  1. Some suggestions were interesting and others were off topic. The question was about the question mark arms and nothing to do with straps. Not sure how successful my solution will be as I have not re-installed the awning. I placed the arms on boards under my jacks with the portion of the arm that was bent over the gap between the two boards. I placed another small board over where the arm was bent and had my wife gentle bump the jack down as I watched. When the bend was removed I had her bump the jack one more time to slightly bend the arm the other way to allow for some spring back when the jack was released. I am thinking of reversing sides when I re-install the arms. Right arm on the left and left arm on the right. If this doesn't do the trick I will have to wait until Chris re-stocks his inventory. If I had not purchased a new cover from Stone Vos last summer I may have just replaced the entire awning with one that just covered the slideout.

  2. I am looking for a source for the question mark arms used on the Carefree Omega topper awning. These awnings were used in the early 2000's as a combo slide out cover and window awning. Chris's company is out of stock for now and I would like to get my awning re-installed before his stock will be replenished. Any suggestions for a source or how to straighten the arms.

  3. I replaced mine a few years ago. Ordered new outer shell from Veurinks. Drilled out the rivet's, cleaned the area with a plastic putty knife and denatured alcohol. I do not use Eternabond cleaner as it will remove the paint. I should have ordered both the inside and outside shell as separating the old one was very difficult. I believe I resealed the two pieces with rope caulk and used rope caulk as a base to set the skylight on. Installed new rivets and used Eternabond tape to seal the installed skylight to roof. This was 5 or six years ago and no problems.

  4. I am home and will assess the problem next month. I ran a little over 100 miles and had the oil changed again, then it was a little over 100 miles home.  I haven't checked the oil level on the dip stick since I got home yesterday. If it wasn't coming up on Thanlsgiving and I wasn't so close to home I would have repaired it on the road. I am guessing it is the CAPS pump seal as the engine ran perfect. If that is the cause and the CAPS pump has to be removed I probably will replace the pump. as the coach is approaching 160,000 miles. After everything is taken care of I will do an oil analysis at the next oil change. Thanks to all that replied.

  5. Not sure when the diesel got in the oil. I hadn't checked the oil level as the oil was changed about 2000 miles ago.  I noticed the oil pressure a little lower than usual. Checked the oil level when I got to the campground and it was over full and is pushing out the breather tube. Engine is running fine so would guess it is the seal on the CAPS pump. Would rather have it worked on at home about 200 miles. That was the thought to change oil and filter and drive it home. The opinion from the group appears to be not to drive it even if I change oil and filter.

  6. I watch the weather very close on my trip route and will lay over somewhere safe if bad weather is predictided on my route. I have been in temps in the low teens for a few days with no problems. I run the tank and bay heaters and make sure I have plenty of propane for the furnace. Items that will freeze in an unheated cargo bay could be a problem. If temps are below freezing I always turn on the block heater a couple hours or more before I start the engine to leave.

  7. Let me start off by saying, I am not disagreeing with those that use a braking system for their toad. I own a 2001 Holiday Rambler which I bought new. In the owners manual on page 233, under brake systems, it states that the brake system is designed to accommodate the weight of the vehicle and towing loads. With a 30,000 lb GVW and a 10,000 lb hitch the braking system will accommodate 40,000 lbs.
