We discussed a diesel shortage last May on this forum and I kinda put it out of my mind until yesterday. I went to fill up and I was told I could only buy 100 gal.  I read an article where we are down to a small amount in the whole country. Something like 30 days supply.  With winter coming and my main source of heat will be diesel.......this is kinda scary. Is anyone else seeing problems with rationing or finding diesel?

Just traveled over 1,000 miles no problem getting Diesel I carry 150 gallons and always fuel when at 1/2 tank just to be on the safe side. This trip we ended on a two lane road with road construction and was stopped cold  30 minutes waiting for a pilot car so be careful and always fuel early.

If I remember correctly the US has carried a 25-30 day supply of diesel for the last 10+ years. It’s just become a talking point for worthless politicians.

You are so correct the polications are trying to scare everyone don't listen to them and stay clear of the fake new stories

I was just going to post something on this and found this string. I just started following this "shortage." We are planning a trip to Georgia in December and I'm not super keen on getting stuck up there. I see the posts here that there's "not shortage in Florida" (where we also live) but how can we know? With the wackiness that's been happening, might we end up at the pump someday only to find out they're out?

There's a place near us in Lutz that has the cheapest gas around. They also have diesel. For no other reason other than the owner is trying to help people, his prices are 30-40 cents  less than anywhere else, including the Walmart that's right down the street. They put bags over the pump handles when they're out. (and that's every week) They do get refilled though. I went in there on Saturday and saw people pumping gas WITH the bags on the handles. I waited until a lady filled up. She pulled away as another older lady pulled up. When I went to the pump, it said "out of fuel." So I started to head in to the store. I asked the lady on her way out to her car, if they were pumping gas today. She said something like if I asked, they'd let me have some gas. So I went in to ask the owner. He told me that they were down to 100 gallons and he was saving that for the little old ladies and then walked away.

When that last fuel scare happened, (I think that was 2020 or 2021) all the places around here were out. I was at a local gas station to get fuel for the lawn equpment and witnessed a fight. People get stupid when their routines are messed up. Well, they get stupid for lots of reasons, but we will get to a point where this will become the norm. Probably sooner than later. I hope y'all continue this string and keep people updated.

Maybe someone should list the fuel apps they use. The only one I'm familar with is GasBuddy.

You should be fine always fuel when you are close to 1/2 tank I carry 150 gallons and always fuel at 1/2 to 3/4 tank yes some say I fuel to soon but at 150 gallons I can travel 1,000 miles which will get me home from where I am. We have not had any fuel shortage on the west coast and I try to fuel at the Indian casino's where fuel is cheaper
