Ironic that since you posted this my fuel gauge stopped working.
it has power because when I turn ignition on the gauge jumps but reads fuel, assuming it must be a grounding problem. I can see the unit on top of the fuel tank thru the fuel door and the wires, checked all of them and they are not loose.
I’m keeping track of mileage and refueling as needed. Hoping there is a fix without having to drop tank. -
So glad that was all it was.
Cheers. -
Caps is separate from the fuel pump it sits on top of the pump And supplies the pump w fuel.
-
CAPS IS Cummins Accumulator Pump System.
Have them pull the fault codes also.
check crankshaft and cam shaft positioning sensors -
Have them check the CAPS first before u change fuel pump. Do u have two fuel filters primary and secondary Change them both. If it’s a Cummings engine

Just curious.

A couple of years ago my step stopped working in and out.
02 Diplomat, so figure maybe the motor was shot.
On that model of step the new motors require a new controller.
so I take a small hammer and tap on the motor, voila the motor worked a couple of cycles and quit again. So I’m thinking theses motors open and close and stop in the same position every time.
I take the motor off and take it to a shop that works on motors, had them clean up the commutator and put new brushes in it, reinstalled and it is working fine.
$50 well spent.

Kinda depends on where you fuel up. Water in diesel is never good. Cummins does not recommend using any additive. If you fuel up at Flying J, Loves, TA etc. you most likely won't have any fuel issues because of their large turnover of fuel and they have filters on every pump. That said, I pass on stations that are filling up their tanks from their transport trucks as the introduction of new fuel into those underground tanks stirs up a lot of sediment into the fuel you could be putting into your coach. I'm assuming you know how to drain the water from your fuel system. If not, please ask. This is something every diesel driver should know but is rarely covered. Also, if your coach is to be sitting for a bit, make sure your fuel tank is full to minimize condensation (water) build up inside the tank. I use 9.1.1. available at Wally World or any parts store, every fourth tank or so. Other than that, I don't use anything. Over 100,000 miles on my coach.....Denniis
I always fill up at the Larger Truck stops and do drain my filters pretty regularly.
Have used Diesel 911. Because of a water problem.
Just wondering if I’m doing things right or should b doing more. -
Thanks, will give it a try.
