Oxyled also makes USB rechargeable motion sensing lights. I use them in my closets and charge them when they start to dim.
Paul
Just noticed them this morning when I tried doing a search again for the ones I bought. Those for the closet have a lot more cells in them so I'm wondering if maybe they might be overwhelming.

I am sure that your coach is equipped with a Keyless Entry so there are wires that are fished into the door through some point to actuate the locking mechanism. Search the door for where those wires enter, then run the necessary wires using that same access point.
I'll check again. What I do see though is what looks like two brass contacts in the door jam near the hinges and I suspect that's what might be providing power to the door. Also, I got to thinking and will also need to drop the voltage down to 3v for powering those lights. I don't understand what they didn't set something up like the automotive industry.

I've been wanting to add lights to our entrance door to operate like ones in a car where when you open the door the lights automatically come on. I've found some OXYLED battery operated motion sensing lights on Amazon (see photo) that work well but they really go through batteries fast. I would like to find a way to hard wire them in, even if it's just the one at the bottom of the door. The ones I found have a magnetic strip that is double backed taped to the door then the light just magnetically attaches to the strip. They make larger ones for closets but I preferred these smaller ones and they came in a pkg of 3 which was perfect. Has anyone found a way to get constant power into the door 'easily' ?

If I was to make a change of location I would consider the Sevierville / Pigeon Forge, Tn. area. But where ever the location you must keep in mind that you will have to entice any representatives and presenters to travel there also and in order to do that you might have to start reimbursing them for their expenses. Whenever we go to that area we always visit in the fall because of the milder weather.
There's a TON of work and continuous coordination involved in setting something up like the 'Gathering' and having to do it over a very long distance makes it even more difficult. I believe Dave has been responsible for single handedly setting up The Gathering at Lazydays (Negotiating for a group site reservations, getting the different representatives to show up for presentations, scheduling a conference room along with media equipment, coordinating meals and menus etc .etc.) and they are just 150 miles away. My hat is off to him for all the effort he puts forth in pulling it off every year. Just trying to schedule something, especially in Florida during the winter months, so as not to conflict with all of the other events and activities going on around the country is a feat in itself. As you can imagine there is a LOT of homework that has to be done other then just picking a nice campground somewhere. In making suggestions it would be very beneficial to do some of this homework in advance otherwise you'll just be making more work for Dave, and ?, as then they'll be having to research EVERY suggested location presented and that will be another big burden placed on them. Just food for thought is all.

I was just in Costco yesterday and saw they have Interstate GC-2 batteries for $99 + tax of course.
They must be the flooded batteries like I have now. I've decided to go with AGM for my next set.
-
CountryB, From your numbers then I take it that the SAM's Club Duracell batteries won't meet your requirements ?
-
All 8 of my Interstate GC2-HD-UTL house batteries are dated 10/13 and finally getting ready to be replaced. A couple of the batteries are just 'tickling' the red mark on the hydrometer. I hear the Duracell AGM Batteries from SAM's Club would be a good replacement for my flooded batteries. However when I look at the specs for them I get a little confused as the numbers seem to be less than my Interstates. Am I looking at the correct battery from SAM's Club?
I heard I missed the big sale on them in Dec but when we got back home from The Gathering we had a SAM's Club flier in the mail indicating there will be a $20 off sale starting Feb 26 and ending Mar 22. Their add however says All Duracell Marine Batteries so I'm not sure yet if the Golf Cart 6V AGM batteries will be included in the sale.
So, the bottom line question is if the $179.73 Golf Cart batteries are the ones I should be getting to replace my Interstate batteries? Replacement Interstate AGM's are either $340.95 or $432.95 each so even if I have to pay the full price for the Duracells I'll be saving enough to afford to take Chris out to dinner 😉

Good morning everyone. For clarity, I have added a new category for A/C, heat pumps, and Aqua Hot systems.
I moved a few conversations from other categories to the new category.
Why I didn’t set this up in the first place... we’ll never know. 😂
Scotty, Do you think it would be beneficial to have a separate category just for batteries as well? I see it's in the 'electrical' section but there always seems to be a lot of discussions specific to battery types and brands. This is going to be one of my highlights of having to replace all 8 of my house batteries now so of course I'm looking for all the pros and cons of flooded (which I have 8 Interstates now), no maintenance and AGM's

OK, We are in site 201. I think it may be to small though to fit on my F-150. I'll check with Paul Osman. He owns a Ford dealership in Ga. and is with us.

I just got a dash cam from my wife for Christmas. She got it off amazon and I haven't looked into it yet. I recently saw an informative post on using a GoPro as a dash cam and it was pretty interesting. Wider viewing angle than a lot of dash cams, better stability and durability (think bicycle and motorcycle wrecks), small size, and mounting options. Maybe look into them, too?
Steven,
I tried using one of my GoPro's for a dash camp once in my F-150 and it shut down in about 20 min due to getting over heated in the sun. I had no problem with them being on top (outside) recording scenic drive videos because I thing the moving air probably cooled them down. When I pulled the GoPro off of the windshield after it shut down it was so hot I couldn't hold it in my hand. Of course this was in late April in sunny Florida when I was trying to record all the Love Bugs smushing on the windshield, Right now I'm using a Rexall dash camera in our coach and when it's in storage I move the camera to my truck for daily driving. Any camera you do decide may work for you be sure to check the specs as to how much heat it can tolerate.

Doug, My swivel cable broke at the lever and I was able to order a complete replacement from ' COACH SUPPLY DIRECT ' out of Edwardsburg, Mi. they can be reached at 800-589-7251. It was $35 plus $13 shipping. Josh was very helpful. The other lever/cable for the seat back appears to be frozen but I know that one is going to be a LOT tougher to replace. I may just try and but a replacement cable assy , is case they go out of stock, and hang on to it until I decide to reupholster the seats sometime in the future. I just pulled up their website and found the link that will get you to the cables: https://www.coachsupplydirect.com/rv-products/rv-seating-parts/ . Talk with Josh, you may have to send him a photo of what you're looking for as there are several different styles. Hope this helps.

They make locking caps for the standard 2" filler pipes. Here is link to one. https://www.fillernecksupply.com/copy-of-aluminum-2-npt-threaded-filler-neck-pipe-sections-choose-length/
Hmmm now that's interesting. I'll have to learn more about those. I'm curious as to how they are locked on. Thanks for posting.

I believe it's illegal to lock a compartment door covering/hiding a RV propane tank shut off valve
If you are worried about possible "fuel theft" put a locking fuel cap on the driver side fuel filler, (behind that compartment door with no lock).
Mel, My diesel fuel fill pipe has a plain threaded cap so I don't know how you could have a locking cap without some modification to it. I suspect the one you have the photo of is for a gas filler tube that has a lip on the inside for it to catch on.

Is your propane tank behind the door that can't be locked? If so, ours also can't be locked and I always thought it was to make it accessible in an emergency.
Ivan, That's probably a pretty good assumption. This is what's behind those two bay doors and it's the drivers side that can't be locked. Kind of funny they even bothered putting a lock in the small access door on the drivers side. 🙂

This RV compartment door lock looks to be an exact replacement for the "NO KEY LOCK!" latch pictured.
https://www.amazon.com/TriMark-Paddle-Compartment-Storage-Motorhome/dp/B018J2PQLS
However you will have to contact TriMark, https://www.trimarkcorp.com/en/Contact.aspx , to see if it is available in chrome.
Thanks Mel. Yeah, the only chrome ones I could find are for the entrance door. No big deal, I suppose it is safer to leave it unlocked.

What's strange on our coach is the the passenger side fuel bay door has locks taking two different keys but the driver's side only has a key lock for the small fuel door and the large bay door isn't lockable. Oh, and all 3 of those locks have to be manually locked, unlike all the other bay doors which lock electronically with the Key Fob.

OK, Thanks Bob. I checked with my friend who sells Fords and he didn't think it would fit. Do you have the mfg name of it? I might be able to check to see if it may be designed to fit several different models. If it's just for an Edge then it'll probably be to small.
-
Bob, Do you know if it will fit on a late model Ford F-150?
-
Scotty, is there a reason why there has to be a time limit for allowing a posting to be edited? Just curious is all. I posted an item for sale and then wanted to add something to the description a couple of days later and discovered there was no way to edit it. Not a real big deal this time though.

I have a RoadMaster tow bar for sale. Asking $250. Towing my F-150 required me to purchase a new Blue Ox. It was previously used to tow a Ford Explorer. I can bring it to the Gathering in February or even bring it over to the Tampa Super Show in January 2021 or it can be picked up near Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Where is the best source for the Lifepo4 battery. I did a quick search and only found them in 12 volt. What size do you recommend.
I will have to replace my old batteries soon and looking for options. I can buy 4 AGM from Sams for ~$160 this month.
I am going to be in the same boat as my 8 flooded 6v house batteries are dated 2013. They have been maintained well as I keep them topped off every month with Di water and there is a Power Pulse connected to each 4 battery bank so they seem to be holding up for now. I just replaced my two 12v chassis batteries in September and am expecting I'll be having to replace all of the house batteries soon as they were all pretty much the same age as the chassis batteries. I would also be interested in the source of these 'inexpensive' Li batteries.

Those were the good old days. I'm still trying to find room in my coach to fit my old tube Heathkit ham radio station that I built in the early 70's. Good thing that I kept the station. On eBay the price has more than doubled what I paid for it. All those tubes shure kept the shack warm!
Testing out to see if photos load.

I also remember those kits well 🙂 We're really showing our ages LOL

Hard wiring power into entrance door ?

JIM, my Executive does have those features but for the application I am looking for I would have to leave them on 24/7. When we have the coach parked in campground it's not a problem to have those on but when we have the coached parked at our house for a week or two before or after a trip it gets really dark by the coach. I don't want to leave it all lit up to irritate the neighbors anymore then I am by parking it in the driveway while we pack/unpack. When I go out at night and open the door I have to remember to carry a flashlight with me so I see to get up the stairs and find the light switch inside. It just would be nice to have some lights come on when I opened the door.
Hey Paul, let me know how it works out and post a photo if you can. I like the feature of being able to recharge them with a USB cord and may go that route. One downside of having them magnetically attached at the bottom of the door is that they occasionally get bumped off or come off is someone slams the door shut. The other two places I have them work fine with no issues.
