  1. Make sure your installer knows what he’s doing.  My first replacement set of GY 650’s I used Dyna Beads and ran 9 years / 50k miles with perfect wear pattern.  I inspected the demounted tires, inside still looked like new.  The next, a shoddy install in Kingman Az, installer buffed the steel rim beads with a wire wheel down to raw steel and mounted with soapy water.  6 years later     50k miles, I was getting a deep “River channel pattern” on 3 of 6 tires.  I pulled the tires and found the excess soapy water solution has rusted the inside of the “bad” wheels, and the rusty muck had caused the beads to clump, and dozens of beads were embedded in the tire bead.

  2. I have the same “pitot tube” vacuum pump that works off an air line.  I took it apart and put a tip cleaner down the pitot tube, worked once, then stopped working again. Through trial and error I discovered that a rap on the pump with a screwdriver handle when the engine was running would work, vacuum door on the dash a/c would immediately work and continue to work until I restarted the engine.  This workaround went on for several years.  Last year I changed out my air governor due to excessive time to pump up my air bags. This fixed the slow airbag problem and also fixed the vacuum pump problem.  You need to find out what your air pressure is.

  3. Jim, what is the current status of your install? If your still looking for a path from rooftop to battery compartment, I wanted to chime in that on my Knight 32PBD I pulled my cables through the electrical trough in the rear AC and fished the cables through the ceiling to drop into the rear tv cabinet. I put the boost controller nearby and exited the boost controller down the back bulkhead area and over to the battery compartment. IMG_0521.thumb.JPG.d3f0bb7d0881aa8f08417546ec74ec79.JPGIMG_0524.thumb.JPG.6e407b2c721b222d1146f759621b4921.JPGIMG_0509.thumb.JPG.c4d0f006f69a17f1a2ea20f524950ef3.JPGIMG_0520.thumb.JPG.994e0e27755ca83b2247fce4e8f4fff1.JPG

  4. I replaced my radiator 3 times.  After the 1st time, I made some hardware modifications that enable me to do the job in under 6 hours.  IIMG_8290.thumb.JPG.732cd5763bf86a50a272174180f08df3.JPGn 2018 I replaced my radiator in Eufaula State Park, OK.  Drove my toad to Gadsen, and brought back a replacement and changed it in under 6 hours, with the help of my 110 lb. girlfriend.  I found the 4-core radiator more prone to clogging with grease/dirt and now I just use a 3-core and it runs cooler, longer before cleaning becomes needed.

  5. IMG_9867.thumb.JPG.9b9147b17294f831c60a4840d3bc1c80.JPGSlow down!  I never exceed 60mph since a rogue crosswind hit me driving 70 mph in 2002 and pushed me 4' into the adjacent lane. I have towed a car over 40k m. Goodyear tires since new. You might be surprised how easy it is to become accustomed to driving at slower speeds and how your fuel economy improves.
