Camera Select Switch

In 2019, While traveling, I had the original monitor screen replaced with an Alpine iLX-F259 audio / video system which I also included a new replacement backup camera. Historically, all systems worked OK.  With this new system, I could continue using what I assume is the original, round Camera Select switch; it would select individual views from each of the four  cameras.   Plus, Automatic Rear view in reverse, left and right turn signal views and also, a coach interior view via the selector switch.

Recently, the picture quality has diminished but more specifically, even though I push the dash mounted Camera Select button, yes the "screen captions" will change from the "Passenger" to "Driver" side but, the  picture stays the same.  Currently, when pushing the Camera Select button, it seldom provides the Rear view and never the Interior camera view.

Drats! I need all my camera views back?

As noted in the photo, at the rear of the Camera Selector switch, it only has two, tiny gauge individual Black and Red wires attached.  My 1st Questions:

1.  If I need a replacement. Does anybody recognize this existing Camera-Switch as being OEM?

2. With only two tiny wires entering the back of this small round switch, how could it switch to the four different cameras?  Would the actual changing of the camera views be taking place elsewhere?

3. Inside the dash, I see this box labeled Trip-Tek  What is it?  Interesting, the TripTek box has a Monitor label however, the yellow RCA wire connected under the Camera label, that wire soon disappears inside of a heat shrunk bundle. Could this TripTek box be the source of my problem?

Any help getting my switchable four camera views back will be appreciated.

Thanks

It looks like Trip Tek is out of business.  You could try Googling and see what that gets you.

The button probably just interrupts the signal going to the box and then it switches to the next camera in line.  I would unplug the connectors and reseat them.  The yellow RCA cable is going to your display.  You could try unplugging that and running another RCA cable to another monitor and see what happens l. You might be able to just use a TV with a video input.

Good luck.

IN ALL FAIRNESS to MONACO.  They had to do some "CREATIVE" things way back when.  There were reset buttons and selector buttons and such.  This is NOT the first time for a "mystery" button...at LEAST your's is LABELED.

If you GOOGLE "RV Remote Camera Switching Device", one of the top hits (under $100) is this.

Later on...and I only speak for my Camelot....which has the DEFENDER system and not the normal one....  Monaco was in a parts BIND...non payment...  I have a MONITOR that has THREE inputs...  LEFT. RIGHT. REAR....as well as an AUX input.  So, my cameras are switched from the controls. on the MONITOR panel  It APPEARS that Monaco put in a REMOTE monitor and purchased the Camera switcher as a SEPARATE device and then added in the Toggle Button.

You can PROBABLY order one similar to this.  You will have to make up some custom plugs....but the Camera's are MOST the old COMPOSITE video (Yellow RCA Plugs)...  I THINK that will work.  YOU MAY have a Coaxial GROUND...that you attach to cut back on interference.  Crutchfield has GREAT tech support.  I would wager this might work.

IF NOT, there are other vendors.  SO, if it DOESN'T WORK....then there should be a replacement... OR you order a HEAD (Video Monitor) with controls and replace the monitor and it will have the multiple INPUTS and be line mine.  The DEFENDER, I HOPE, is still being made. It is used on OTR rigs and such...and it works.  I was told, face to face, when I had a camera issue, that the CAMERA's all had a SIMILAR signal.  NOW this was the mid 2000's TECHNOLOGY.... NOT high res...but there are a LOT of rigs and cameras out there of this technology and vintage...so I think you'll find an answer.

Keep us posted.

Hope this helps.

We have a pair of similar camera select switches, one of which I just replaced because one of the leads snapped off at the pushbutton.  These are momentary switches which are readily available on Amazon and elsewhere.  These are cheap enough that if you throw the parts cannon at the problem they won't break the bank.

Thanks Tom & Bruce.

I now believe the issue is likely within the TripTek board.

The local Car Stereo guy doesn't repair boards but, with a new momentary switch and re-routing the Yellow RCA, we have a consistently good but singular and  most important rear camera view.  I can live with that until I have time to further investigate the possibility of a TripTek board repair Co..

As always,  I appreciate this knowledge bank!
