Lights Flashing on 3 Switch Multiplex Module (Eaton eSM E30) -2010 Monaco Dynasty

One of the 3 Switch Multiplex Modules has an issue. The particular module (Bay Lights, Battery Cutoff, Ceiling Lights) is an Expansion Module located in the second to the last position in a string of modules. When I remove the bad module from the string of modules by removing the output wire from the preceding module and connect the last module. The last module (Step Cover, Ceiling Lights, blank) works fine.

The particular module's (Bay Lights, Battery Cutoff, Ceiling Lights) LED lights flash erratically.

Do you think it may just need to be reprogrammed?

I've attached some pictures to illustrate.

In almost all cases the problem is with a loose connector on the flashing module.  Make sure the connector is well seated.  If that doesn't work, try swapping cables to isolate the bad female connector.  If you are handy, you can remove and replace the female pins.  If it's the actual switch module, yes they can be repaired and reprogrammed - send me a PM.

Thanks Frank! I bet it IS the pins. The module looks like it's been replaced before. It looks newer and had a green sticker on the side with the part number. This was unlike the other modules I've seen in the coach. I'm probably the third person to look at this. When I started the input connector had been removed which rendered dead the last two modules. On the connector that had been removed the plastic looked kind of gnarly like it had been futzed with (plyers, mouse, ???).

I'll report back. Thanks again, you're awesome!!

I do have spare OEM connectors and female pins.  So that's also and option.

Yes the module with the green sticker is a REV replacement module.

The wires in the link below use the same size connector pins that are on the switch modules.  Yes you only need 4 female to female wires but they sure come in handy at least for me.

Clark, I forgot to mention - welcome to Monacoers.org.  I think you will find a lot of very useful information on the forums and a wealth of information in our Download files including our parts list, technical tips and wiring diagrams.

If you want to know a bit about my experience with a Kongsberg CCM chassis multiplex coach system, read this thread. Pages 11 & 12 are basically the conclusion of how a system hit by lightning was brought back to life.

That is extremally impressive! :classic_ohmy: I used to repair consumer electronics in the '80s but when SMDs came out I found another career. :classic_biggrin:  You are to be commended!

I'm headed over to the Coach today. I'm going the swap the modules around to determine for sure if it's the module or wiring. As discussed I'm pretty sure it's the wiring. I looked at the pictures and it looks like the plastic release on the connector has been broken off so there was probably a lot of stress put on those connectors. Thanks again you are truly a blessing!!!!

I have attached a picture of the connector, but I can say definitively it’s not the wire or connector.

I moved the module in question to the last position in the string. That module doesn’t work in that position, whereas the other module does.
I move the module that does work into the position wiring wise such that I was testing all the wires in question that had been connected to the module in question. The Good module worked in that location.

I hope that makes sense.

So we have a bad module. I’ll private message you.
