  1. Like the others have said...  undo the latches and make sure you are pulling up on the part that actually moves.  On mine there is a storage compartment in front that does not come up.  It might help having someone lift on each side, but mine opens from just one side.  Take a picture if you don't figure it out.

  2. Charles, frankly the electrical on these things has baffled me and I've never really understood much of it.  That picture looks just like mine, so I don't really know if its a transfer switch, box or a relay.  HaHa.  Also, I think the inverter I put in says its got a transfer switch too.  All I know is when I plug things in... they work.

  3. Good luck and happy motoring. Sometimes even bad weather and difficulties can be fun.  Just returned from a 5 day boondock at Bristol with pretty much constant rain, flooding and high winds.  Had a blast and ended up watching the NASCAR race on TV at home because it was delayed.

  4. Hey Charles,  I used an Aim pure sine wave 2000 watt inverter when I replaced my Heart Freedom 2000.  All the transfer switches, etc worked just like before the switch.  Battery performance seems to be much better.  Just got back from a 4 day boon dock and only ran the gen to charge about 6 hours per day.

  5. Same as most everyone else.  My Interstate chassis battery was put in service Feb 2012.  I do keep a trickle charger/conditioner on it when I'm not camping.  I'm getting ready for a short trip up to Bristol for some dirt racing and I've noticed it might be fading a bit.  If it was more than a hour drive I'd replace it now, but I'm going to try and see if it just needs some time with the engine running to charge it up fully.

  6. I put one on many years ago.  At least I think that is what you mean.  It is a propane hook up so I can run a propane grill, smoker and/or patio heater off the coaches large propane tank?  It works great and very nice to have.  Just be prepared to spend a small fortune on hoses and tees if you run something like I do.  After a couple years the hoses start to wear and need to be replaced.  Also, be careful when you screw the fittings on as it is pretty easy to cross thread.

  7. Hey, I'm going to piggy back onto this post.  I also need a fridge part.  I have a dometic RM7030 which is a side by side and I need the door latches.  This is on a 95 model so Dometic and all the parts/salvage places don't have them.  If by some miracle someone has one or knows of a place that does, please let me know.  Thanks,  Jim

  8. If you really need something fairly small and portable rather than the testing tools already mentioned, one of those rechargeable 12v batteries for a cordless tool will work.  Something like a DeWalt drill, etc...  you just have to fashion some type of connection leads for it.  It seems like a lot of those tools are going to much higher voltages now, but should be some 12 volts types still around.

  9. I think that is smart on your part, Bill.  I'm not afraid of a project and the cabinets would not be a concern at all to me.  I found a local cabinet maker a few years ago that replaced some cabinet faces for me, so while not cheap it is pretty easy to do.  Its those "unknown" things that keep you up at night.  At $80k it is not a deal.  There was one that sold not to long ago that was listed at $89K that I would certainly have looked at but it was in CA... 2000 miles away.  My plan is just to keep my eyes open for something that comes on the market that is reasonably close by.  Good luck to you in your search.

  10. If this is the one I've seen listed, it has a attractive price on it and I was told it was a repo which is why the prior owner took all the stuff out/off of it.  The guy I talked to was so uneducated about RV's that I passed.  I asked him for tire codes and he said they have lots of tread left...  If I was going to consider it, don't rely on anything the current owners say, do all your own research/inspection and build in a huge fudge factor for an angry repo.  He also said there were no service records and I'd assume if you can't make the payments on one....  you can't afford to service it either.
