    We're experiencing the exact same thing, roof cracking, behind the driver & passenger seats.  Both cracks are about 12-14 inches long.

    I have not drilled a "stop holes", but that's a GREAT idea, thanks!  I'm planning on doing the following:

    1. Stop holes, both ends of each crack
    2. Roughing-up the cracked areas with 120-grit sand paper
    3. Clean the areas with mineral spirits & alcohol
    4. Apply and work-in ProFLEX sealant into the cracked areas
    5. Apply 4" Eternabond tape

     

    For the stop holes, 1/16", 1/8", other... ?

    Any other suggestions for repairing... ? 

     

    BTW - Our rig is a 2005 Beaver Marquis

    Fortunately and Ironically.... I had absolutely no idea what these things were for, nor did i know what they were even used for....  Luckily... I stuffed your Amazon link into my "RV List".  Not knowing what they were for, I'd completely forgotten about having done that and/or even seeing them, until... I found them in my RV and two of the four are stuck and I can't release the "J-part" (I'm assuming that when the time comes, I'll have to break or drill out the two stuck ones, but had no idea how to replace them

     

    Needlesstosay... I just wanted to say thank-you for taking the time to submit the Amazon URL!  🙂

    I'd like to start-off by sincerely saying "THANK-YOU" to everyone for their comments and assistance regarding this!!!

     

    FOLLOW-UP / RESOLUTION:

    Ultimately and unexpectedly..., we ended up having two completely separate air line holes (I intentionally didn't use the word "leaks"...)

    - One hole, the original problem, was pretty severe and was extremely loud.  Upon finding this hole, I was able to repair that line.  This particular hole is what was causing the compressor to constantly oscillate from ~90PSI - 120PSI.

     

    - Three-four days after experiencing the original "hole", a second hole developed near the compressor itself and luckily happened after we'd parked!!!  (the two holes were about 15-20 feet apart and were completely unrelated to one another) This particular hole wasn't nearly as loud and/or physically noticeable, however... because it was coming directly off of a compressor line, this hole prevented any air pressure from building up whatsoever...  (This hole was caused due to a flexible air line which had been vibrating & rubbing up against the starter solenoid, which... in-turn caused intermittent starting issues)

     

    FWIW - I found the hole that was coming directly off of the air compressor first.  Upon replacing the flexible tubbing, that was when I was able to hear the original hole.  

     

    When it's all said and done, the two air line holes have been repaired and/or replaced, along with the starter solenoid.

    I was close to Josam's so I stopped to get their opinion.   After we determined that the U joints were in phase, we then had to address the drop angle of the drive shaft at ride height.  That is where the problem was at.  Once that was corrected, we had smooth sailing.  

    Now that's something that's not in the manual... HUGE thank-you for sharing that golden nugget!   🙂

    HUGE, huge lol and I'd completely forgotten all about that picture...  🙂

    I used to be an avid trapper and hunter, when I was young.  But... as I've gotten older in life... I've softened and absolutely love all animals now (except for Micky and his buddies)... My "furry friend" was an orphaned racoon which I was lucky enough to have it adopt me... 🙂  Her name was (is) Gully and she absolutely loved belly "raspberries"...

    As for you having a 20-year old dog, OMG... Now that's a "seasoned" dog!  Obviously... you've both been caring for one another!

    Still chuckling over the picture... I'd completely forgotten about that!  Thanks for brightening my day!

    My blurb/introduction, I'm a computer person by trade and have been with the military (active duty, reserve and am currently serving in the Army Guard) since 1985.  My career is rapidly winding down and I'll be retiring from the Army Guard in November '21.  Additionally... I am planning on retiring from my full-time Army (technician) position about May '22.  My home of record is Wisconsin and I'm selling my house & all of it's belongings October 26th....

     

    Between my military life and my "life lessons" along the way, I've learned the importance of addressing things proactively and... the need for proper maintenance... Hence this post.

     

    My wife is a traveling hospice nurse.  So our plan is for her to take two or three gigs per year, while living out of the RV.  We're hoping to do that for a couple of years while seeing the country.  Hopefully I'll be able to learn enough from our experiences and about our coach, that I'll be able to pass along information, just like you... and on that note, HUGE THANK-YOU to you and everyone else that takes their time to help people like myself!

    I couldn't agree with you and your words of wisdom more!  I assure you that I will be following them going forward (once i feel comfortable in giving advice... we're extremely new to RVing) but as of right now... IMO - I have nothing of value to contribute... (unless its something to do with computers and/or networking)

    That being said... I've been patiently reading the daily blurbs that come out for a couple of years now, in waiting & preparing to go full-time, which we're in the process of doing right now (October '21)

    As a whole, I do sincerely appreciate ALL of the advice that has been shared in this thread and all of the others!

  9. Does anyone have a maintenance schedule, and/or "good things to do" periodically (maintenance wise)... ?
     

    As an example, I was recently at HWH having some service work done.  While there, the service technician explained to me that there are about 6-air valves (engine compartment area) that I should be releasing water from monthly.... All of which was new to me... The service technician then proceeded to show me what I should be doing and OMG.... I couldn't believe the amount of water that came out of those valves.  Shortly after that, I went through my owners manual and sure enough... the manual states that that procedure should be done monthly.


    What I'm looking for is a consolidate PDF or spreadsheet which has all of the recommended maintenance, along with some "good ole advice" of things that should also be maintained that they'd be willing to share...

     

    FWIW - My wife and I have minimal experience with anything RV related.  We bought this RV, a 45' Beaver Marquis, and are in the process of going full-time right now (house is being sold at the end of the month)

  10. Regarding HWH (Moscow, IA / headquarters), I was just there a couple weeks ago to have some service work done.  I'm sorry to hear about no return calls, but I can say that for me... they were exceptionally nice, accommodating, and they did a great job fixing my HWH system(s).

  11. All, huge thank-you for all of your suggestions, I sincerely appreciate it!

    Today we’re in Moscow IA, and we have an appointment the “mothership” of HWH.  (having our leveling and slides “checked-out”). Tomorrow… I’ll start digging into the low air pressure on the brakes again (I’ll post my findings as I come across them)

       1. 2005 Beaver Marquis

       2. RV was in storage for 12-months

       3. Normally… upon starting, the brake “air pressure low alarm” will sound for a couple of minutes (until ~70-PSI has been reached

       4. Now… after starting (since being in storage) and while sitting at idle, the air pressure will only reach about 65-PSI.   Thus causing a continuous low pressure alarm condition.  
     

    HOWEVER… IF the the engines RPM’s are increased for a couple of minutes, then the pressure will build-up and stabilize around 90-PSI on the low end.  From there… the air pressure will then fluctuate between ~90-130 PSI, until sitting in an idle condition for longer than about 3-4 minutes.  I’ve also noticed that the fluctuation time seems to be faster if going up hill…

     

    I suspect a small air leak somewhere and the “fluctuating” of the air pressure (between 90-130 PSI) is due to the cycling of compressor…. ?

     

    Any thoughts and/or recommendations are appreciated!

    Regarding your Chin's lithium battery:

    1. Where did you purchase it (URL please)
    2. Was price your only factor in choosing Chin's... ?
    3. How long did it take to get... ? (from order time, to the time that it arrived)

    GREAT job on everything that you've done thus far, I'm very impressed!!!  Please keep posting... (I'm in a very similar situation and going fulltime soon, by Thanksgiving '21)

  14. Regarding alternators, due to recent experience, and a ton of help from here..., listed below is what I know:

    1. My alternator, 8LHP2170, is a DUVAC, for a 2005 Beaver Marquis (CAT C13)
    2. On my alternator, there were two primary posts, Positive & Negative, along with 3-smaller posts (which are NOT used for my situation)
    3. Albeit a lot more expensive, I was strongly advised by several members here to only purchase from AJ-Electric    sales@aj-elec.com    https://tinyurl.com/y35lqfw2   (Which I did.  They were AWESOME and... I'm glad that I did!)
    4. After replacement, my voltage directly off of alternator Positive terminal was a constant 14.2 VDC

     

    As far as blowing a fuse goes, In My Opinion (IMO) - If it were me, I'd try/do:

    1. Turn your main "house switch" off prior to starting
    2. Look at your chassis batteries for possible bad and/or internally shorted cell(s)

     

    FWIW (For What It's Worth), I asked AJ-Electric about them possibly rebuilding my failed alternator, to keep as a ready spare, and they said it wasn't worth it. (something else would probably fail sooner or later...)
