  1. That D+ is just from the chassis battery side of the charging system. The DC to DC just regulates the amp draw from the alternator so it doesn’t overheat. I had one of those on my fifth wheel before I got my coach. Now I’m using a Victron DC to DC to charge my lithium batteries as I drive. You can connect it anywhere as long as the wire size is able to handle the amperage on either side of your charger.

Also I believe the renogey has a charging trigger wire so that it only charges while the engine is running. The Victron is auto sensing.

  2. Well after reading this and trying figure out a replacement plan it looks like I’ll be getting two new penguins. My reversing valve is stuck and I’ve replaced the solenoid with no joy. My question is where is the best place to purchase them?

I have 2-13.5k btu heat pumps and want to get the 15k btu penguin II heat pumps to replace them. I realize I will have to replace the thermostat too. Prices are all over the place and I’m worried if I find a cheap outlet I might be getting returns or seconds.

Hi Mark,  I'm pretty old also but I'm interested in this "stream bar" too.   Since ROKU & others need a good internet connection I'm wondering what you use for internet in the coach?   Are very many parks able to provide internet that you can live stream or are you able to use a cell phone service?

Ray, I’m like Jim and use a mobile hotspot. Mine is an iPad on Verizon. It works well enough to stream just about anywhere but there have been a few places l Had to use the parks WiFi with limited success. Most parks are ok during the week but on the weekends it’s to slow and buffers. I mostly watch YouTube but I have YouTube TV for live sports, it’s just as bad as cable 100 channels and nothing on. The good thing about it is you can cancel it any time if it doesn’t work out. I have T-Moble at both of my houses, works great at one not so much at the other ($50/mo each). My cell phone is with ATT so I have options but it’s limited on data. My iPad is for work and on an unlimited plan so I’m lucky in that respect for now until I retire.

  4. John, they get TV from the internet and put it on your TV. You have to have an internet source or provider from the park or you phone. The stream bar also has speakers built into it. Hence stream + Sound bar= stream bar. Go to Roku.com

  5. Rick, I'm having an issue with mine as well. Essex makes the entry systems about a mile from me. I contacted them and they refereed me to a distributor. I may just pay them a visit. Mine got wet during the recent storms and was beeping continuously. I had to unplug the key pad to make it stop. Removing the fuses and reinstalling them did nothing for me either. Bad news is they are about $300, can't find just the keypad. Anyone have a better option?

Please tell us what make & model of AGS you have, and how it connects to the generator.  I have the Victron Multiplus with “AGS built in”, but it cannot work with Onan generators.

The Xantrex Automatic Generator Start - 809-0915 replaced the built in unit of my old RV2012. It was a direct replacement for the existing system. It works over the Xanbus network and has multiple I/O and starts and stops my Onan 7500. It is programed and controlled using the Xantrex Xanbus System Control Panel (SCP) Freedom SW3012 - 809-0921. I just mounted it under my transfer switch because that's where the wires to the generator were located. Not sure if that helps with your issue with the Victron.

Looks Great! Where is your inverter and which one do you have?

Zantrex Freedom SW3012, mounted inside behind the cord real and water heater. My solar controller, transfer switch and auto gen start are in there too.

I would do some things differently if I had to do it again. I would have used a Victron multi plus II (not out yet when I installed) and maybe cheaper batteries, even though I got the Battleborn on sale. I also have 700 watts of solar and a residential refrigerator. It's been worth the upgrades IMO.
