Bob, that actually would be a great little unit that would do everything I would need.  It does have an external video input so I wouldn't even need to use the camera input for the Aladdin.  I haven't gotten into the dash yet but I assume the Aladdin input is a standard rca jack.  I am shying away from the pop up for obvious reasons.  I wish I could just keep it out.  But the POC I have now folds in when you hit the power button.  I want to stream from my phone too...

I did not have a Sony, so I hope there won't be any speaker plug to rig.  One of the reasons I dont buy Sony anymore.  I'll definitely see if there was a new model.

Below is my dash.  The "detachable face" detached itself right onto the floor because the plastic had deteriorated and crumbled over the winter.  Why does it need a detachable face?  The top screen is my external Garmin, it plugs in to a cigarette lighter. I use that cause it has free updates forever.  I just have it sitting there for the pic.  Then below that the broke chinese Lanzar POC, and then the sony camera monitor.

    Hey John,

That you for all the pics.

Thank you for all the pics.  That is extremely helpful.  Im not worried about the rear camera at the moment.  It will stay on the Sony monitor for now.  What I am curious about is if I can put the Aladdin display on that head.  I see you have a dedicated screen for yours. That would be the best thing.  So if I can select the alladin screen on the Boss, this may work.

Please see my dash on the above post.

Yes, you should be able to trick the Boss unit with a switch, so it thinks you want the backup camera, which there is a video input on the unit.  There are also secondary video inputs, front camera and AV input.  I am sure one or all would work.  Thinking about it, the AV input would probably be the easiest.  On the home screen, there is an Icon for the AV input.  I have attached the manual for my Boss unit.

Martin, I have used crutch field in the past, I will have to give them a call about this.  Unfortunately I dont think I can install it myself because I have never done it before.  I hate having to get a degree in everything with this coach just so I know when the "techs" are screwing stuff up.  I had an awful experience this summer and in fact I am on my way back to Shipshewana because the solar guy installed a battery charger for my chassis batteries on the same circuit as the a/c.  Guess what, now I can't run the a/c, on shore power!

Hey Chad thank you so much for the reply.  That is exactly what I am trying to find out.  My 2003 sig came with a separate Sony monitor for all the cameras albeit not in a very useful location.  I am not sure if I can do this install but I can follow colored wires, we'll see.

    Which one did you get?

    Hi Marine Boy,

I was looking at that one and the BE 7acp-SD too.  (Standard Definition?)

So can you get your Aladdin on screen by selecting the backup camera?  Did you hook up the Aladin feed to the backup camera input?  That would be perfect for what I want to do.  We have an iPhone and an android, they should be connected wirelessly I thought.  But honestly anything would work for me now.  Let me know OK?

So I am pretty sure that you should be able to get your cameras on the display.  BUT I am pretty sure that if you setup is original the rear camera is powered by the Sony display with 8 volts DC.   So to power that camera, I went on Amazon and for about $10 bought adjustable voltage reducer to take the 12vdc down to 8 Volts, which is working great.     I am not using the Boss for my cameras, as I had enough room for a 10" display in place of the Sony.

Most or all of the Boss units for Android Auto or Apple Play, only work with cable not Blue Tooth, which is fine with me since it keeps the phone charged, too.

I have attached some photos of my setup.   Fell free to call me if you have any questions.

  3. I recently installed a Boss BE10ACP.  So far I have traveled 3000 miles with it and love it.   Yes, it does have some reflection off the screen, but not as bad as some reviews state.  This unit should do everything you are looking to do.  I really like having Android Auto, even though it is wired only, no bluetooth.  As previous mentioned, Crutchfield is great to deal with and they should be able to help you and/or give you recommendations.  Great unit for the price.

I had a message from Tom and now that I reread my above post realize I wasn't very clear. The "they" I was referring to is the manufacturer Actia. I would reach out to them and see if they can help. This is the gentleman I talked to.  He also sent me my manual that I posted. I would also request the manual for your coach. He did tell me there are some parts that are not available and not repairable but luckily we're able to get mine repaired/ replaced.

I am traveling without my coach and plan on digging into it when I get back home.

  5. I have a 2006 Dynasty 42 Diamond IV, and my center dash gauge with has Engine Temp, Trans Temp, Fuel Gauge and Oil Pressure in it.  The top items, engine & trans temp quit working.   I am sure the engine data bus is still sending the info since I getting that info on my Silverleaf/Aladdin conversion display.   Has anyone had any luck with companies that test and service those original gauges?

  6. I have not seen anyone mention that the older Moen single handle shower valves also may have what Moen calls a Balancing Spool.  I have a 2006 Dynasty that has this Moen shower faucet and when I purchased my bus, the inspector didn't catch that there was no hot water in the shower.  The Balancing Spool is a separate non-adjustable valve that balances water flow between that hot and cold as pressure changes.   If you have a Moen faucet that has a Balancing Spool, I would change both the Cartridge and the Balancing Spool, just due to age.

Link to video on replacing a Balancing Spool Valve:

    Good luck.

  7. I don't know about the UNI, but I use the Florida "Sun-Pass Pro" transponder that has been release in the last year.  It works in all EZ-Pass states and a few more.  I just used it on a trip from Tampa to Oshkosh, WI and back, with no problems.  Including FL, IL, KY, WI, TN.  I also have used it from FL to Ohio.  Worked in FL, GA, NC, WV, OH.  It is $14.95 from the state of Florida.  You also get discounts on your fees.

NEVER use Cummings power south in Tampa.        Erased all of the codes in my ecm and then told me it was an Allison transmission problem.      $1400. At other shops to prove it.

take it to Cummings power south in Orlando.    And ask for victor to work on it.       Or take to Cummings freightliner in Haynes city

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for your input.  I completely understand it is all about the guys doing the work.

    Best, John

  9. I purchased first of the year, a 06 Dynasty with an ISL400 Cummins.  Did full maintenance right after purchase.  Just finished our first long trip with her, doing 2800 miles round trip to Oshkosh, WI from Tampa,  FL.  I didn't seem to have a power issue, but I would never report over a 50% load and I am getting good boost pressure.  I feel I need to find a good Cummins service center to put the computer on her and go for a test ride.

Ideas would be helpful, but I am really looking for a recommendation for a Cummins shop close to Tampa, FL.

    Thanks,

    John

  10. My 06 Dynasty has one bay with a factory roller tray and two that do not.  I got a quote from Slide-Master who makes a great product, but at a high price.  Has anyone seen a full dual direction storage trays in 23" and 24" width?   I have not been able to find any other options at a lower price??  I may just have to pay the price for quality.

    Thank for your input!

Maybe a stiff (but rotating) handle over the top so you can get into the cooler without clearing the tray?

And maybe an electric cooler . . .

    NICE!

    - bob

    Bob,

Thanks for your comments.  On the ability to remove the tray to get into the cooler, there is enough room with the cooler closer to the driver for it to sit on it's legs on the floor between the cooler and co-pilot seat.  I did consider the electric cooler, but decided to keep it simple.  We will find out if that was the best choice???

We are leaving on a 3000 mile round trip to Oshkosh, WI (EAA Convention if anyone is going) this Friday, so it will get a good test run for my new food/drink service tray.

  12. My 2006 Dynasty just didn't have good drink holders and/or a place to leave snacks while driving.  I couldn't find any products that I could just purchase.  So since I drive left handed, I needed a place to put my drink on my right while driving.  I wanted to share my solution which came out better than expected.  I found a Ozark Trail 26qt cooler from Walmart that was just under $100,  which has rubber feet on the bottom, so it doesn't slide around.  Then I made a service tray that sits firmly on the top of the cooler which we can put between the pilot and co-pilot seats and still walk between.  It took a little bit of getting every possible cup that I may come across to get the hole sizes right.  I added a drip rail to the food tray area.  I made it out of Polar with a satin clear coat.   I would love to hear your comments or ways I could have improved it.

  13. I just did my front brakes on my 2006 Dynasty at a professional shop.  There are a possibility of 3 different rotors.  The shop couldn't order them until they took it a part.  When they did, the rotors had to come from CA to FL.  I would not recommend to start the job until you can be without use of your bus for a few weeks, just incase you can't find parts.

  14. Hi Grandville,

I agree that the best solution is get a new power feed that I can turn on and off.   The Fuse for the Aladdin is in the engine bay.  The Aladdin reset switch which is just a break switch when activated and is the main power supply controller to the Aladdin ECM(behind dash) is in the overhead above the driver seat.  The wires from the reset switch go into the ceiling and disappear into never-never land.

Thank you all for all of the input on this topic.  My Aladdin system just failed and I am in the process of installing a Silverleaf replacement package for the Aladdin.  Not sure I made the best choice.  Will update this post when my install is complete.   Would love to hear any good or bad comments about my choice.

It has been a while since I posted about my project to install the Silverleaf Aladdin conversion in my 2006 Dynasty 42 Diamond IV.  Things got busy for me and the kit sat in a box for the last few months.  I finally found a little time and have almost completed the install, but I need a little help..    I have to say Silverleaf has been great answering my questions as I go.

My problem is that the power supplied out the the Monaco harness is about 13 volts until I hook up the Silverleaf ECM which drops the voltage down to 1.5 volts, which means a bad connection or bad fuse or....   It is definitely not a bad ground and there is no amperage draw.  The only fuse for the Aladdin system I could find is in the engine compartment passenger side and it is good and holding 13 volts.  Does anyone know of any other fuses for the system or a relay(which could be going bad) or the routing the power wires for the system.  I did find out that the power to the ECM is controlled by the Aladdin reset switch which is a brake circuit switch when the reset is pressed.    If I run a separate 12v wire to the Silverleaf ECM the system works fine.  I am beginning to believe that this low voltage is probably what fried Aladdin ECM.

Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  16. I wonder if anyone has tried to plumb in an extra tire pressure sensor, so you could keep an eye on the pressure at the dash??   Though an tire sensor may not like the pressure variances in the suspension?   I recently bought an 06 Dynasty 42 and am new to a large bus with a tag axle.  Learning a lot!!

  17. For those interested, I have attached the Silverleaf Aladdin upgrade info package, along with the pictures of the items that are in my kit.  Again, remember that there are differences from RV to RV, so what in is in my kit may not all be the same for yours.   You may notice that the controller attaches directly to the main control module "VMS350".  My understanding is that you can only have one controller and if you have a rear controller in your Aladdin system, it will be replaced with a push button to let you flip through your camera views.
