monaco/get It ready  To sell what sell MH is it price and condition?

2. how to buy  (wheel and deal) a new or newer  rig . Told  by a sales person.
3. Do we really need a big diesel (what ever big means to you) . In comparison to a smaller one that has all the bells and whistles.

4. The future of  RVing as it relates to traveling without reservations

5. does joining  a travel group really give you more for your money... bring in reps from a RV travel Company to sell us on joining a 7 day 15 day or 30 day group traveling to wherever.

Just my thoughts.

places to go for our next gathering.

Or how about Las Vegas, Nevada.

Now there’s a fun place to go for a few days!

Yes  John  and  Bill Fauber a  RoDger made all the arrangements it was Coushatta Casino  just north east of Lake Charles ( Fauber is not doing well now)  it was just before the Frog Rally at Raine la put on by Monaco. Rodger put a get together the next year at the Paragon Casino  in  Marksville La about south east of Alexandra La. Both of these have a large RV park  also Hollywood Casino in  Bay St Luis MS has a largeRV park.

John i have been staying busy gardening and paying with my Tractors and going to the Auto Auction  on Thursdays  at my advance age we dont use the Coach a lot but i keep it serviced  and ready to go if needed. It was so good to here from you John  and i hope you are doing well.

If I was to make a change of location I would consider the Sevierville / Pigeon Forge, Tn. area.  But where ever the location you must keep in mind that you will have to entice any representatives and presenters to travel there also and in order to do that you might have to start reimbursing them for their expenses.  Whenever we go to that area we always visit in the fall because of the milder weather.

There's a TON of work and continuous coordination involved in setting something up like the 'Gathering' and having to do it over a very long distance makes it even more difficult.  I believe Dave has been responsible for single handedly setting up The Gathering at Lazydays (Negotiating for a group site reservations,  getting the different representatives to show up for presentations,  scheduling a conference room along with media equipment,  coordinating meals and menus etc .etc.) and they are just 150 miles away.  My hat is off to him for all the effort he puts forth in pulling it off every year. Just trying to schedule something, especially in Florida during the winter months, so as not to conflict with all of the other events and activities going on around the country is a feat in itself.  As you can imagine there is a LOT of homework that has to be done other then just picking a nice campground somewhere.  In making suggestions it would be very beneficial to do some of this homework in advance otherwise you'll just be making more work for Dave, and ?, as then they'll be having to research EVERY suggested location presented and that will be another big burden placed on them.  Just food for thought is all.

We had planned to attend this year but the IRS changed our schedule. Still going to Florida but not till May to see Chris and Ingrid T for upgrades. But it would be great if it could be held mid US.
