  1. I use Visible in an iPhone connected to a GL.inet GL-AR750S mobile wireless router that i connect everything to in my RV. This has worked quite well overall though I do get a lot of drop outs and hanging connections... So I did a lot more research and found that boosters really only help uploads in general which won't cure my problem. A solution presented itself through further research and I have ordered a Netgear Nighthawk M1 for two reasons... If you look on youtube you can find instructions to allow it to use a Visible SIM, and most importantly, you can connect a double antenna to it which significantly improves download connectivity, so you can buy MIMO antennas. I ordered a cheap one initially and I bought a used Nighthawk for $150. A more elaborate antenna would be this one... https://www.amazon.com/Periodic-Antenna-Waveform-600-6000-Boosters/dp/B095JB5BWY/ref=sr_1_19?keywords=external+antenna+for+rv&qid=1636998401&qsid=147-9756269-3765250&sr=8-19&sres=B00DN3J03O%2CB07R8WB2ZD%2CB07YGPDPW8%2CB0076CH4B8%2CB07HB9Y8S7%2CB088FBV6HF%2CB082SHKT3Q%2CB074YDSKFN%2CB08PCDDG8J%2CB07ZPPJM55%2CB07JN6FNZ4%2CB07R9JGLV5%2CB08ZT1BR4J%2CB095JB5BWY%2CB07MG6ZXCD%2CB07BQ44CW1&srpt=ANTENNA If you don't mind spending a couple of hundred bucks on an antenna then that's probably your best bet. The upside of all this is that you can still get away with paying between $25 and $40 per month for your internet connection, and using the Netgear Nighthawk you aren't restricted to only one connected device in your RV. I'm still waiting for delivery so cannot yet comment on performance, but i did a lot of research around the subject and am pretty sure this is going to work well for me.
  2. I don't bother with satellite. I use a Roku on my bedroom TV and run everything off a small wireless GL-AR750S router that's situated in the front of the coach. I can connect to wifi from quite a distance outside on my iPad. There's also another TV right in the front that has a firestick connection. The GL.iNet router costs about $55 on Amazon and the Roku and Firestick are about $25 each. I link to Visible (unlimited data for $40/month) hotspot on my iPhone that I use exclusively for data. It's not very fast but it is fast enough for me to watch movies. If you want faster than that it will cost you a hell of a lot more.
  3. I bought my 2004 HR Neptune with no inverter. It used to have a Xantrex and the interior control panel is still in place. There are so many different inverters available now. I was recommended a 2000 W Magnum, though it is over $1,800 yet I see many different ones from around $300 upwards. Yeah, well I guess you get what you pay for. I see many different Xantrex inverters and wonder if the old wires that are still in place would be more straight forward to fit and also use the old control panel. But of course the control panel would be from 2004 and perhaps I need to modernize the whole system. I'd like to link solar panels too, but don't know if that would have any effect on deciding which inverter to buy. Has anyone here replaced their inverter who could offer some advice. Electrical work is a bit of a mystery to me so I may just have to get if fitted by professionals, though it would be good for me to know what to do and how to do it, so I may just tackle this and hope i don't blow myself up in the process.
  4. ...Thanks Woody, that gives me more faith in this contraption. Who knows, maybe I'll customize it one day if i feel the 300hp Cummins is good enough.
  5. I never imagined these things could be so complicated. When I lived in the UK I had a home conversion Mercedes RV similar, though a little bigger than the one in the pic. I never had to do anything to it except empty the cassette toilet. Bliss! This is certainly a steep learning curve. That Mercedes took me from North West Scotland (Isle of Skye) to southern Spain and back several times. The only problem I ever had was a blown tire. I eventually sold it for more than I paid. That'll be hard to achieve with the Monaco - lol.
  6. Thanks again guys. 2 recommendations for Elite in Harrisburg... I'll give them a shout. I also sent an email to Brian Van De Walker. I'll do what I can personally but get the electrical done by the experts.
  7. I just read in the owners manual that if there is water in the bottom of the fuel tank then the fuel gauge will read maximum (over the full mark) and stay there. This is what's happening on my fuel gauge. The guy I bought it off told me that sometimes it reads correctly. I'm thinking that that might used to have been the case but in time more water has got into the tank. I'm arranging for the tank to be drained and will report back my findings. The manual also stated that 90% of senders that are returned to the manufacturer show no faults when bench tested.
  8. Thanks guys. It's the electrical stuff that worries me... I don't want to set the whole thing on fire, so I'll look for professional help for that. I'm currently living in Ashland, Oregon. If there was a specialist nearby that would be good but have been advised to take it to Eugene. JD, do you have contact info for Brian in Coburg Or?
  9. I bought my 2004 Holiday Rambler Neptune from an elderly gentleman a month ago. If I wasn't in such a hurry to find somewhere to live after selling my house (I only had 6 days to move out) I would have given this MH a wide berth. But I was totally green and now I have a huge learning curve. Practically everything has been left half done and a lot of parts have either been removed or are not working properly. Norco fridge doesn't run on AC despite AC being available. The inverter was removed and replaced by a converter. The Central Vacuum was removed. Ice-maker removed. No flexible soil pipe. Generator doesn't run. Fuel gauge not working. One of the leveling jacks was jammed so I replaced it with a new one. Solar panel doesn't do anything. The exhaust brake doesn't seem to function, drivers windshield is cracked, Etc etc. AAARRRRGGGHHHHH! The bit I am currently concerned with... The four house batteries took 1.5 gallons of distilled water to top up, so I guess they need replacing... which leads me to the battery compartment. It is a total nightmare with disconnected wires everywhere and odd wires simply cut off and left. The guy just gave up half way through jobs and I have no idea where all these spurious wires are supposed to connect. There are a bunch of heavy duty wires left unconnected in the inverter compartment so I guess they will be needed if I buy a new inverter. So... I have been advised to drive the MH to Eugene in Oregon to find some place where they would know where things go and buy some new parts. Can anyone recommend a company I can take it to to try and sort out this mess, Since that is where Monaco were originally based? I think the first thing will be for me to buy a new inverter, house batteries and solar panel/s. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated. (PS. I paid $33,500 which I thought at the time was a bargain. Was I had?)
  10. I have to replace the driver's side windshield as there is a large crack in it. I'm currently in Ashland, Oregon. Does anyone have recommendation for windshield replacement in Southern Oregon, possibly Medford area? It's for my 2004 Holiday Rambler Neptune. Also I need to get my wheels aligned and the tires checked. Or is it best for me to drive 180 miles to Eugene and another 180 miles back? (Sorry for the newbie question... it's a steep learning curve.) Thanks,
  11. Thanks Harvey. I followed Bob's advice and found the fault code to be 24 which corresponds to a sensor circuit being either open or shorted. I've informed my mechanic and will take the RV back to him next week to check. I have the wiring diagram so we should be able to find out the cause. RE fuel level, I don't want to put any more fuel in it until we've sorted the fuel tank sender out. I don't know what it involves to replace that but I suspect that removing the old sensor from a full fuel tank would be problematic.
  12. Thanks everyone for your helpful advice, and thank you Cathy for the fuel sensor link. Norman
  13. Yes, the photo of the fuel gauge above was taken with the engine off. It doesn't move from that position at all. The guy who sold me the MH said that sometimes it works, but since I have had it there has been no change. Re the generator not starting, I turned on the ignition and pressed the lower end of the button a few times with no reaction, then it blinked 3 times and went off. When I press the top part of the button to start, nothing at all happens.
  14. Holiday Rambler Neptune 2004 I had a mechanic check why my fuel gauge isn't working. He says that both the sender and the gauge in the dash are bad. Does anyone know where I can find a sender unit and possibly a replacement gauge? I need the sender unit but I could fit an after market gauge if necessary. Also the generator doesn't start though it did start when I bought the coach last month. I wonder if it uses a separate battery from the chassis batteries. I'm a total newbie trying to find out the ins and outs of this machine. Thanks guys. Norman
  15. That would be fantastic thanks Ken if you manage to find them. I'd be more than happy to pay postage. Let me know how much and if you have Venmo or CashApp for payment. I only need one. Thank you, Norman
  16. I contacted Carefree of Colorado to try to find a replacement for my broken awning mount (on my Holiday Rambler Neptune 2004). I have received no reply. Does anyone know where I can get one from or if you happen to know the part number? The awning model is BN3N4 according to the sticker on the arm. (see photo) There are two photos of the one which isn't broken and two photos of the one that is broken. Many thanks.
