  1. Following the installation of the recliner/theater seat post, it became apparent we were going to need the TV right across from the seats.  When we find a decent replacement for the J-sofa we will install a TV lift behind the sofa.  Until now, I built a shelf that slips over the window box.  TV is secured to the shelf so the whole thing can be put in the closet if we want to use the j-sofa bed.  It's very solid and I used a piece of 3/4" PVC down from the upper cabinet to keep the TV from tipping forward.  I also ran two HDMI cords through the upper cabinets and installed an HDMI outlet under the cabinet.  It's not the ultimate solution but it will work great for now.

  2. I've noticed a loud clunk that is heard and felt from the rear of the coach.  It's intermittent and rare but when it does happen it seems to be when climbing a hill and you let off then go back on the throttle.  I don't think it's a hard shift...I'm well versed in the Allison hard shifts!  Maybe more like a driveline issue or something in the suspension loading up then slamming?

Has anyone experienced anything like this with the Roadmaster Chassis?  2004 Windsor 40PKD with 16,000 miles.

  3. The chair overhangs the edge of the slide floor about 14".  Since that's the heaviest part of the chair I wanted to have solid support so I welded together a frame of 1 1/4 angle iron that was 54" wide by 38" deep then laid in 5/8" plywood inside the frame.  I used the elevator bolts that held the seatbelts to secure the platform to the slide floor and added a couple lag screws into the slide room floor.  It's extremely solid and I don't think even with the new chairs and platform that it's as heavy as that Villa sleeper sofa.

It is an exit window behind the chairs but it can still be accessed as well as when the couch was there.  That's a pretty short exit window!

The TV is still in the front but we do plan on putting a TV on a lift behind the J-sofa directly across from the new sofa.

I did add an outlet at the bottom of the galley base cabinet so I didn't have to run the power cord for the new seat up the wall to the upper cabinet.

  4. The backs come off and the bases are narrow enough to fit through the door.  We have the narrow front door and the huge passenger seat and I was able to carry it up and through the door by myself.   I think the base was about 25" high.  They are purpose built RV furniture from their Thomas Payne collection.

  5. The the seats I ordered from Lippert before Thanksgiving finally showed yesterday.  Couldn't wait to get these bad boys in and perfect timing as we are heading out next week for a short jaunt.  The articulating tablet holders didn't show up with the order and Lippert is closed even though their site says they are open Saturdays.  Also no documentation with the seats and it took awhile to sort out the various electrical plugs but so far they seem of good quality and have nice features like heated seats, massager, power recline and headrest and lots of lighting.

My wife used Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Pads on the front dash, etc. It really whitened the dash up considerably. We had our seats recovered in HD Marine Vinyl, so we use a good vinyl cleaner.

Be really careful with the magic erasers.  They are just very fine sandpaper.  I used one on my leather car seat in a test spot and it immediately took the finish off.

  7. Too cold out to tell if it's cooling or not although it worked fine over the summer and the heat portion was working fine up until a few weeks ago.

I did find a manual to download so now I'll do some troubleshooting.  Looks like the reversing valve, solenoid or ambient temp sensor could all be suspects.

If it is the valve itself, rather than just the solenoid is it general consensus that it would be better to replace the whole unit?

So, I didn't get this posted last night...

Here is loveseat installed. The opening between cabinets and slide wall is about 74" and the loveseat is about 72". The loveseat is from a "Chesapeake Collection". Sorry, I can't tell you more about the manufacturer, but as you can see, 72 inchers are available. The loveseat has a steel frame under it, just like the RecPro one removed so I used the same brace and bolt mechanism to hold it down. And since the loveseat is located on a raised floor slide I am using some Amazon supplied rollers in the front to take some of the weight when the recliners are used. Here is an installed picture and an Amazon URL for the rollers.

That's really nice and pretty much the same layout we have.  What do you have across from the seats.  When the chairs are reclined can you still walk past to the cab area?

  9. You must be reading my mind.  My wife are enjoying a few days off on the Oregon coast and I had just suggested that we swap out our uncomfortable sofa for recliners and put a TV lift behind the j-lounger!  Fortunately we don't have a slide to contend with so it should be relatively easy.
