  1. Hi Larry,

I have an 02 Diplomat as well and all my bay lights are controled by the switch next to the passenger seat.

Check your wet bay also, when you open the right hand wet bay door your storage bay light should lite as well as the Left hand wet bay compartment light.

There is a switch in the upper right of the wet bay door that controls the lights when you open the bay door. check that switch mine had rusted and was not working, was able to clean it up and lube it but have heard that some have had to change out the switch. It is a plunger type switch that we had on our older cars that turned on the dome light.

If those are working then I would say the power is good if not I would be looking for a bad fuse.

  2. This year I averaged 8.6 round trip Fl to Vt and back towing my 2020 Ranger.
it is not the mpg but the cost!
3600 miles/8.6 is about 420 gallons of diesel X $5.59 average  equals roughly

    $2300.00 round trip

if prices don’t come down I doubt I will do that again next year . Maybe some short trips in Fl

  3. Either the Mag or the capacitor has died.

you can’t test the Mag . the capacitor you can check by testing continuity in both directions by reversing the leads on your meter should read low in one direction and
high in the other direction and going lower . That would indicate a possible good cap.

Make sure you short both terminals of the cap with a screwdriver first just to be safe they hold a pretty good charge. Also it goes without saying “ unplug the beast first” be careful.
Like Ray said the Mag is expensive to replace and you get new technology with a new oven.

  4. Looks like your Grey is full

    Black (Holding) is 2/3

As a rule of thumb these are not all that accurate. My black tank usually reads full even after dumping and flushing and after a day or so will read empty just depends on how much sludge is covering the sensor.

Cliff, typically the spring is in the right end when looking at the roller tube. I always remove the left end to replace the straps, I don't have to deal with the spring at that end. I drill out the two aluminum pop-rivets, take a couple of small screws out and pull the end off just enough to get the old straps off and the new ones slid in.

Thanks Richard that’s exactly what I needed to know.

    Thanks all for your assistance

Are we talking about just window awnings or are these the Omega I Slide Combo Topper/Awning's?

    The slide topper combo

you can get the hold down straps on amazon measure the ones you take off and there is a notch in the track that you remove the old and slide in the new should be a screw that keeps it in place

I have the new straps, but the end caps have no slot

  7. Has anyone had to replace the hold down straps for the window shade feature on the slide out awnings?

I am looking for some instructions and I have looked at the Carefree website and my best guess is that the awnings I have are of the obsolete kind and I can not find service instructions anywhere.

I might start from the beginning, I bought this 2002 Diplomat coach from the original owner who used it to go from point A to point B and it was garaged at both ends. That being said he never used the pull down window shade feature on the slides, but the ends of the straps were always exposed and just kind of fell apart when I first tried to use them.

I have to replace the two hold down straps and need to know which end sprocket to remove to accomplish this. I am sure at least one end is attached to the spring and that is the end I want to avoid taking loose. I do have the replacement straps.

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Thanks

    Cliff
