  1. Good morning

We have a 2009 Knight 38PKQ that has a damaged Sirius XM antenna.  I have a replacement but ...

Has anyone replaced their Sirius antenna?  If so, I'm wondering how you managed to do this?  There does not appear to be an 'easy' access to the ceiling area near the same location that the antenna is located or even access to the top of the left pillar which is where I imagine the coax is located.  I hope I do not have to remove all of the front cabinets!

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Not sure how your coach is wired.  In mine the power comes into the service panel, there is a double pole breaker that provides power to each side of the panel.  The breakers are evenly split on either side which provide power to each of the circuits.  Each AC unit is on either side to distribute the power evenly.  Water heater also has it's own breaker.  and there is a Inverter 1 & 2 feeds on either side.

From what you describe it sounds like 1/2 of your panel may not be powered.

Try flipping the main breaker on/off.  Check voltages on either side of the panel to make sure you have power on either side.

    Thanks

interesting thing. I have my surge guard plugged into the pedestal and this shows both legs are fine.  Will  try and pull the cover off the distribution panel today and measure as you suggested.  Thanks for the suggestion.

One leg of the 50 amp power from the pedestal could be missing. It could be in the pedestal, the power cord, the transfer switch or the main AC distribution panel. Try the generator to see if things work when the generator is on. If they do then the problem is either in the transfer switch, power cord, or the pedestal.

Starting to look like it could be the transfer switch.  All is good in the generator.  Thanks.

  3. The front AC, electric water heater and kitchen island AC outlets, all stopped working this morning on our 2009 Monaco Knight 38PKQ.  Indicator lights work on AC unit and furnace works from remote (through AC unit).but no power from power outlets on island.  Any ideas?  Breakers are all good. Have 50amp input and line quality is good.

    thanks

  4. During this recent 'episode' with getting the MH started we ended up contacting the local Freightliner shop and they came out, removed the old filters and pre-filled the new filters before installing.  Once installed, we turned on the electric fuel pump twice for approx 15 seconds each time and voila ... started right up ... no issues.  According to the Frieghtliner trained mechanic, this is the way that he was trained by Freightliner to correct this situation.

  5. We have been struggling to find the source (and correct) of a water leak in the rear bedroom drivers side slide of our 2009 Monaco Knight 38 PKQ.  We have had it in to the repair shop twice for this and each time they 'believe' they have corrected, but ....  The first time we were told that the issue was "blocked internal roof eavestrough drains".  This weekend as a result of an old fashioned gully washer storms our carpeting on both sides of the slide is wet, again.  Has anyone else had this issue?  If so how did you detect and correct the source of the problem?

    Thanks in advance

  6. Went to start our 2009 Monaco Knight 38PKQ yesterday With the Cummins ISC 360 HP and engine turned over fired and before getting up to idle speed (approximately 1-2 seconds) engine shut down.  No warning lights came on.  Engine turns over still but will not fire. Sounds to me like there is an air lock in the fuel system.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I cannot find the hand primer?  Does anyone know if this engine/ model has one!  If not, how would you correct this situation?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

    Thanks. Laurice

This is no different from an automotive paint repair. The biggest problem is that we have no idea how thick the clear coat is and there is a chance to polish through it to the base and then you have a real problem. I would not expect the thickness to be consistent all around the bus either. I use 3M products in 3 steps (from automotive paint dealer), depends how much or little of the clear you have to take out to level the surface to your satisfaction, knowing there is a chance of going too deep.  You may want to start with the final fine grit and see if you can live with it. You need to expect that anything with any grit will dull the shine so you still need to polish it afterwards...

Like Bob said, dual action only and variable speed. Make sure it is really set for dual action since there is usually a mechanism to switch it on or off. Never use just the edge of the buffer wheel and never start it before it is flat against the surface. Never polish sharp edges, tape them off or you WILL  burn through them. YouTube is probably full of videos to help out. Alternatively you can try vibrating polishers, they are cheap, I think safe but not very effective for repairs. I use the ones that look like a big grinder.

    Thanks very informative.  Much appreciated

  8. I took off the skirting on our 2009 Knight 38PKQ today and found that the skirting has left rub marks in our paint.  I’ve tried to take them out with Mothers scratch remover and while the marks are not as visible, they are definitely still there.  Has anybody else had the same problem and if so, how did you correct. Thanks in advance
