  1. Tom,

Thinking about what you said, during my generator switch issue, my inverter was on. So I now 'assume' the 30 amp light on the EMS was indicating what was available from my inverter and batteries.  So the two observations, no generator start with interior switches and 30 amps available on EMS, were separate issues. They just seemed to go together at the time.

    Thanks for the knowledgeable response.

This has come up few times earlier and if your other interior switch (I suppose you have more than one) doesn't work either, the typical suspect is a large 10 pin connector on top passenger side of your generator. It may look clean but it has always been my culprit. If your other internal switches work, then the dash switch could likely be your problem.

A search for generator dash switch brought up this post which fixed my exact issue.  Another indication I had was only 30 amp available on the EMS, but 50 amp on shore power.  Thank you Monacoers.org, again.

Dash A/C compressor froze up, shredded serpentine belt.  Truck repair business sourced and installed new compressor and belt, but that's all.  Refrigerant hoses and electrical not connected to new compressor.  Need recommendations for A/C service shops in Jacksonville, FL area ( within ~100 miles) to finish the job.  Probably need to remove and install new dryer and expansion valve, and the normal evacuate, clean, vacuum, refill, test.

If anyone has part numbers for the dryer and expansion valve, that would be very helpful.  I will check the parts list.

Wraps that I have inquired about thay say have a 5yr lifespan depending on how the coach is stored & the environment you live in. Then they need to be removed.

We just reserved a spot to get our coach painted in Los Algodones Mexico in February. Its a 38ft Monaco diplomat Full body paint 4 colors.  $14G. It will take 5 to 8 weeks to complete.  They have been in business 45 years. In the states we have been quoted 28g & up.

Do the paint shops in Mexico remove and reapply all of the caulking as part of the job?  Belt lines, slides, windows, vent panels, etc?

  5. Anyone added a pull-down awning to a window that does not have an awning?  The large hallway window in my 08 HR Ambassador 40 SKQ allows a high amount of heat and I would like to add an awning to the window.  I have found a couple of sources such as https://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/products/sl-window-awning.html.  Anyone have experience with add-on awnings such as this?  Are there other manufacturers who provide better quality, IYOO?  Thanks.

  6. George,

Only been on one trip with the RV890.  Learned 2 things:

    1. The suction mount will not hold on a textured slightly curved dash (duh).

    2. The unit will not download and install a map update when connected via WiFi to a phone hotspot or MiFi.  It looks like it is going to work, but never installs the update.  However, using the supplied USB cable to connect the unit to a laptop that is connected via WiFi to a phone hotspot or MiFi and running GarminConnect on the laptop works fine.

Maybe more after the next trip.

They don’t make a bean bag mount for the RV890 yet. I’ve been looking. We used a sticky pad under the screw down adapter for now because the wife wants to see the screen too. It holds ok but not a long term solution. The RAM mounts are 17mm for the 7 series, the RV890 uses a 25mm (1”)ball. I’m open to suggestions too.

I found a bean bag mount for the RV890 on Amazon.  Less than $10.  Weighs 1lb-3oz.  2lbs-10oz with the RV890 attached.  The disc is 3 7/8 inches (95mm) in diameter.  The RV890 suction cup is about 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Has a rubber pad and a sticky ring on the bottom to minimize slippage.  Works like a charm.

Amazon also has 95mm dashboard discs to mount to the dashboard to use with the RV890's mount's larger suction cup.  Two for less than $10.

  8. Took another look at the steering column covers, and..... Wahla!!  They came off just like ya'all said they would.  Removed and unplugged the module and started the search using ya'lls input on parts.  Ordered and received today from Amazon a Standard Motor Products DS301T Turn Signal Switch.  Looks exactly like the original.  So here's hoping.  Thank you greatly for the excellent technical support.  BTW, the turn signal lever on this unit just pulls straight out.

    Rick and Greg,

Excellent info!  I will tear into it tomorrow.  Intermittent -> pin connector -> logical.

But if I need a new switch, $38.00 is MUCH better than over $200.00 some want.

Update: I couldn’t get the steering wheel to break loose from the steering shaft, even using a wheel puller.  So I soaked it with PB Blaster and put the nut back on.  Coach is in for servicing now.  Hopefully better luck when I get it back.

    Joe,

Without a "Smart Wheel" you may not have "clock spring",  could be a regular turn signal mechanism, available at any good auto parts store. Try looking in this sites parts list. Not a bad idea to download the parts list and have it handy.

Bill,  I do have the parts list downloaded, but I was looking for clock spring, not knowing any better.  Thanks for the info.

I believe it is separate from the clock spring.  I have a parts page for my steering column and the turn signal mechanism is like this

Part number is a TS012 Turn Signal Kit, I'm sure you can find a better price.

    Jim,  Thank you.

  11. 2008 HR Ambassador 40SKQ, ISC360, RR8R, Not SmartWheel.  First the turn signal lever on steering column wouldn’t stay engaged (up or down). I had to hold the lever up or down to keep the turn signal activated. Now both the left and right turn signals only occasionally indicate activation, based on the green arrow lights on the dash. I “assume” this is a clock spring issue. If I could be pointed in the right direction to find steering wheel/column disassembly and parts information, I will be very appreciative. Regards,

  12. We had a Cricket for about three years.  Worked great.  Goes fast enough.  Never any issues except when I towed it because we ran the batteries down.  DON"T TOW A CRICKET!!  It ruins the motor and motors are about $300.  The Cricket fit in our Ford Edge.  We had it insured.  We sold it because we purchased electric bikes, and also wanted a full size golf cart for use in the neighborhood.
