Coach J Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 (edited) I know the connectors are reversed so to speak. When changing out the ends can someone clarify what I need to do as far as ensuring that I change these ends correctly? I have searched for a video but no luck. I am making an assumption that if I am careful when changing them and install the new connector in the same direction too As the old oneI should be correct. Just looking for clarification 2007 diplomat 40SKQ Edited January 8, 2023 by Coach J

Just looking for clarification 2007 diplomat 40SKQ Can you elaborate on what application and use case that you want to utilize the RJ11 connectors for? It sounds like HVAC, so if that is the case, you will also need to specify the brand and model of your rooftop air conditioners. Also, what is your basis of condition that would require reversing the RJ11 wiring? Edited January 8, 2023 by CAT Stephen

Yes communication cables for duo therm Tstat
CAT Stephen Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Bobby, Yes, Verify the orientation as you cut off the existing connections. Here is the Dometic RJ11 Pinout for your reference: - https://images.app.goo.gl/rTous275UkrMFBHY7 You will need to purchase the following items to change the ends: - RJ11 Male Connectors - RJ11 Crimper Here is a kit containing both items on Amazon: RJ45 Crimping Tool Kit Ethernet Crimp Set, RJ-11, 6P/RJ-12, 8P/RJ-45 Crimp, Cut and Strip with 20PCS CAT5 CAT5e Connectors, Covers,1 Network Cable Tester 1 Wire Stripper
On_the_road Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 That kit does not come with any RJ11 connectors, only RJ45.
bobdinsmore Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 When you snip off the old connector you can see the order of the wires in the old connector by their colors. Just use the same orientation for the new connector. The retaining tab is the fixed reference. You can use standard telephone connectors and crimper.

IF the System was working before and has cabling issues and new connectors (the Dual Inline) do NOT fix it, then you need to buy an RJ-11 Crimper. BUT, that is such OLD technology and all the kits on Amazon are RJ45, but WILL WORK ON RJ11. AGAIN....if it worked ONCE.....then KISS. Get an RJ11/RJ45 Tool. Get RJ-11 MALE ends. GET NEW DUAL INLINE RJ-11 (Female to Female) connectors. Many folks have resolved the communications problems by just replacing them. I carry spares. NOW, if ONE (or more) of the cable ends is damaged, then take a picture and also make a schematic. You need to use the SAME COLOR CODING as Monaco did. YES, there have been a lot of chatter about twisted pairs and data cables and such. TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, Monaco used plain old telephone lines. SO.....replace the connectors. Reset the Thermostat. STILL NO JOY... Start replacing each connector and make sure that you follow the color code or the sequence. That is KISS....and works....
jacwjames Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 I finally had to buy a crimper tool when I installed my Victron battery monitor, the cable they supplied was not long enough so easier to just make a new one. I confirmed the wiring color code and followed the directions to crimp on a new end. Not hard, but from my experience you need to take the time to straighten and align the wires in the correct order, once you've done that the installation of the new end is pretty simple. I didn't want to wait and order a new tool, I just went to Lowes and bought one along with the correct ends.
