Repeating what you posted for clarity, you have a Micro Air 357 that is functional on both your original Penguin units….which have the original CC MPX control system.   Dometic says you need the Conversion kit to “dumb down” the new Penguin II, so that it works with the CC (original) MPX….then once properly installed, the rear unit, which now is a CC MPX control system, a 5 button CC MPX Dometic thermostat will control the new “dumbed down” Penguin II and an original Penguin. It may be that Micro Air is confused??

Dometic gave no other option other than to say the new Penguin II was only compatible with the 10 button thermostat.  Below is MicroAirs initial response:  "When you have our 357 thermostat and switch AC units requiring the 350, you are in luck. We can reflash the 357 to make it work for your new needs."

Then when I asked for clarification, I got this response from someone else there:  "Just replace the board in the new AC unit with your old board. No other changes are needed. The replacement is only for people replacing both with new control boards."

So that leaves me more confused than when I started!

  2. The rear Penguin on our 2004 Windsor no longer functions on heat or a/c, I think it's the reversing valve itself.

I'd like to replace it with the Penguin II.  We still have the original Penguin in the front of the coach and are using a Micro Air 357 thermostat.  (FYI gas furnace, only two zones)

Micro Air says I need to put the old control board in the new a/c and nothing further should be required.  They said I only need to send them the thermostat to be reflashed if I was replacing both front and rear units with the new style.

    Is that information correct?

If I am reading the other threads on the this topic correctly, I'll want to hold onto the new controller that I swap out because when I replace the front a/c unit then I will want to put that new controller back in and have the Micro Air 357 reflashed?  Just want to make sure I'm correct on that thinking!?  Obviously it would be ideal just to replace both units at the same time but that's not in the cards right now.

    Thanks!

Don, where are you located?  We have a guy here in Oregon who was a former employee of Monaco in Junction City, Oregon.  He knows these coaches inside and out. He makes furniture, installs carpet, etc, etc, etc.  His business is called Amazing Creations, he's on the Internet, his name is Scott Adams.

Can vouch for Scott. I've known him for years and he does great work.  He recently made a cabinet door for my 2004 Windsor when I did the TV delete and it's a fantastic match, right down to aging the wood in the sunlight.  They also have a full upholstery shop there.

have a 2004 Monaco Windsor Twilight and I have the paint codes provided by the Monaco Paint Manager at the time.. The paint colours are from Basf

I tried to attach the document but got this search line that I do not think works.

If your email me at "dstirvine@gmail.com" I will reply with the attachment.

  5. Had a scary occurrence yesterday with our 04 Windsor.  Running on a flat road about 15 miles into our trip.  Smelled hot brakes, pulled over and could feel front left wheel was fairly warm.  Drove another two miles without touching the brake to get to a safe spot.  Pulled over and left front brake is smoking and bursts into small flames.  I was able to put it out quickly and spent the next 8 hours waiting for a tow truck to tow us 16 miles to the shop.  This will be expensive but it could have been much, much worse!

Interested to know more about those Meritor helper springs?

  6. Has the compressor been replaced?  I spent many years working on RV chassis and the a/c compressor is a common source of leaks and a tough one to spot.  I think when under pressure or vacuum the shaft seal may hold but then leaks out as the compressor cycles.  If the bearings are worn you will get compressor vibration which could lead to leaking.  I'd zero in on that compressor.

  7. For months I've been hearing a couple soft beeps in our coach.  The other day I was standing in the step well and heard the beeps coming from the keypad area.  When I pushed the keypad buttons it's the same beep.

Our keypad has never worked although the key fobs work fine.

Wondering if this has had anything to do with the couple of phantom lockouts we've experienced?

Has anyone had this happen to them and should I just unplug the keypad?  I don't want to lose the use of the key fobs.

    Thanks!

Your parking brakes work on your rear axle. If you raise the rear wheels up, what is keeping your rig from rolling back?

Get some blocking under them to stand on and then you will be safe.

So by that theory you can never use a floor jack to lift your coach?  The levelers are providing the fixed contact to the ground, same as a jack stand would do.

  9. Has anyone experienced the keyless entry system locking the coach on it's own before?  Over the weekend I went out to my 04 Windsor and the door handle and compartments were all locked (they never are at home).  I dug out the hidden key and got in the coach.  They two key fobs normally live in the cabinet over the door so I thought maybe I accidentally hit one of them rummaging in the cabinet.

I unlocked the coach and went on about my business.

Two days later I go out and the coach is locked again!  Both door handle and the compartments.

Coach is plugged in and chassis batteries are charged so I'm ruling out low voltage.  Also ruled the wife out, she wasn't anywhere near the coach.  The exterior keypad has never worked.

This time I brought the key fobs in the house and I'll monitor the coach over the next few days.

Any suggestions?  The fob batteries were new last summer but I'll replace them just to be safe.

  10. I recently went down this road.  Supposedly Dexron 6 is backwards compatible in transmission applications but not necessarily in hydraulic applications.  I didn't want to risk it and found that Dexron III is still readily available at most parts houses and tractor supply companies.  I found mine at Carquest for $80/5 gal of Dexron III/Mercon.  Walmart also carries Dexron III in gallon jugs.

  11. Just a PSA:

I went through and pulled all the compartment door latch access panels and gave everything a good lubing with TriFlow.  Also did the entry door handle and deadbolt.  Man, what a difference that made in ease of operation.  No more having to hold the compartment door handle open when closing it.  Now I can close the comp door in one movement and it latches.  My entry door takes half the effort to open now!

    That is all. 😄

The bidet is easy, cheap, and an awesome upgrade. I put three of the high end ones them my home (wwwBidetKing.com) when COVID first hit, as many viruses are transmitted and shed by (wait for it…) .feces. People who have bidets will tell you they would never go back.

My RV setup not as friendly as a heated water bidet in cool/cold weather (to be sure), BUT, there is a similar model at Lowes with both hot and cold water connections.

That seems overly complicated.  I have a BioBidet at home and it heats the water within the unit, only requiring a cold water connection and a 110V plug.  In addition you get a heated seat which is wonderful!

  13. Picture would help, but if it's like mine there was a face frame, then a couple screws up from the bottom of the cabinet and a restraining strap at the back of the TV.  You'll have to contort yourself between the dash and windshield to get to it.

Have someone to help because they are extremely heavy.
