You're so right.These rigs are made to be run.Keeps all the gaskets and the seals healthy. Didn't realize you could lose an axle ,  because of that.

I could have used a sledge on a number of problems on the coach. Ha

I was thinking the same thing. He had a lot of trouble getting that axle back into the differentiall.  I told my wife I wouldn't even attempt that on the road because our coach is drivable. And  has a  small leak At best. I'd rather monitor the differential oil level on the way back home rather than do this by the side of the road.  If can't get it back together again and you're stuck.!

 Now I get it! I  didn't understand at first that there was a paper seal on the rear axle. Here is a  helpful video on how to replace that paper.seal on the rear Axle. this video shows step by step how to do  the whole process.

Follow-up to our rear wheel seal which may not be leaking. When I get back to Phoenix I'll have spectrac suspension  I'll take a look at it. The tech  indicated that if it did need a wheel seal, it would be a special order item and not off-the-shelf. Does anybody have the wheel seal part number that would work on a 1998 Monaco Dynasty with an Eaton differential? This would be great to have if they do need to order it. Thank you for any help.

I like your positive outlook.And I did just have both rear tires off getting wheelspacers on the inside of both duals.  I will clean it up and hopefully that will be the end of the problem.But you given me a little bit of peace of mind  on our vacation.

Just put it into Paso Robles in our 1998 Monaco dynasty and  noticed on the left rear tire and hub some leakage from what i'm assuming is the weel/axle seal that is now leaking. I didn't see any residual oil spraying up the back of the rig. Or a lot around the chassie or on the ground.   assuming that it just started today.   What are the chances we could drive back to Phoenix and Have it repaired at Spectrac.   It's a 2 day drive. We have an Eaton differential. I was thinking of contacting a truck stop on the way back, but I'm seeing posts from some Monico drivers that have had wheel bearing seals replaced over and over with the wrong part seal.  So I was wondering if this is an easy part to find with an off the counter fix or something that has to be ordered?  any advice would be much appreciated. I understand that some oil could get on the brake shoes and compromise the effectiveness but what are the chances of monitoring the oil level in the differential on the way back?

Just a final thought  the technician just took me out to look at the wheel on the coach and you could not have used more than a 1/4 in thick spacer. the nut is fully on all the threads but little protruding out further.  He said they usually like to have a half inch of stud sticking out from the nut but the nut is fully engaged on the threads but not much extra sticking out.

Glad you mentioned the one quarter inch size. I was trying to figure out how big a spacer needs to be ordered. Another post  mentioned a half inch spacer but I'm not sure I got enough stud space for that.  I'm taking the rig down to spectrac a suspension expert tomorrow for them to take a look at it.

Thanks to all for your valuable help and especially to some of the members who furnished me with the specs for the wheel spacer I'm down at Spectrac in Mesa, Az having them installed and they fit perfectly. I got them from Rosendo at Bronson tire supply in San Bernardino fie  $285 including shipping for quarter inch thick wheel spacers.  the guy who was working on the tires thinks I could have got thicker ones but  not sure. I'll attach photo of the offending Bolt and it looks like the top part is hitting the tire perhaps when I hit a bump the tire flexed down and rubbed on that Bolt hoping the quarter inch thick wheel spacers will pull it away just enough. 

I have a nice big mouse and rat glue board out just in case.  When the tech removed the old cable it was in pretty good shape and the new one is in there now. No vermin, so far!

Well the tech did use the old cable to begin with and then we had the problem so then he installed the new cable. Interesting to note that we're in Missouri when we had a satellite problem I called DirecTV and got some person who started having me reprogram the size of the dish and tech stuff and right after that, I noticed the comm failure warning in the box but my tech said that had nothing to do with it. it's two different systems.

My tech thought there was a pinched wire when it first went out.  The dish raised properly, and we got an dish comm error when we went to put it down. He got a new box and circuit board and he did the same thing. Now with a new base, it still did the same thing. Very frustrating. We are waiting for word from Winguard about what they found out when they got the base back.  Thanks

We were on vacation this summer our Winegard Direct TV HD dish failed with the notice "antenna comm failure"  We were told the dish was shot and had to order another one, at $2400 they don't come cheaply.  When the tech installed the new dish and box, it went up ok, locked in on the satellites but when we went to put it down, the box fried. You could smelt the  wires had overheated.  He ordered a new box and circuit board and after installation, that fried as well. Then Winegard sent him the entire new bottom thinking maybe a wire was pinched inside. We just installed that and again it won't work and the box smells overheated again. Our electrical system checks out with no problems but -but the tech has never seen anything like it. 3 bad parts exchanged and it still  won't work. He doesn't know what else to do? Has anybody had this difficulty lately with a Winguard Pro Traveler. It was ordered thru Camping World. Winguard has not tested the returned unit yet and we are waiting for them to get back to us.  Any help would be appreciated. 

I've often thought that during one of my tire changes the spacer got taken off and not put back on again because it wasn't a problem when we purchased the coach. Thank you

Thanks much. I am glad yours worked out. I didn't thank getting a couple of quarter inch spacers would be such a hassle.

I had contacted wheeladapter.com in Canoga Park and sent them Mike's schematic for 1/4 in wheel spacers and they said no problem, they would give me an estimate right away. That was weeks ago. I have called a guy named Fred, and emailed numerous times and never have heard back again. I am losing confidence with this company who can't even give me an estimate. I'm open to names of other companies that might be able to machine these two wheel spacers for our rear tires. thanks

Seems I found a place who can do the wheel spacer and I'm waiting for an estimate to come in on Monday it's wheel adapters.com in Canoga Park. he was the only one I talked to who didn't think it would be a problem.

Good idea. Not sure we did that when replacing. I like the adjustable feature of ours. I forget what number we are using but I did bring the rig back in to adjust for a softer ride.

Possibly that matches a metric size, but that's the wrench I'm using, and it fit's perfectly!

We love Koni shocks and got rid of the bilston's and replaced all of our shocks on the 1998 Monaco Dynasty with Koni. not to change the subject but the problem we had, was nearly half of the bottom shock mounts at some time or another have torn off when I'm leveling the rig at a campsite and get down low. I had to go to Spectrac and they small welded boxes for the shock absorbers and it's never been a problem again but I don't think the original Monaco shock mounts are strong enough in many cases so just a word to the wise.

Metric? What's that? Just kidding.. it does get confusing especially with some American cars that have foreign Parts on them I just bought a whole set of open end wrenches. One is SAE other side metric.

Most helpful. your measurements in mm are the same as others have told me in inches    11:25 inches.  easy to measure with the wheels off for sure

Everyone is so helpful on this site.  Looks like I have all the info to get some 1/4 inch spacers ordered. what a great resource this is.
