Bruce Hull
Can someone help me? One lock broken! Have no idea how to remove it? And see if I can just repair it? Think it a broken cable?
jacwjames
This is a Dewald slide lock, it is obsolete so be gently, Attached is a drawing of it. I believe Lippert does still sell the internal springs but the rest of the parts are not available. At the top of the lock is one small screw, remove it. Then take a piece of wood and hammer and tap it up to loosen it from the bottom. It uses a keyhole/pin type sliding system that holds it tight to the slideout. Then on the back there are a bunch of small allen head screws that hold the black cover onto the mounting plate. Remove the screws and it will expose the rollers/cable, and spring mechanism. Some times the cable detaches from the anchor point and people have been able to resolder/braze it back into place I removed min a couple years ago to inspect, clean, and lubricate. Some people suggest that you can spray or pour oil down from the top to lubricate but from what I saw there is a slim chance that it will get to the parts that need lubricating. I think the best way is to remove, clean, and lubricate. Slide Lock Mechanism by Dewald.pdf Edited September 21 by jacwjames

vito.a
I replaced our slide out locks in 2018 (a Camping World tech had cut the bottom levers off). One of the new locks broke immediately but I was able to get another pair. Veurinks RV had them in stock back then, but I don't think they are still available. They have a black plastic cover that is held on with plastic rivets. The main slide lock assembly is attached to the coach with several screws. This link has lots of good info and pictures of the assembly. Slide-Out Lock Help - iRV2 Forums I should add that you can get by without them as long as the hydraulic system is working correctly. I drove from Savannah Georgia to AZ with the locks not working and the slides worked fine. Also, none of the other slides on these coaches have locks on them. When I decided to take mine off and clean/lubricate it I bought the replacement without looking closely and doing my due diligence . Pricey too. But when I went to remove, no rivets. Back to research and found that mine was different with only the small screw at the top holding onto the side of the slideout. So just a word of warning that you should look and confirm.

Jdw12345
So there’s 5 springs on each side of the slide?
Paul J A
They are a "latch". Need to do a little C Y A before they fail. Monaco realized that slide was a safety concern while traveling. With the slide closed, measure form the inside wall above the slide opening to the inside of the vertical flange of the slide box. Cut a couple of 2x8 or 2x10 that length. Now you can place them on top at /near each end of the slide when retracted. Takes the "W" out of worry and butt pucker😁
jacwjames
FWIW, I have a Power Gear slide system on my front LR slide. I was having some trouble moving my slide and had to bring it in manually which required me to release the brake on the motor. Got everything fixed but forgot to put the motor brake back on. Sometime later I took the coach for a short drive and by the time I got back it had slide out ~2 inches. So the slide locks don't really lock the slide in, I believe the do help pulling the top and bottom in tight to the side of the coach but that's about it.
