  1. I too went through a period where I was building trust in the System Heat. My experience was complicated by the fact that I was starting with a newly repaired system as it was busted and modified by the previous owner.

I used an indoor/outdoor thermometer placing the outdoor sensor in the wet bay to monitor things but might get one with the daily high/low recorder like this:

  2. Joanne,

I read through your posts and it's not clear to me if you're needing troubleshooting help, or just asking about the System Heat in general. With the power switch on, the heater in the wet bay will activate when the temperature inside the bay gets near freezing. Much like a furnace in a house, it will run until the thermostat shuts the system off.

Look in your wet bay for the heater. Previous posts have photos of what to look for and note that it may be tucked behind stuff. You might also have the heating pads. These look the same as a heating pad you'd buy at Walgreens.

The heaters sometimes fail and owners/technicians don't always repair things back to factory specifications so some of what we're describing might not look the same as what you find. I know this first hand.

Close up photos of your wet bay will help us help help you. 🙂

  3. The Power Gear leveling system on my 01 HR Scepter did have a sticker on the jack with a model number so at least in *some* circumstances the info is there. I can appreciate your desire to not crawl under the coach though.

Going at this from a different direction, I would think that the jack would have been provided as part of the leveling system to Holiday Rambler/Monaco. Then maybe figure out what jack would have been supplied with that system. With that in mind, is there a brand name printed on the control panel on the dash? In the box of manuals that was supplied with the coach, mine included one for the leveling system. Maybe that'll have some information.

I was able to locate used replacements at Colaw's and Visone but I had the model number off the jack.

  4. Hi Steven,

As someone mentioned, check the chassis section of your manual as I found the specs for mine there. I called the local Cummins Coach Care facility who gave me a referral to a shop they send their customers to for alignments. I lucked out and got a good shop but at a minimum I would expect them to have the resources to take care of your problem.

  5. I just did the exhaust on my 2001 HR Scepter. I reused the flanged pipe that attaches to the Pacbrake exhaust brake and had to order the associated v-band clamp from Pacbrake as I was unable to find it locally. I ordered most all of this plus some extra bits from Amazon as I wasn't 100% on how it would fit which I could easily return.

  6. Yes, you are correct. JR Products makes a line of switches that seem identical to the ones in my Scepter and while I'd have to go back and look, I think this was the brand I have. My intent was just to point Jim to another source and not the exact model numbers.

  7. Certainly you'll want to explore all the options. Air rotating a fan I would think would vary based on wind direction relative to the coach. In that case a tail wind would require more ground speed as the air speed would be less. I was asking about what the shop did because it wasn't clear to me if they were trying to diagnose the problem or just changing the wheel bearings per your request.
