Has anyone repaired this after cutting the size of the headbanger down for a flat screen tv  I cut 3 1/2 inch’s off the front and 5 inch’s off the bottom.

I've seen where people just add a piece of wood to cover the old footprint.  Do you have any of the wood that you cut off that you could glue together and finish the edges.  This would at least match your current wood work.

I thought about that, but the flat screen tv I installed sets right up against the ceiling and swings out to make it easier to see it.

Thin plywood (or similar) sheet upholstered in similar vinyl and attached with the usual screw covers. It will be hard to make it invisible, might as well make it bold as if it was a design intent. I was in similar situation and decided to only shorten the bottom for that reason because that area wasn't covered at all.
