  1. Been rving 11 years, winter 3 mo in heat. Summer traveling around the west coast & the middle of this great country.  We are from NJ..

Rule #1 250-300 miles a day (with acouple of rest stops) depending on where we want overnight. Now I have right eye retina problem but still do the same.  Boss says always stop before dark & it works for us.

  2. A fun just imagine

New  years resolutions…In case you want to exercise more in 2022, ponder this:
    • The inventor of the treadmill died at the age of 54.
    • The inventor of gymnastics died at the age of 57.
    • The world bodybuilding champion died at the age of 41.
    • The best footballer in the world, Maradona, died at the age of 60.
    • James Fuller Fixx, credited with helping start America's fitness revolution by popularizing the sport of running, died of a heart attack while jogging at age 52.

      BUT ...

    • The KFC inventor died at 94.
    • Cigarette maker Charles Winston died at the age of 102.
    • The inventor of opium died at the age of 116, in an earthquake.
    • And, the Hennessey Liquor inventor died at 98.

How did smart people come to the conclusion that exercise prolongs life?

The rabbit is always jumping up and down, but it lives for only two years, and the turtle, that doesn't exercise at all, lives 400 years.

Oh yes of course, Hugh Hefner died at 90 on the job ( or shortly thereafter)

So in 2022  chill, stay cool, eat, drink and enjoy your life!

  3. Every panel i have ever seen they are both connected through the panel. The neutral on shore ele is the stand & the ground is the chassis. With the gen running both are chassis bound.

If you Google it, its right. As a practical matter, if he dosent know this does he know water flows down hill.

A good licensed electrician would be better in this case.

  4. Was pleasantly surprised this morning. Coach winterized but the question in my tech head..... does the basement heat controller really work

21degF I turned on the Hurticane, (living space tstats off) went out 20 min later and I am a happy camper.

The basenent tstat has the pump running the basement heater is on and everything works as intended for winter operation.  I also have installed a parallel 1500w electrical heater with an on/off tstat for operation on shore power just in case I need it.    A little redundancy never hurts.

I'm just happy the hurricane operates as intended.

  5. Ticks a man off when that happens.

Try & create a test unit with a 12v bulb holder & your old burned out charger connector.  Blow a bulb maybe. Could also cut off charger & use cut wires to check voltage.  Even if it was wired backwards it shouldnt fry the charger. 12v center pin, ground outside contact metal. Check both to ground.

Sorry but writing about a reason why something like this might happen is not like having it in your hand, kinda like flying blind.

  6. I completely replaced an Airstream floor years ago from the frame up. The partical board that was there surprised me for such an expensive trailer

I uaed marine plywood as a base it can take the dampness better than anything.  A little expensive but worth the extra.  With a base like that you do what you want, I did blonde hardwood t&g.  Looked great & was solid.

Good luck with your project, maybe a pan under the crate like those used for attic A/C units or 2nd floor washing machine, plug the drain

  7. My tow job was from coach'net.

They will tow you where you want but in my discussions with FMCA $ Good Sam they will only tow you to a Cat or Cummings for engine associated problems.

All of them will give you one time tow. We got towed twice by coach'net because they hadn't told us it was a one time tow.

Our situation became complicated because we called coach'net for on site road service to try a fix, when that didnt work we were towed to the road service diesel shop. (first mistake) as they didnt have the Cat test module for the ECM.  4 days later we find this out.

Left there & got towed to a Caterpillar service center 7 miles away and they did the repair & kept to the time table they first told us.

This happened to us in Idaho a lot of miles from home in NJ. Next time we will use FMCA as they appear to have their act together & their towing would have saved us a bundle as tge would have towed to Caterpillar right off.

    Lessons learned

  8. I had this happen a few months ago. Make sure you get it to the proper engine shop.

I was towed to a deisel shop & $2000 later found they didnt have test equip.

Went to Cat authorized shop, 4 hours diagnosed ECM.  $6000 fix + hotels & first shop $2000. Hope you have insurance.

Was a choker, just bought it, no warranty 3 days before.

  9. Cover everything within spark distance with wet towel's or a sbstitute (plastic underneath the towel) to prevent burn marks from slag sparks if you are doing arc, if torch welding heated area will be bigger but the same care will work.  Steady hand will make a great job.

  10. Seems as if some where there is a change in power when tranferring to the inverter.  Does this also happen when going from generator power. If it does then a ground (i would think) is wired incorrectly creating a false overload.  This can be created when wiring the coach circuts to the inverter.... try disconnecting the ground at the inverter... just a test, then see if the circut trips. Sounds like a definate mis-wiring somewhere.

I would say first find the circut with an amp probe then start disconnecting outlets to isolate the item  IMHO.

  11. At the breakers there is usually enough black wire to clamp around, as I read it appears to be tripping without any load, is that right?  Internal inverter problem may cause this condition.. if you disconnect all load wires from it & it still trips.. you need it checked.
