Do the paint shops in Mexico remove and reapply all of the caulking as part of the job?  Belt lines, slides, windows, vent panels, etc?

Putting together a list of questions. That was the #1 on the list. Were also going to see a person who had there's done so i can see the work in person.  Will let you know what I find out.

  2. Nope! Keep posting, you need to sound off & we need to hear how you are being treated.

Sometimes life's a bitch, sometimes life's just another day, right now life's a bitch!

    Read your GoFund me page.

I  will assume your speaking the truth.  I  don't trust dealerships & most mechanics. I  have to ask, was the starter bad? Did the mechanic bench test it when he got it out? Before putting on a new one starter thay better known the old one was dead! Way in hell would it would take $10,000 to pull turbo .  Then it's broken into while sitting on there lot. I  assume it's still there.  Time for that place to step up to the plate and work out a deal.

Society is going to hell in a handbasket. But all you have to do is read the bible, it tells us were we are going.

We will do what we can, and I  hope others will do the same.

    Heres our morning view.

Wow, I amazed at the wealth of knowledge this site has.  I just bought my FIRST Class A two months ago, '06 Monaco Windsor.  We love this coach and style along with how noticeably much better the quality is compared to others we were looking at.  I have been spending the last two months fixing things and this site has been invaluable in helping me.  It just so happens I noticed the trim (beltline?) under one of the slide out awnings has come loose on the underside.  See pic below.  I have placed a screw with washers on either side just to keep from getting worse.  I am not knowledgeable enough to know how it is attached, but the screws or fasteners underneath have rusted completely so I am assuming that is why it has come loose.  I went on the roof and saw where the caulking was bad on top of the awning retainer that would allow rain to get behind the trim.  So now to fix without a lot of cost.  Seems like there might be a video to repair from Mr. Bob S, so I will await to see that.  Any other comments are so welcome for a Newbie like me.

Hi Bill,  question do you have an aluminum roof?

Not sure yet, will be purchasing a vehicle to accommodate my tow requirements. My main objective is to have as simple/easy hookup and teardown as possible so using it won't be a chore. Well that, and as low a cost as possible so will be looking for decent used components where possible. We're only weekends and vacations  right now so trying to keep the budget low as we won't be getting a lot of use for now.

At this point the a 2010ish CR-V is at the top of the list, since it can be towed 4 down with the automatic trans., and has AWD (nice to have where we live).

I prefer a jeep wrangler TJ or JK. They are the most used toad. For good reason.  Takes less than 5min to hook up. The 4 wheel drive will also take you places that you could only dream of. I found a BlackHawk all terrain. Used. Absolutely love it.  Also found a lunch box blue ox break buddy.  There a bit of a pain in the backside but I only paid $50.

  6. You need to have a picture from the end. It looks like the same stuff that I have.  If it is it has a little flag on 1 side, and the other side has a cup on the other side. Sorry I don't have the order with me. Its at home and I won't be back for other week. I  found the stuff at RV Renovators in mesa az & at La Mesa rv in mesa az. La Mesa had it in almond. RV Renovators had it in white. It was running in the $3.60 a foot range. The stuff I found was quite a bit lighter a was around $60 for a 50ft roll. Wish that I would have gotten the heavier stuff. But it's working just fine. When I get home I'll find the order an send it.

I made a video on how to fix it.  If your interested.

Problems that I ran into. Dissimilar metals corrode. So using stainless steel  or steel screws when you have a aluminum roof & frame will cause you major problems in the future.  You need to use aluminum rivets.

Apparently when it goes it keeps going for a bit allowing air into the engine. The cylinders fill with fuel causing a thing called hydraulics, screwing up the top end and valves.

At this time James 1:2 isn't a lot of help.

You have some hard decisions to make in the next few days. Hope you take a few days to explore all options. Rebuild, there's a lot of good engines out there from fire or wrecked coaches. Other shops.

    So sorry.

  8. Wraps that I have inquired about thay say have a 5yr lifespan depending on how the coach is stored & the environment you live in. Then they need to be removed.

We just reserved a spot to get our coach painted in Los Algodones Mexico in February. Its a 38ft Monaco diplomat Full body paint 4 colors.  $14G. It will take 5 to 8 weeks to complete.  They have been in business 45 years. In the states we have been quoted 28g & up.

  9. My O My. Do I have a lot to learn.  Just figured that was just the way it was with these old rigs. Never had what I felt was a severe problem,  but it always takes a little correcting to keep the old girl centered in the lane. Side wind hitting 380 sq feet will push you around. If the wind gets to strong  i just figured it's time to slow down or find a parking spot till it calms down a little.  Qust from passing semis. Push me around a little.  I just grap the wheel a little tighter till they pass. Could I be so Nivea? Lol (yep)

You guys have pointed me in a whole new direction on how to spend a bunch more on this rig.

Looks like its time to spend some time on the web.  Can you point me in the right direction were to start looking?

JD, if your still in Yuma we would love to see what you have done with your rig. If you don't have the time for visitors or have hit the road again.  Safe travels & hope your major problems are behind you.

  10. Apologies if I  offended anyone with my comments about truck drivers.  My dad was a a truck driver with well over 5 million miles under his belt.  I  was raised with the concept of,

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

If I pulled my rig next to a traveler an run my engine all night for my comfort,  even today at 89yrs old that old man would beat my ass.

Today I won't run my generator all night unless I'm close to 150ft away from others.

I had a neighbor who every spring would start his snowblower and run it between our houses until it ran out of gas. A noisy two stroke Toro, that some years seemed to run a very long time. Now that’s rude, but he was a very nice guy.

We left a park near Ventura CA last winter in the early morning. I started and failed to wait for the coach to air up, as I didn’t want to irritate my neighbors. I scraped the bottom of the front cap while exiting up a slight incline. I won’t do that again.

Wow,  in my coach you aren't going anywhere till it is aired up. My breaks won't release until I  have 80lb's or better.

Bob please don’t point out the truck drivers most live in their trucks for weeks at a time. I can tell you after driving all day and trying to get some sleep in  100° weather or temperatures in the low 20s or 30s you need some heat or air conditioning so you can get up and do it again the next day so people like us can come out here and live in our motorhomes and get the supplies we need to run another day. God bless each and every truck driver out there and all the things that they give up for us family ,holidays ,birthdays ,funerals , graduations , weddings,  just my two cents took driving is a hard lonely job after 41 years of doing it I can tell you that from experience. God bless.

Understand what you are saying, but thats only 1/2 the story.  We have had then pull right next to us when the lot is mostly empty an they could park an acre away when it's 65⁰ . Or even whe when theres a truck stop a mile down the street.  I don't give a dam what they are doing or what there job is, there's no excuse for being selfish & rude.

After all the decades in the business, we only use first quality materials. More expensive? YES- do we have delamination, gaps, discoloration, warping, swelling, ? NO. You get and achieve what you pay for.
No box store flooring touches my hands. Ernie Ekberg- old and sticking to what I know works

Since we live in Arizona and have to travel for you to do the work.  What flooring do you use?

Bob, I just tried and the file downloaded just fine.  Are you logged into the site?  Sometimes if you click on the link in an email alert but not already logged in you could get this type of failure.  Also, you need to agree to the terms and conditions screen that first pops up when you go to download the file.

Are you trying to do the download from the download screen when logged into the site?

Also, see if you can download other files.  If you can't, it could be that you have the security settings on your computer set too high.

I tried it from your post on Feb 19th.  Wil try it from the main site & on our computer tomorrow.
