  1. Nice. Thanks. We've never been before, but it seems like fun. I have been to the show for a day, but never staying on the grounds. What are they charging at LazyDays these days? I'll wager it's not any cheaper than staying right at the Fairgrounds. I've always found LazyDays to be rather overpriced, but my family owned a campground that was clean/nice and had reasonable rates. BTW, I signed up for the rally through Monaco Travelers. I think they still have spots.
  2. I'll just leave this here: If you're not familiar with this topic, it's a hoot. (whoops, see what I did there?)
  3. Just when you thought you'd seen it all...
  4. I hope this is in the right spot. I searched and can't find a thread on this topic for the upcoming show in January. Is anyone attending? Any tips for how to get the most from the show? Anything specific you enjoyed viewing while there? Would like to meet some of you there.
  5. I can't believe stuff like that happens. It's sad and I do hope nobody was hurt, but obviously the guy was going at speed. At just over 9ft, I would think he would have had to duck when he saw that beam coming toward his skull. Based on the damage, you can see how low it struck the coach. On one hand, I try to be sympathetic, but on the other hand, there's the old saying: "If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough." And I always add to the phrase, "Some of us get tougher everyday." Everyone should take some kind of course. You don't go from driving a pickup truck or a Prius to driving a 40+ft, 40,000 pound torpedo. I just can't get past how fast he must have been going.
  6. I was just going to post something on this and found this string. I just started following this "shortage." We are planning a trip to Georgia in December and I'm not super keen on getting stuck up there. I see the posts here that there's "not shortage in Florida" (where we also live) but how can we know? With the wackiness that's been happening, might we end up at the pump someday only to find out they're out? There's a place near us in Lutz that has the cheapest gas around. They also have diesel. For no other reason other than the owner is trying to help people, his prices are 30-40 cents less than anywhere else, including the Walmart that's right down the street. They put bags over the pump handles when they're out. (and that's every week) They do get refilled though. I went in there on Saturday and saw people pumping gas WITH the bags on the handles. I waited until a lady filled up. She pulled away as another older lady pulled up. When I went to the pump, it said "out of fuel." So I started to head in to the store. I asked the lady on her way out to her car, if they were pumping gas today. She said something like if I asked, they'd let me have some gas. So I went in to ask the owner. He told me that they were down to 100 gallons and he was saving that for the little old ladies and then walked away. When that last fuel scare happened, (I think that was 2020 or 2021) all the places around here were out. I was at a local gas station to get fuel for the lawn equpment and witnessed a fight. People get stupid when their routines are messed up. Well, they get stupid for lots of reasons, but we will get to a point where this will become the norm. Probably sooner than later. I hope y'all continue this string and keep people updated. Maybe someone should list the fuel apps they use. The only one I'm familar with is GasBuddy.
  7. Excellent point. I can't think of a time when we would watch TV during the day. My wife and I are not retired so if I am inside it's because it's raining and I'm probably working on the laptop and she's gone to work. I remember one time when my father-in-law joined us in the RV and he wanted to watch the news during the day. I think I'd keep the flat panel above the cockpit until I had worked out with the projection system or maybe indefinitely. I see some of the newer ones coming with a televator behind one of the couches and there's still a TV up above your head when you drive so maybe I'll keep it. I'm trying to get my family on both sides to stop watching the news because it's so skewed and so awful. So maybe I'll just rip out that TV in the cockpit anyway! 😆😆 Very true. The good part is the screen would be nearly directly across and mounting it under the cabinets on each side it would be nearly parallel. But for sure it would take some adjusting.
  8. This is pretty much what I have in mind however I would be mounting the projector on one side and the screen opposite where the couches are. I don't want to have to set it up every time we want to watch something, so putting the screen in the cockpit, although it looks amazing (what a huge screen!) it just won't work for us. The new projectors are getting really great and they make portable ones that I think would be suitable for an RV application. The one I recently saw has all the "smart" junk the TVs have, making them a great option to "cast" from another device. The new ones even auto-correct if they are not exactly centered, which would be ideal as I'd mount it off to the side in order to not block the window. I'll try to find a link to the review I saw. It has a rechargeable battery which could get plugged into the 12v system and we all have lights in the bottom of the cabinets. Just thought it was a great option to avoid the televator and traditional flat screen. Here's the link:
  9. I have been watching various videos regarding the innovation of small high-res video projectors. They have come a long way. I'm considering installing one over one couch and putting a screen mounted under the cabinets on the other side. This would solve all the time, energy and expense of moving the couch and putting in a televator and TV. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this. The projectors are simply amazing now and even though not 4K, they are very high resolution. (also, when you're roughly 8ft from your TV, I don't particularly see the benefit of 4K. 1080P would be more than sufficient. Thoughts?
  10. I would like to follow this topic. I'm considering the very same.
