I have a RV5036 electrical power reel that I am scrapping.   The motor and 2 of the 3 brushes are good. Free, just pay shipping

did you end up selling the rv5036.  We are needing one for parts for ours.  Willing to pay for shipping or drive depending on where you are at.  We are in Georgia

Tom,  No I did not cut off the plug.  It was the two piece style and I opened it and checked wire end to wire end.  I also used the plug and cord for over a month before I had time to swap out the reel.  I didn't take any pictures or I would put one up for you.  A little background on me, I have over 40 years experience in field service supporting a wide variety of equipment.  I still manage a large team that supports Plasma Etchers in the Semiconductor Industry.  I know my way around high voltage and schematics.  As a manager I like doing all my own work on my Camelot as I don't do any hands on in my work anymore.

Thanks for all your feedback.  More eyes and brains on a problem makes it easier to get fixed.

Our 2006 Camelot 42 DSQ is experiencing the same issue, with the help of @Scotty Hutto (thanks again Scotty) he helped Ted narrow down that it is one of the 2 things mentioned. @TedZimmer will be attempting the end of the plug replacement praying that is all it is, if not then off to option 2 while on a 5 week vacation in the NorthEast, a temp line bypassing the reel, which just had its gears rebuilt 2 months ago and a WD combo installed on top of what would have been easy access to the reel location (back of our full bathroom towel closet that was plumbed for the W/D).

Of course the leg that is out is the one that feeds 2 of our 3 ACs (the front ones), but at least we have a nice cold bedroom.

Power works perfect when on Gen so that helped narrow it down to the power cord.

  3. so we purchased the Firestone 9335 12 volt aux air compressor.  Ted got it all installed and great news....it shut off like it should and no air leaks in the side of it like the original one did....so that was step 1.  Bad news after a few hours it has to kick on and seems like it is running for too long 15 to 20 mins to shut off again.  Back under the coach Ted goes with the spray bottle with soapy water ted goes....found bubbles in 2 places so the next few days he will replace those fitting and see if it stays off for longer then the 2 hours.

Question for those that their aux compressor is working.

How often does yours kick on when out camping?

How long does it run when it does kick on?

crazy thing is that we have been in level mode for 2 weeks before we replaced the aux compressor and it has not leaned at all (like it had in our previous post).  I had done some research on the compressor and found a beaver site where they say that if it gets cold out their beaver looses air and will lean...it has warmed up in Georgia to the point it has not been below 40 and when we had the lean it had been down in the 30's.  Just wondering if anyone else has a lean when it is cold?

Thanks to everyone for suggestions and comments, we are coming up on 2 years of owning our 2006 Camelot 42 DSQ and love it.  Getting the aux compressor working has been on the list of things to do so happy we are close (hopefully) to achieving that.

Got new blinds while at the FMCA rally super excited about that.

Just purchases a LG washer/dryer combo to put in the full bathroom (it was factory set up for it but original owner did not opt for the install), we will loose a cabinet but going to be worth it.  Cant wait to muscle that beast (160lbs) in the front door and back 43 feet then lift it up 1.5 feet and get it in the space.....i will leave that for another post, and not talk about the fact is is 23.4 inches wide and by removing the trim on our full bath door we will have 24.4 inches to navigate through.

    Thank you again!

    Stacy & Ted

  4. not to sound dumb but can you explain the theory behind why having air leaks is not the root of our issue.   last year we had an issue with 1 connector that when in travel mode the air would go out in less then an 5 mins making it not drivable, tech found the bad plastic connector, replaced it with a brass connector (this bad one was at the rear of the coach) and back in business no issues.  As preventive when in having service in October we had them change out the other plastic connectors.  Now 5 months later travel mode still works great, it can sitting in our drive way in travel mode  and not lost any air in the bags.  We go to a rally last week, arrive, go to level mode (we are air level only no jacks) come back 3 hours later leaning to the driver side.  Turn on the coach and air up stay in travel mode for , no leaning.  Think that maybe because it was cold the first few days maybe that cold caused an air leak at a fitting or o ring, go to level mode and within a few hours leaning to the driver side.  So far Ted has sprayed down the driver side front airbag, no leak there, today he will continue his spray and search mission.

We have had our Camelot for going on 2 years and this is the first diesel we have owned (previous 2 were gassers) and very first experience with airbags and air leveling.  Just trying to better understand the coach and how this system works.  We have looked over the file I am attaching to this message as someone else recommended it to us but we are still trying to wrap our heads around this leaking, tanks and fittings.

At the Monacoer rally in Tampa this year they discussed that all systems will loose some air, Dave said his Foretravel looses some over time but we know something is going on and there was a reason the previous owners had the fuse pulled for the accessory compressor (that was leak #1 Ted found).  So we are going to replace it.  I know Scotty said we could rebuild it but we had had no luck finding any part diagrams for the original Power Gear accessory compressor.

We appreciate all the knowledge in this group and are sponges ready to absorb the recommendations of the group.

Ted did take video showing the compressor and leak but cant get it to upload to the site, if it is helpful we can put them on our private youtube channel and post the link here if anyone thinks that will help in the trouble shooting of the issue

2006 Camelot 42 DSQ losing air on driver side only in the system within 3 hours when parked and in level mode. In travel mode no issues. (Travel mode had the issue last July which was a air leak at a connector so we had all of those connectors replaced with brass fittings )

HWH leveling system with a power gear accessory air compressor(that has not worked in the 2 years we have owned it, never leaked prior to two weeks ago). Accessory compressor has its fuse pulled, if you put it in the pump just runs until it blows the fuse.

The hunt for the air line leak begins. So Ted Zimmer wanted me to post this and see if anyone has any advise or has had this before.

Safety 1st built 2x12 step up ramps yesterday.

First air leak found in 2 minutes. See the photos it is at the accessory compressor at the side.   Been looking online for a parts list for the power gear 501184 compressor to see if there is a gasket where the leaks is. No luck anyone have a link to the parts list or know if there is a gasket.

Second leak found a few mins later. At the front air tank anyone replaced this fitting. Tried to put a wrench on it but nothing fit where it leaks is at the swivel of the fitting. So replace it ? Anyone have a part # for the fitting.

It was getting dark so he stopped looking after these 2 leaks. Will finish testing all the fittings tomorrow hopefully just these 2 leaks
    Any and all advise appreciated.

My wife, Sandy is interested in going to these events and also in car pooling. She is shy so will need a little coaxing. See everyone in a couple weeks.

I will have our 4 door jeep so i can take 3-4 (depends on how close the back seat passengers are comfortable with ).  The winery is nice and she will enjoy the strawberry market.

  7. Look at Talin RV in Florida. He is a Monaco owner and owner of Talin RV, he created a system called guardian plate for the Monaco’s that do this. Which is pretty much all of us original (2009 and earlier ) as there was a design flaw that allows water intrusion in our slides.

at the Monacoers gathering this past week he gave a seminar on it. They are a great source of info regarding the issue abs ensuring you fix it not just patch it

Once a year we host a gathering for Monaco and related coaches (although several attend who have Some Other Brand) that focuses on maintenance, problems common to Monaco products, and upgrades. It’s held in Tampa, FL in February each year.

There have been gatherings held in other places, but that was before my time.

The other event that Stacy is referring to is the Ramblin’ Pusher’s Maintenance Session in Goshen, IN beginning 4/28 and ending 5/5. More information is available at

    http://www.ramblinpushers.org/index.php/links

It will be posted on our calendar in the next several days, as will other FMCA and Monaco related events.

Thank you that was the other event I had seen before but could not recall the name of

  9. This is our first one so I am far from an expert but everyone told us when we got our Monaco last year one should attend an event if you can. This one is in Seffner FL (almost Tampa ).  I hear there are others one in Indiana coming up. Again I’m far from an expert I’m sure others can tell you more.

  10. I agree hiding the module was smart on their part, it was the manufacturer that said the 99% likely hood....i agree probably to high of a guestimate.

Talked with Vision RV yesterday they dont have it and the used on on ebay is sold already, i have called 5 places now that i have found on the internet...everyone is out...i did find one on ebay for $658...its a $211 part from REV, not that desperate....YET.

  11. Clock Spring replacement on our VIP smart wheel, 2006 Camelot 42DSQ

While it did NOT help the issue we were having (No wipers, no cruise) I did document the entire process, video is just over 19 minutes. While it took longer then 19 minutes to complete the repair, had i been able to find a video for a Class A I think I could have save a lot of time. Spent the first 2 hours trying to figure out how to get the cover off the steering wheel. What do you know it pulls off no 5MM hex like the instructions said.  the Manufacture told us 99% with our symptoms it is the clock spring....lucky us we are the 1%, our control hub has corrosion on it and is bad, sourcing it now....   our the smart hub was well hidden under lots of wire bundles and hoses in our dash behind the radio (never could find it to do the full test so we just went with the repair the manufacturer said is 99% of the time is).

On a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being professional level I would say this is a 6. (had I been able to find a video like this might have been a 4).

Hope this helps someone, I am not even close to a mechanic but with RV dealers being booked out 4 months and wanting $1000 to do anything I thought I would give it a shot. Turns our our control module is bad, and very hard to source. I will post updates when I get that working.

Feel free to share my video link it is public and meant to help others with a Class A RV and no clue what to do.

The pressure sensor they try to sell you is more than $200 overpriced and it is not what you need anyway. Incredible markup.

i know right...what the mark up!  when he tried to close me with shall i ship it now, i was like, umm i will have the shop order it, i dont know their address 🙂

The sending unit is no more than a variable resister with one end connected to ground through the sensing unit and the there end connected to the insulated terminal on the sending unit which is connected to the "S" terminal on the analogue gauge.

The only way that the analogue gauge could read backward would be if the polarity would have to been reversed on the gauge,  This could have happen when they were troubleshooting the problem.

Also make sure that the pointer on analogue gauge is position on the correct side of the mechanical stop on the gauge face. When I was changing the oil pressure sending unit on my coach I had the pointer jump to the wrong side of the mechanical stop and the pointer couldn't move.  I had to drill a small hole in the back of the instrument and flip the pointer on the opposite of the mechanical stop.

sent the shop your suggestion and they said that was impossible to happen since is a one wire sending unit....back to on hold with rev

  13. 2006 Monaco Camelot 42DSQ

new to us as of may this year and the dealer (National Indoor) said here is the part for the front (TOP) air pressure gauge, it is easy you can replace it yourself...  Part 360004

Have it being serviced at a Diesel shop and they put it in and now it works but is reading backwards...they tried the wires both ways.  Shop says they have switches that can be senders and receivers, he is sure we have a wrong part....

Called REV group 1.5 hours on hold they come back and say it is part # 10102659 and they have it in stock, i pull it up on their site while on the phone and that part says oil sender and looks nothing like our original one (which is attached to this).  I asked about the difference in the type of switch and his reply was...YEAH I KNOW BUT THAT IS IT.

      https://parts.revgroup.com/item-detail?itemId=474228&organizationId=9

Only marking on the original part is a # 7437 (you can see it in the photo)

Ideas anyone, REV is at lunch now and I really hate to hold for 1.5 hours again.

  14. we just purchased our 2006 Camelot 42dsq, they were asking over retail but they (dealer) were having a hard time selling it because it was over 100k and everyone wanting it needed to finance it and their loans were requiring 30% or more down which all didn't have, we paid cash and got it below retail.  Sat for 2 months on their lot, they had it under contract 5 times before we came along with cash.....so if you can find a cash buyer or one with lots of $$'s down you can get what ever your ask is.  We sold our 2001 National Dolphin (gasser) for 14k over NADA, but it was a cash buyer and we had done a ton to it and it was mint, keep in mind this one was $28k so easier to get that kind of cash buyer vs $100k or more cash buyer
