Looked for a previous discussion, no luck.
In August, 2020, my right rear jack wouldn't stay down. My knee jerk reaction was the jack was leaking, needed rebuilt. Last fall the jack failed again. Now I realize that there is no up and down on the jack itself, it's all controlled by the solenoids. Searching how the jacks work, I realized that maybe the solenoid that controls the lifting or lowering of the jack may be bad. If that solenoid is always open, there wouldn't be any lifting. There is no sign of leakage on the outside. It worked for 3 1/2 years. Any suggestions?
I just bought a quart of ACDelco automatic transmission fluid Type III (H) on Amazon. Maybe it has come back to life.

Not to change the subject, but, what was the size of the wipers from the factory?

Sounds like the park/stop switch is involved.

On the front of the slide between the window and the outer flange, there's that black cover piece. I believe that controls the slide movement. There should be one on the end wall. There is something that controls the slide movement. I'm sure someone will explain it. My neighbor had a problem with his. I never got involved because my slides don't have it.

Have they totally pulled away and the spring section of the topper, on the slide out, had a free wheeling spin? It's important to lock down the spring loaded roll so the spring doesn't unwind.

Does one switch control the lights or does each light have its own switch?

Sailrite is a great resource.....

Andrew P, your Sailrite cording is a hollow pipe. When I replaced my toppers, Stone Vos sent a solid "rod" with the toppers. That is what Monaco used from the factory.

What was the length of the Google search rods?

The white plastic is probably UHMW. My 05 Ambassador has a beveled slide lift the whole length of the slide on the floor and the slide has a beveled edge the whole length, the bottom of the slide is all UHMW. Very expensive. With my self-made plates, the center of the slide barely touches the beveled cam. On the later models, Monaco probably realized they didn't need so much UHMW and just put it on the ends of the slide.

FWIW….we have many members that don’t trust new ones….Import or Bosch, out of the box. They have a bench rig or will put a new relay into a slot where there is NO PROBLEM. Then test that device or function to verify that the new relay works. Then they put back in the old, or if needed, they put the old one, that was working, into the socket that needed a new relay. I have a great tech that does that. He says he has been disappointed too many times…
Tom, it was a serious question of what is better, no derogatory statement was intended.

Hi Bob,
No sir, all relays are not created equal. Bosch relays, in my opinion are far superior compared to any I have used over the last 25 years. I don’t mean to sound ‘elitist’ but, if you get a German made relay vs a Chinese made relay- chances are you will regret it, and will probably be at the most inopportune time.
Good luck!
Nick
So you're saying Chinese is better than German?

What did you do with the shower drain and water lines or did you raise the pantry? I didn't realize there was 11 1/2" width there.

Silverleaf may be the easiest solution.

I had the same problem. What I did was with 1/4" ss washers, nuts and bolts. Put a 1 1/2" bolt and washer from the back of the hole and a washer and nut on the outside of the hole and used a wing nut to hold the license plate on.

Hadn't heard about it, you may have told me there's something new! As far as I know it's just A-B-C with C still meaning Center. But if I hear anything else I'll report back.
Noel, you don't have to check it out. It was an attempt at humor.

We are looking at replacing our sofa bed. And my wife is worried if we buy a conventional sofa it will weight too much.
I only ask because to keep my sanity. What would the max weight a slide can handle for a sofa? Yes I know loaded question.
2005 Monaco exec. Are you replacing the sofa bed with a conventional sofa?

Jeff, the two things that I came to appreciate about my 05 Ambassador after I bought it new was, no DEF which I think started in 08, and no multiplex. Two areas that I had no knowledge of. Grew up in the 60's when they only used wire to communicate and gas to travel. I am seriously considering a 60's/70's car to tow. No computer, no electric steering, no multiplex electronics. just points, plugs and light bulbs.

Jenny, Wildwood should have a few repairmen. Get an estimate but don't let the other repairmen know you're shopping around. See what the differences are.

Robert, how are your headlight lenses holding up? I have a broken one and a cracked one. Do you know from which automobile they came from? Been searching for years, but no luck.

Ed, remember the 05 Ambassador is the same platform as the 04-08(?) Endeavor. The Endeavor just had more items than the lower grade Ambassador. Its wiring would be the same.

Why can't you build a wooden cribbing under the vertical frame members, raised by the jacks? I use 4x6x8 wolmanized with a steel plate under the frame. If you need more, build under the jack and redo the process. This is what I do to winterize , gets the weight off of the tires.
